The last line of evening light
Descended upon Renton,
Bent on tranquil dissonance.
Our faces listless and malleable
'Gainst the dying sun on the faded brick
Buildings across the tiny side Main streets.
The pub 12-year-old feeds the local black dog,
Paw to wrist,
With her mom's tired eyes
Longingly yonder,
Content and quiet.

A gentle breeze carried the tune
of a lady gone too soon.
I listened to it longingly until,
inside my bones, it caused a chill;
and then blew my dreams through other bones,
across centuries of dulcet tones.

Not your ordinary, average date,
a country ramble,
a stile a gate,
and here's the pitch,
“We won't go far, or stay up late.”
Now he and she sitting silently,
beside the flickering fire,
innocently she believes, camping separately
within tent, is where they will retire.
But his fuse was lit
when first they met,
longingly he knows and yet,
that's not what's on his mind,
nor what he really meant,
hoping she'll yield in the field,
he's bent on camping with intent.

I am I
fate seals fate
breathe pause breathe
steps trace, paths, trace steps
faith moves mountains, moves faith
dreams weaves memories weaves dreams
moonlight drinks tears drinks moonlight
forever begins ends begins in forever
longingly I linger I longingly
mirrored reflections mirrored
echoes return echoes
time after time
on time on

Summer
Watery sensations!
A feel of having fallen into a light full of summer!
Sprung out of late night October dark.
The lightness of the wind.
The mystery of an ancient perfume.
I realize how I had been missing it.
Tapping into the underworld.
Of a wandering heart.
I welcome the cold freeze on my skin, it keeps me safe!
Yet I lust longingly for Warmth of the Sun!
For relief from the drear of my long lonely nights.
The warm breeze reminds me of love.
The Jasmine and Lupine gently increase my desire.
I've suppressed my longing for this sacred scent.
All below me, 100 generations touch my heart.
And teach stillness and contentment in the now.

Late at the airport, in haste we arrived.
Rumbling plastic wheels rushing in unity,
from tarmac to marble to carpet;
the shuffling queue dispersed, finally.
Luggage swept away, adorned with labelling.
Black and white tags mark a future, awakening.
A marathon sprint to the gate, a race against time
but a man dressed in opaque black approaches
and with regret explains
how just one seat remained,
a voice I'd never forget.
You spoke longingly of your mother's dearest day
and I swayed,
watched as your shadow boarded
naive that I had just sealed our fates.
Now I sit, staring blankly
at your unopened case
wondering if we could've opened
a different timeline in a different space.
If only we'd chosen to stay, chosen to wait.
Regrets waft through the cy air,
a melancholy echo of what could've been,
remnants of a longing to a love unseen.

Morning dew in my newly bloomed red clover cloak
A warm breeze kissing my cheek
I want to bathe in the sunshine
This creature that I am
tasting the first sweets of spring
I want to hide away in the moss growing beneath my feet
To grow up into the branches of this cherry tree
Would she be my shelter
Please don't wake me from this dream
I smile, still stumbling from this intoxicating stupor
I paid heed to The Wild God's call
Luminous lullabies linger
The other world whispering longingly in my ear

Already longingly thinking 'bout spring
Kinda early but winter's not my thing
Love warm and sunny
Not cold and crummy
Listen... listen... the birdies do sing>

Can I speak without being dismissed?
My voice runs silent as the shadows persist.
Your painful missive eats at me.
Your grin ruefully brings me to my knees.
Sorrow and crying tears apart, my soul.
Now I am a shell in the shadows of woe.
Your violent, harsh words brings no hope.
I longingly look to the stars, I can never cope.
Relief is in my hands of metal grey.
Its muzzle is in my mouth as I pray.
Love you have won your prize.
My soul in the silent shadows rises.

You never said those words
They never left your lips
Until now
I thought it, hoped it
Longingly
Then the truth escaped
Like the steamy breath
Of an icy day
In Winter
This is too cold for me
The distance too far
To hear you fully
But my arms are still warm
My heart still beats
My ears miss your voice
I long
For the forgiveness call
Of Spring
With her green shoots
Of healing stillness
And hope
The whisper of Summer
The warmness of sun.
Therapy for the soul
I sit here and meditate
On you; your seasons
I still love them
Yet the barefoot dancing
Twirling on the green grass
In the sunshine.. still my favourite.
Perhaps
After all
A whisper is all we really need

Lost....
When I'm without you,
Simply I am lost.
Left on my own and lonely,
Outcast from all that’s glossy.
So far from my one and only,
Too many miles by hoof.
Told you,
I’m lost,
In the shadows,
aloof.
Longingly looking for you,
Only to find you’re not there.
Solidifying what's true,
To be found nowhere.
Liz White,
I’m lost,
Without you,
I despair.
In the echo of your absence,
I’m a whisper in the air.

An empty swing sways, lilting loneliness in the breeze,
With no children in play, no laughter's squeal to please,
Its rusty chain creaks a forlorn squeak for days gone by.
Like lonesome clouds that linger longingly in the sky.
The ropes are worn, the seat is torn, thread-bare.
The swing swings a lonely dance, with no one there.
It swings from the memory of when frolicking legs and arms.
Would pull it skyward, to thrust aloft its charms.
The wind blows dust tumbling through the ghost town,
Abandoned by the curse of salt in the ground-waters,
Caused by a wasteful irrigation scheme that shutdown.
Leaving the town barren, devoid of sons or daughters.
The willy-willy wisps of white crystal salt,
Lifts from the dust in the playground's remains.
Evoking ghostly images that twist and somersault
Through the rusty links on the swing link chains.
The empty swing swinging in the breeze,
Is a prayer-wheel, squeaking a mournful mantra hum,
That human greed drags nature down onto its knees,
Knowing what you've done, can't be undone.

An Alliterative Pursuit Of A Lover
I will firstly frankly forwardly forthrightly fastidiously befriend you.
Then I will completely correctly courteously candidly chastely court you.
Then whencesoever I have wonderfully wackily warmly wooingly won wed you,
I’ll be free to laughingly longingly lustily lecherously lasciviously licentiously lengthily ~ly ~ly ~ly ~ly ~ly ~ly ~ly ~ly ~ly ~ly ~ly ~ly ~ly ~ly ~ly ~ly ~ly
Gladly gently graciously gratefully gallantly grandly greatly love you forever.

When I think of you, a memory awaits.
So deep within me that walls crumble at the sheer force of your gaze.
When I think of you, a sweet smell arrives.
Like fresh baked buns or the odor of fresh flowers lingering in the air in spring.
When I think of you, nostalgia clings to me for a sore sight that shall never be viewed again. (Or was never seen in the first place.)
When I think of you, an emptiness like no other takes my hand where you should be.
When I think of you, I remember I have not met you yet and a tingling feeling takes place in my belly.
When I think of you, a path appears of new adventures and meets. I search longingly for you to find me and me to find you.
When I think of you, my smile fades and longing takes hold. I have found home
