Brilliant execution
Orders followed
Self preservation
Far from battle
Cloistered warmly, safe
Divinely chosen to sit
In Bill's house on the hill
Awaiting the body count
Lives snuffed out
Two years ago
Did not go away
Now back to haunt
Karma is real; payback
In other lives and places
Time's a continuum
Matter's indestructible
It can take time
to analyze verse:
casting a baited mind-hook
from an unknown dock,
sinking through depths of frothy
foreign sea,
rouge wave against an inquisitive line
can quickly carry off the metaphoric fishes
of others --
slippery-syllabic think and feel –
salivating-insatiable-sensibility:
We are not so different from God
and devils when it comes grasping --
taking possessive hold of the soulful
works of literate others…. We devour
to know. With a Sacristan's heart then preserve
every fertile digestion.
Musical inclined as a kid at 15
Played a Portable Organ which my Grand Dad brought me
Listening next door was my neighbor hearing of my organ playing
She was a Musical Teacher at a School, but also being a Professional Opera Singer, and I attended numerous of her performances at a Downtown Opera House
I was later introduced to a Professional Male Concert Pianist
I learned the fundamentals of the Piano Ivories keys taught by the Concert Pianist
The Female Opera Singer also gave me voice lessons included
All this was happening when I was a teenager at 15
I play the piano by ear
Musical background was beginning to form
At the present, I haven’t played any organ and piano in quite a while
I am sure it would come back
I am advising you to get your ear plugs as what you might hear won’t be secure
Better yet, run for your life
Musical pattern that was a beginning
My musical past
Time that went fast
Musical blend that didn’t continue nor last.
This is not a call to polish perfect rhymes
for quiet shelves in softly lighted rooms.
Take up your pen to map the fault lines,
where silent injustice shakes and booms.
Do not just sing of doves and olive trees,
but of the root that cracks the prison stone.
Write the plea that rides the stubborn breeze,
and turns a whispered truth to common tone.
For every ledger listing war's grim cost,
write one clear line that grief cannot erase.
Be the first, defiant green of frost,
the quiet anger shaping a kind face.
We are the scribes of heartbeats, not just years,
the gardeners of hope in fields of fears.
I hold back the action
Admirable though it would be
Frozen mammoth restrained
Introspectively
Or a beetle in amber
Polite and decorative
Without a reaction, Thermo-
dynamically
Fear is involved
Other causes urge forward
Contributing thrust
Abandonedly
Thus it is peace becomes us
In this country of marvels;
Motivations in balance
Inescapably
It's harder at night
In the dark all alone
Just the hum of the ceiling fan
Where my thoughts start to roam
I worry about you
Where you are how you've been
Are you healthy and happy?
Or in pain again
Are you eating ok? Are you sleeping?
Are you warm in your bed?
These are the questions
That spin in my head.
I try to ignore them
So I stop losing sleep
Because I can't help you
That's your job to keep.
So I pray for the morning
To start a new day
For when I am busy
The thoughts go away
You're not on my mind
Out of my sight
Till my head hits the pillow
It's harder at night
Self-defense mechanisms
take over in times like these …
No matter the provocation
Don’t forget ‘thank you’ and ‘please’
Is there anything you root for in our garden now?
Must I cultivate it to make it grow?
Can't seed so many plots, I know.
Is there anything you savour in our melting pot now?
Seasons changed, and our flavours compound,
True essence to distil.
Blinded by what familiarity steeps
You know our brew only too well, you see.
I taste bitterness, you drink me.
Remember,
The days when cultures were raw,
Just fresh and jubilantly spicy?
Where exactly did that zest go?
Preserved, yes.
Unspoiled, no!
Simmered away as steam from a kettle,
Aromas mingled over.
Vaporous, hardly distinguishable.
Whatever happened to our cultural bouquet?
Trying to bottle it is so hard.
Is there anything you relish in our feast now?
These days our palates just don't know.
We're still simmering.
Taste! Taste!
Clawing at granite walls
Searching for that perfect peace.
Using the shavings of those walls,
to construct yet another wall
to preserve the sheen of peace.
but
Peace is a restless beast...
escaping through the first crack it sees
To keep its pristine peace, peace must always flee.
I preserve all words
as precious stones,
in the inerasable throat
of my affective memory... !
Self-preservation laudable
What then about our soul
High time we ego disable
Bliss ensconced, feeling whole
Gods light within awaits
Feel innocence gyrate
What for then, do we wait
No hesitation
Self-preservation

Quietus
Iits strength is inside
salts power can save a life
killing the poisons
I stay in the dark, far away from eyes
Who will see what they like not
Who cannot wish me well
Because on the past they dwell
Like a hoarder who hoards anger from memories of the past
Of a situation that did not last
I stay away from pictures and public posts
Away from an opportunity to boast
About the one I love the most
My favourite person who is a gift
Imperfectly perfect and is all that I have wished
For
And much more
I avoid an opportunity for ill wishes
I keep what's mine hidden from envious onlookers
That way I am filled with simple riches
Prayer, spirituality, happiness and love
I am rich with all of these above
I give a big smile from ear to ear
While looking at the One who is dear
To me...
And we hold hands through our journey on earth
Enjoying it to the fullest for all that it is worth
Once a lover said to me “I’d like to pick your brain,”
“You’re a beauty darling, but I think you’re quite insane.”
I did not doubt a word he said so I opened up my mind
I think he got a little scared when he realized what he’d find.
Empty bourbon bottles, littered in my head
Crumpled up old snuff notes, wishing I was dead.
Then one of the voices that once belonged only to me
Snuck into his consciousness out of curiosity
It whispered scary sayings right into his ear
He clutched my hand tightly, said “Never leave me, dear.”
I looked into terrified eyes with sincere empathy
But felt nothing but relief that the terror had left me.
Before it could crawl back to me I shut my mind quickly,
I will be damned if I’m the one living life sickly.
Life in a nutshell
You touch those around you with your heart, when it is the only way they can be touched.
You fill their lives with happiness, when hope seems to be useless.
Let the angels take your message, for they are our messengers.
Fill your heart with joy, let laughter prevail.
Never let anyone annoy, but feel bad for them because they are so sad.
Never let yourself be the turtle in the middle of the road, there are many directions he can travel, but only one can set him free and how he handles the situation determines his fate.
If you come upon a snake in the woods, you still have choices.
Your life is like the River, if you go with the flow, it will be easy paddling If you decide to change direction, it won't be as easy, but it can be done, but making waves will only get you sunk.
If you build a sandcastle, with-in a short time it will only dwindle away, if you have a concrete foundation, and it is built with stone, it will stay a lot longer. How can you go wrong?
Fight to preserve, not with each other.
