Great night to sleep tight
Onyx sky looking at stars
Owls hoot a piercing cry
Did he just call sweetheart 

Now I lay me down to sleep
I pray that I wake up

On becoming a night owl...,
no matter whether or not ya give a hoot

especially after feeling super charged
watching the second night of 
Democratic National Convention conclave
ushering a hint of "Liberté, Egalité, Fraternité.

Men and women are born and remain free and equal in rights. Social distinctions may be founded only upon the common good.

Night Owl

grabs a hat from the hatstand 
fraught, he warps the midday sun
no apricating mellow touch
in haste, too early a venture
while camouflaged conspirators
beckon to no end, lest he dawdles 
through waxing moonlit gossamer 
and warms the trees of dusk

Around and about ten o'clock PM,
No matter how tired I felt through the day,
Something strange happens within my brain stem
And I'm ready to up, up, and away!

Ideas hit me from out of the blue.
My creativity suddenly stirs.
Levels of energy refresh anew
And beddy-bye thoughts unfocus and blur.

Staring long at the laptop
My workplace is quiet
Active and mentally tip top
I am an owl that flies at night

Night sorting and engaging that way
Was a man deep in his thinking
Working with a good employer that will stay
Energy peaks naturally in the evening

With refreshed curious eyes
I cast

dusk sets
full moon
night brought
perch high
owl hoots
head turns
shape drift
one side
on ground
snatch prey

still lull
tucked in
snug, warm
calm sleep
till morn

Oh Night Owl

Oh night owl

My constant companion

With luminescent eye's

Piercing through full moon

To ward off vampires and
werewolves alike

And notify an early warning
alert call

Slayers to arm's

Silver , Garlic 
Stakes , Crosses

At the ready

Battle commences at the stroke
of dusk

And ends when the sun rises

For those who survive

Only to resume hostilities  
tomorrow night again

Forgiving the Moon - Night Owl Iii

Moon, let us be friends again!
The night is young and the stars are spread like city lights!
We will wax and wane together, you and I,
passing through each other’s dark and light.
I will decorate your face with the bright colors of laughter
like icing painting a grinning sugar skull. 
Every day is the Day of the Dead,
remembering

- Night Owl Or Sweet Dreams -

We must realize
that we cannot take
all the challenges in one day
Optimism and positive expectation
Not tonight ... maybe tomorrow
at least not tonight

One place the limit must go
in a soft transition ... from day to night
Relax well before you go to bed

Fall Night Owl

Through frosted, fall night window panes,
a darkened shape in a pine tree,
an owl tall, tufted, stately,
listening for scurrying prey.

Gliding down, slow, whisper-quiet,
mouse stands out on the dusted leaves,
talons grab hold, down comes the beak...
I am lucky to have espied it.

Flaps back hard for the midnight pines,
with one quick bolt it’s had a feed,
regains its perch,

The night is dark and mysterious
A time of reflection..
As I ponder in silence..
The night..
Quiet and still..
The sound of crickets singing happily..
A tune..
A beat of its own drum..

A night owl sitting comfortably by a tree..
Hoot hooting away..
Singing along..
Combining its melody to the crickets..
The night owl knows when to chime in the hoots..
Correspondence to the crickets..
