Connected with the parents of the victims of the predatory

Under the protection.? Of a dedicated police force where
Community figures could explore options to create a more
Harmonious backdrop of living ? (including stopping all
Un-documented immigration for the space of 12/24 months? The re-opening of high street banks and post
Offices encourageing farmers markets to encourage a

Keeping Rabbits

Keeping rabbits

After the German army surrendered, life was tough
the army had employed many to do road work and
repairing bridges, the allies had bombed.
With freedom of movement to roam in the night
followed theft of food items like the man who
stormed into a bakery waving a rusty Mauser gun
stealing bread; the coal depot needed security
guards as did the sausage producer.
The police force was reduced, and many officers had been
fired since they had been Nazi sympathizers during
the war of occupation; mind, many trickled back
in uniform when trespasses were overlooked.
Of serious crimes, there was one who assaulted women
going home late, knocking them down and stealing
underwear, which back then was a bombastic affair
yet an intimate garment; the newspaper reporting
the case wrote, ladies' items had been stolen
In our time of need, my mother’s brother gave her
two white rabbits, the rabbits soon became many
sweet bunnies, and before we knew the flat was full.
A lady, from the posh part of town, bought the rabbits
her action had not been charitable, she was later
seen wearing a white fur coat.

The Horrible Accident

When I fired my gun at a criminal, I accidentally shot an innocent bystander.
I made a horrible mistake, I was supposed to shoot someone else than her.
The person who I accidentally shot was only eighteen years old and I killed her.
The guilt I feel is too much to bear and I resigned, I'm no longer a police officer.
When I shot and killed that girl, it was a horrible accident, I did not mean to do it.
Even though the police academy trained me not to make such a mistake, I blew it.
I shed tears every single day because I feel remorse.
My wife can't take it anymore, she's getting a divorce.
My wife constantly told me to get over it but she was beating a dead horse.
I ruined my life, I've lost my wife and I had to resign from the police force.
When I accidentally shot and killed that girl, it was a tragic thing to do.
If you're a cop, I pray that what happened to me doesn't happen to you.

Grandpa was a Bowie.
A tight-lipped protestant Ulsterman
who drifted into the Poblacht na hÉireann
in search of a cure for his cold heart.

His thin lips wed a soft Catholic girl.
He joined the Garda Síochána settling down
to breed Kerry Blue’s. After he retired, he still
wore his uniform, his neck as stiff as ever.
Grandma wrote letters to the Pope
begging for Papal forgiveness
for her heathen husband.

I have not been to Hidalgo County,
but if I were one day to go, I might try
to convince the Daughters of the Alamo
of my credentials to be worshiped
in a mild, concessionary way.
A complimentary burger, a free pass
to the museum, a photograph
of myself brandishing a big knife
at a picture of Generalissimo Santa Anna
that would suffice.

Deserted By Alfred

Deserted by Alfred

It was not my fault I had no shoes
And the police stopped and asked and since it was none of their business
I naturally told them to get lost
was handcuffed and put in a police car, which was more cooling than
the asphalt, after all, it was October in Albufeira.
I thought this is a perfect movement when a father defends his son
but Alfred who refuses to be my father had gone home
I was left to explain this ridiculous case, but luckily the Portuguese
police force felt sorry for me and let me go.
Next day I bought a pair of sneakers in a Chinese shop and my father
who refuses to be my father was wearing my leather uppers?

hospitals overflow, all are helpless
fear of death enveloping other fears
covid threat challenging our core concepts
looking on, we can but wipe away tears

no cure exists, yet placebos vanish
police force to dispel crowds at chemists
winner takes all; it is fight or perish
feral ferocity today persists

reflections show, what we like not to see
chivalry values, Cinderella dreams
as a collective whole, ugly fury
moment to moment horror stories stream

in midst of this storm, please light a candle
weary souls look to the lighthouse signal

Rules and Regulation

Rules and Regulation

There is the third wave of Corona 19 in Portugal, peoples at
old people’s homes have been vaccinated, but now it has stalled.
    So, what is the problem?
Why are people reluctant to follow the rules and regulations?
I think it is because Portugal lived under a dictatorship for 50 years,
when freedom came lifted the heavy burden, and now they are not
going to give this freedom away for anyone.
The dictate from politicians is often ignored, the question is, what
  will happen after the pandemic?
Will the new rules still apply to give the politicians more power?
and the police force the right to behave nastily.
The freedom is an illusion, and the right-wing guard is back in power,
giving the political party a prefix of social this.
While privatizing water and electricity,
people cannot afford to heat their homes.
But there are moments when we have to forego the “Democracy.”
for the common good, but be sure to take the freedom back.

Premium MemberHope Takes a Hit

The Mayor showed up in T-shirt and jeans
mask and curly hair, a worried look in-between

Apologizing profusely for the murder, straight from his heart
promising that his office would straightaway do its part

To end systemic racism within the Minneapolis police force
to reform it, revitalize it, and chart a new course

Yet all the fists raised about him shook their heads NO!
and seemed to be calling for the final say-so

Then a question from the crowd, demanding to know
Will you defund the police force, "YES or NO?!"

The Mayor was downcast; he shook his head slow
~ Protestors roaring in unison, "You've got to go!"

Heart Break

Three shootings in a single week,
I can hear every American heart weep.
With every story and post I read,
I can feel my heart’s endless bleed.

Every story sounds the same,
Our own country is to blame.
Trust in the police force fades,
As smoke from a silent grenade.

I pray change will soon arrive,
And shine through like sunshine.
We need our system upgraded,
Our view of society is outdated.

It’s time for change and restoration,
Put a halt on selfish expectations.
A country only grows if we step together,
Alone we fall as leaves in windy weather.

Premium MemberGlitches

I was breezing along having fun,
making quick plans and getting things done,
but then up jumped a glitch,
such an odious hitch.
Thus, I found myself under the gun!

I was all packed and ready to go
with my bag full hundreds in-tow,
but I never would reach
that exotic, grand beach,
Al Hoceima in north Morocco.*

By the whole police force I was mobbed.
The community Bank, I had robbed.
“I just stole a small part
‘cause I’ve got a good heart,
and I needed a trip, y’all!” I sobbed.

“And the gun was fake!” Now I’m in jail,
yelling, “When is my hearing for bail?”
I know there’ll never be
surf and sun time for me,
since that ship for me surely has sailed!

       ******************

Unforeseen glitches cause us great pain.
Some invite them through ill-gotten gain.
Thinking they won’t get caught,
prison time they have bought.
Now their lives bear a permanent stain.

*The U. S. has no extradition treaty with Morocco.

In these limericks, each long line has three anapests; each short one, two anapests.

Cut the Papaya

Cut the papaya into pieces
The tree became slender
Throw away the lid of your wishes
Tear the police force asunder

It rose from the sea into lilies
The room opened all three windows
All around the restless willies
Cold hearth full of cinders

After blows up the red grenade
All it was a bowl concave
