Night Owl

Around and about ten o'clock PM,
No matter how tired I felt through the day,
Something strange happens within my brain stem
And I'm ready to up, up, and away!

Ideas hit me from out of the blue.
My creativity suddenly stirs.
Levels of energy refresh anew
And beddy-bye thoughts unfocus and blur.

I know in the morn the price must be paid.
I'll be more tired when the day must begin.
But songs will be lost and ideas fade...
But lacking in sleep will wear one quite thin...

It seems to me that whichever I choose
One way or another I only lose.

Sound oh so familiar, Stephen. Nice Sonnet. My favorite form of poetry. Having the time to write when the thoughts come to us is a challenge most of the time. You expressed the delima well in your poem. Welcome to Lifetime. Lots of people to meet and shre poetry with. A poet friend (to be)in Texas, Bill

You have shown it well how inspiration can kick in at any time and yes, if we don't grasp what comes to us to work with it, it can get lost. But, yes we need our rest too. Great poem :)
