HEADING FOR VENEZIA
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Young Syd, a squirrel with adventurous spirit most keen,
Bought 1925 roadster, a vintage touring machine.
     With top down, tail flapping in the breeze,
     The goddess of freedom he was sure to appease.
Popular was he, once featured in ‘Roadster Fanzine.’
Oh how Syd loved the roadster’s crushed velvet seats
Sinking in them as he raced down the city streets.
     Waves to all the she-squirrels, feeling outta sight
    Spends his dough dancing with them on Saturday nights.
Low on cash, Syd uses his roadster delivering food for UberEATS
That’s when he meets the she-squirrel named Aretha,
a singing diva who always orders lots of pepperoni pizza.
     *Oh these city streets move way too slow, don’t you know.
     Let’s go riding on the freeway! Drop the pedal, Syd. Go, go, go!
So they cruise onto better-than-ever street heading straight for Venezia.
Sleepless
Sleepless
Dogs are howling.
Cats are yowling.
Stomach's growling.
Just want a nap.
Mowers mow.
Blowers blow.
Planes are low.
Please, a bit of kip.
A fly astir .
An AC's whirr.
Roaring roadster.
Just forty winks.
Telly's off.
Party's over.
Almost aslee...
Have to pee.
I wonder, Little Eddie, hypnotized,
can it be true you felt no pain at all?
Ten years of age, a figure formed too small,
and that poor Roadster, a gift you so prized…
How could your brother have so despised
your car? to pop its tires,—and on the wall—
smash it, scratch it, do everything to maul
that toy.—Is it true, you weren’t agonized?
Though Harry promised hypnotism,?he quickly realized, putting you in trances,
that he could trash you—as he had your car.
and soon, he stuck mom’s hat pin way too far.—
To cover up his tracks, he took his chances—
his lie: epileptic paroxysm.
Leaving Memories
I will not go away completely
When it’s my time and curtain call
Continue, ever-so-discreetly
Like someone’s writing on the wall
I get to linger in emails
And links I sent, with silly jokes
All those stories, chats and tales
Addressed to friends and strange folks
Like passenger who leaves the roadster
My band plays on, yet I am gone
My face, not worthy of a poster
Shows up in photos I have spawned
In little gifts I passed around
In words I said and verse deployed
Imprints on sand and stony grounds
I’ll hop along, defying void
With deeds to be recalled at random
Bygone handshakes and warm embrace
I wrote my own memorandum
On how to quit but leave a trace
Premium Member The Night And A Roadster
Don’t want to waste time take me out,
let’s ride the night in a roadster;
I’m bored and I need a bailout,
don’t want to waste time take me out;
Can’t sit still I’m likely to pout,
the highway’s a roller coaster;
Don’t want to waste time take me out,
let’s ride the night in a roadster.
Premium Member Showing His Stuff
The fool on the hill passed the test
Proved he was dumber than the rest
He purchased a fine auto
Crashed it into a grotto
And said he’d only done his best.
So, if once was not bad enough
He wanted to show himself tough
He purchased an old roadster
From a dumber old jokester,
And he attempted to show his stuff.
The roadster wound up in a creek
Still the fool, anything but meek,
Bought a nifty old Ford truck,
Wrecked it in a muddy muck
Understand the fool's mind was weak!
Sweet Flashback
Life is a quest fascinating and sweet,
It's a book with many empty sheets.
At times you may ride the roller coaster,
Or you may feel you are riding a roadster.
Ups and downs, highs and lows,
Cherry and merry, all the way.
Life is a thrilling journey,
Of happiness and trouble loads.
When you have a flashback of your journey,
Cherish and treasure the memories.
Reflect on the places you visited,
Recollect of laughter and delight.
When you have a flashback,
Look joy and smile at each one.
America
Intends to be the best,
acts like owner of the world,
fights for the USA
loves the history of American music
is entitled to be a roadster
passionate with nature
carry out cucarachas with reservation
vibrates with sports
intrudes on foreign affairs
polemics racial issues
celebrates 4th of july with pride
has fun with regional accents
carves pumpkins like no one
tends to be a bit arrogant
rejoices with fireworks
should assist poorer countries further
praises and appreciates peanut butter
frolic in football badly
plays basketball admirably
knows that everyone wants
 to come to America ... !
  Ps for the sake of poetry, i must say that
        I LOVE AMERICA !
Paul Le Mat, the guy
Who drove the yellow roadster
in American
Grafitti starred in the show,
Aloha Bobby & Rose,
With friend Manuel
Padilla Jr. who played
The little kid in
The Tarzan series of the
Mid-sixties as Jai, Scarface,
Also, Grafitti,
Wanted to cash their weekly
Studio paychecks,
But they knew of the hotel
'DO NOT CASH' memo, but they had
Known of this sucker,
Behind the desk chiefly named,
Tom, so I did cash
it and made two new friends for
the longest two minutes, e'er.
***Manuel, who was two years older than me, has since passed but Paul, who was in his early thirties at the time, is still kicking at 73 years of age.
Red Hot Roadster
The enchanted world of unknown bliss
Mr Starman on a journey without a miss
The bloodshot vehicle that he is driving
If on earth, would sure be thriving
The new roadster aboard the falcon
Is circling the space like a medallion
I promise if it was on earth today
It would be the most talked about vehicle on the highway!
Model A's
Model  A’s   ( Poem )
Vintage cars that are so old
Classic beauties with stories told
Some with Rumble seats in tow
Owners of these want to show
Antiques from late 20's and 30's
Shined right up and never dirty
Came in only four standard colors
Nine body styles were uncovered
Popular Roadster and Town Car
Four cylinders that worked hard
Sliding gear conventional 3-speed
65 was the top it could keep
First car to have safety glass
Come watch them all drive past
All I Am
I am everything.
    I am nothing at all.
    I am the spinning basketball.
    I am the wheel of a roadster.
    I am the top down view of a coaster.
    I am an apple on a tree.
    I am giant stingered bee.
    I am the rear of your knee.
    Or maybe I am a banshee.
    Perhaps I’m the flower.
    Given to that pretty girl.
    Or perhaps I am a simply designed swirl.
    Or maybe I am none of those.
    As I drift along my journey.
    Through this expansive sky.
Witnessing Road Kill
Walking down sidewalk
Watching cars pass by and by
Looks from side to side
In dismay looks down
Now hating every roadster
Death smears on one tire
The Innocent Mafioso - 2
Waiting for me next day
in the bar,
In the biz of gangs
they called him superstar!
I whips his crims
so he came for payback.
BAM! a bottle on my head
he yelled "Welcome Back."
Blood on the floor
and on the pane,
Not a single cloth
was left to stain!
Though they were more
and single was I,
I proved a handful
with a swollen eye!
Honkies flung me out
I crawled back at the door,
In stake to crush bones
I lead the score!
Czar behold me
with his hawkish orb,
Stirred by my guts
he gave me a job!
My CV read my name
and subscript GANGSTER,
In race of gangs
I sped as a roadster!
I wasn't the reason
for me being bad,
It was the world
who made a beast from lad!
The words of pride
in my eyes they saw,
You don't owe me fear
You owe me AWE!
                            Dedicated To my friends............. Shivjeet & Jose for
Encouraging me!
The Old Country Road
Once again driving down
this old country road,
     days gone by,
memories rolling back
     into my mind,
stories my grand dad
told me of this old
      country road.
Putting along in his
old roadster, stopping,
for gas 19 cents a gallon,
bring back those good ole days.
Hot day like this one,
bottle of coke only
5 cents, he throws down,
rolling hills, everywhere
the eye can see,
trees reahing so high,
into the beautiful sky.
Him and I take all
of this in, to store
in our minds and heart,
as we depart this old
country road, I truly
cherish those memories
  of days long ago.
