BASKET OF OINTMENTS
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In youth, I did endlessly frolic and play,
With nary a care in any given day.
But now I must confess,
With a moan and a sigh and much distress,
I’m totally loyal to "Pharmacy Jay."
With his basket of ointments and creams,
I’m embracing my age, or so it seems.
Though I laugh and I jest,
I must say, I’m blessed,
For my youth lives in fond, silly dreams!
Thought doesn’t make any difference,
Or it does? It does in you!
and a bit in others too.
There is no end however,
To this, to that; Oh! Forever!
Why you want an end?
What’s that you want to transcend?
I don’t know, Can I know?
First show me your achievements
Show the scars, show the ointments
Show the perfumes show the garments
Don’t be disheartened, it may seem vain
But truth is expensive, demanding blood and pain
Many did it, so it is doable
My eyes are but scared and legs stumble
It seems difficult, and I feel weak
the fall ah! dived again from the mount-peak.
When silence speaks in broken dialects, to harmonize hurt,
I ponder, would the sky unravel synonyms for serenity,
amidst piercing thunder that strikes through raining regrets~
upon flowers, swaying forsaken, to butterfly ballads?
But will oblivious eyes, roaming the blackness of selfish spheres~
where prayers are abandoned as meaningless metaphors,
ever feel the darkness we carry, when tears no longer flow in lakes with swans, to be seen?
It is in melted muteness, we reveal realness of suppressed pain,
as childhood fears scribbled as forbidden secrets~
rewind on repeat through holographic lens of life,
mirroring bloodstained fingerprints etched across linen of chastity…
So tonight, when blue moon in my mind ascends in insomniac stillness,
listen to the sulfuric sins scattered as flashbacks of an onyx rose,
as vandalized veins scream in helplessness,
awaiting a sculptured sunrise that bleeds balmy ointments for burnt blisters,
while I remain, in mists of misery, weaving prose,
to erase tattooed torment that stole starry symphonies within my soul. ..
Tjhe Cretans have centered there
intentions
made foly of the traditions
stood in the Pool of Rightousness
to drink the wines of endearment and affection
callously they decieve
for those who belive
and shall rub the ointments
of victory in there losses
Might the moon emcompass the
straddlers
to brring them into aligment with
Talus!
There they shall stand as men
before the God of Wrest
each seed sown
to bare the friut
the bark of the trees
to make the leather
the presious metals smelted
formed and trimmed with
the gem stones
Talus stand before me
that I have labored
and am Champion above all!
Talus recognize me attop all these men
that I am Champion of
Champion
on every coast
in every feild
to sell every conseccion
That I am recognized
to all men as best
before me no other
and after me the same
Champion
recognized by such adornments!
"When we don't get what we yearn for, we must keep in mind that God has better things in store"
- by Poet
Sometimes life's not all that pleasant
It dishes out disappointments
Scars and wounds are ever present
That cannot be healed with ointments
We yearn for more joy, love, and peace
Afraid of what the future holds
Looking back, we live on mem'ries
Giving up hope as life unfolds
But remember, God has His plans
Far better than what we expect
Our broken lives are in His hands
Only He can make them perfect.
I have prescriptions coming out of my ears,
Do I take too many,
Something I fear.
I take so many pills and potions,
Ointments and such,
I now use a walker
Why do I need this crutch?
Age has caught up with me,
I have to say.
Writing this has tired me.
I bid you all G'day.
Make dreams of midnight sleep-
the Ferrari in your head, sons and daughters
gossiping on your back, and sea foam as
your bed. Make them to baffle doctor.
Imaging calm heart, kissing an infant's
face, roaming over clouds with an immense
lover in you and a sombre drink in front on
the beach of love. Let them to cure pains,
the scratches of uncertain world.
All the wealth is your closed eyes
and let ointments to do the work ...
Her luring loin
And her customers’ seduced groin
Once again join
With a freshly released gold coin,
Even as she wasn’t his type
For being a smoker of a pipe
To whom final quitting could never be ripe,
Until cancer took its paw swipe
And off her illusory joy wipe…
A nymphomaniac reaching out to ointments
Ahead of fixed appointments
For the enveloping of smell of cigarette
And show to valued customers that she could be considerate!
In the response to my letter
You have sent flowers of words
These words spread fragrance
In the stink room of my life
Just like a shawl in the cold
Which covers the body
In the same way,
Soft ointments are your words
For the sores of my wounds
Whenever I took a glance
They relief me of my pain
They hold my hands
And make me hopeful again
Your words have taught me
The words have their effect
They have a deep touch
Behind her shades,
you might presume she's hiding something.
And you may be partially correct.
Appearing unassuming in her silence,
graceful in her stride,
she hides her feelings well,
being a sensitive, an empath.
Smothered by the thoughts and feelings of others,
certainly it all becomes difficult to bear.
Awash by waves of emotions not her own,
and yet, it's difficult to deflect.
As if imaginary claws protrude out
and rakes her deeply, cutting swiftly....
There are no bandages
to bind these unseen wounds,
no ointments to sooth...
Such is the life of a sensitive,
such is the world she must live in.
Love is her saving grace
As she remains in an unsafe world.
What can we buy that will cure what ails him?
We wished that we knew.
Trying treatment upon treatment.
Lotions, creams, pills, and ointments.
No relief was promised, but we were optimistic.
We expected some good results.
Our hopes were joyfully trotted out next to each treatment.
Twenty, thirty, forty times, our hopes were lifted up.
Finally dying a natural death, landing on the rocks of reality.
This is why they call it practicing medicine.
Never know when we converse
Whose path we’ll happen to traverse
Can anyone really be that perverse
To willy nilly cast out a nasty curse
To chant for effects brutally adverse
With implications bitterly diverse
An evil voodoo spell I must reverse
Boils hives and warts somehow inverse
I throw on a coat and grab my purse
Head off to see a doctor or a nurse
In ointments and remedies I’m willing to immerse
Medical bills disburse then reimburse
I hope to feel better but I feel worse
Suspecting I may soon be leaving in a hearse
But first I’ll sing my song or write a verse
To leave my mark on this awesome universe
God’s plan has worked beautifully.
I now know what sixteen days of pure hell feels like.
I understand more about chronic pain, and I will have more empathy than ever before.
I had no idea this was going to be my introduction
to my summer vacation.
God has a plan. It is much bigger than mine, so I cannot buck it.
This introduction to the world of pain has been a nightmare that I hope to wake up and
walk away from. Every day I say “Tomorrow I will be pain-free.” I am so ready for that.
In God’s time. Not mine.
In God’s way. Not mine.
A reminder that I am not in charge here.
That I have no say in the when or where of it at all.
I am helpless, a minion, fighting exhaustion and lack of sleep due to pain and pills.
My exhaustive efforts have in no way brought me the relief
I thought they might.
I have used creams, salves, ointments, and I have been
on fourteen different medications
diagnosed by seven different doctors or nurse practitioners.
God has a reason.
I sure wonder what it is….
And when will it be satisfied?
