?? Dashing through the mall,
With a coffee in my hand,
Frantic gift-card haul,
This wasn’t what I planned!
Sales are all but gone,
Shelves are looking bare,
How’d I wait this long again?
This really isn’t fair! ??
Chorus:
Oh, last-minute sleigh,
Rushing all the way,
Why’d I procrastinate?
Now I’ll overpay!
Last-minute sleigh,
Racing through the fray,
Next year I’ll shop early—but
Not today!
?? Amazon won’t ship,
It’s cutting close to time,
I’ll never live this down,
The guilt is now sublime!
Grandma’s scarf’s a bust,
My nephew’s out of luck,
Looks like it’s socks for everyone,
Or cash inside a truck! ??
Chorus:
Oh, last-minute sleigh,
Rushing all the way,
Fighting in the checkout line,
For candy canes! (How lame!)
Last-minute sleigh,
Holiday cliché,
But when we laugh about it all,
It’s still okay! ??
I wrote this at the last minute.
You know,
the minute before, I raced out the door.
I scrawled it out until the paper tore.
The thoughts I wanted to convey
about another hurried, scrambled day.
I spilled and splattered it on the page.
I was Jackson Pollock in a frantic rage.
My muddy, muddled words never tired.
My rutty, riddled will never expired.
This scratch was never worth any cash.
This paper crumpled and tossed in the trash.
On second thought, I recovered the script.
The meager text told a tale I never gripped.
I wrote this at the last minute.
You know,
the minute before, I raced out the door.
I’ve been rushing all day for the rest of my life, because I woke up late and didn’t pack the night before
I haven’t learned how to take things slow and appreciate how sweet molasses tastes falling before it touches my lips
Instead, I weave through traffic as if I could arrive to my destiny any quicker than yesterday’s repeated habits
I’m broken and it’s not just the crack in the mirror
My feelings and my mind got shattered into the broken China plate on the kitchen floor
You never really get all of the fractured glass swept up
How do I heal from what I can’t find
I admit some days I rather not find that broken piece of my reflection
I admit some days I rather not face that man in the mirror
It’s easier to numb yourself from the past than to learn from it
I should have paid more attention in class instead of the world
Hoping to see the growth of myself in someone else
But that’s not how a mirror works
Well, it’s time to go clock in
One last check to see what man I am going to be
One last goodbye to the man I used to be
Four seconds into tomorrow today
p.s. you aren’t in pieces, there is just a few undiscovered parts of the puzzle…
roses are red
violets are not
got off work late
that’s all they’ve got
Cars are bustlin’ and people are hustlin’,
The avenues are backed up with shoppers
Last minute hunters are getting frantic,
Christmas Eve comes on Friday of this week
One must come prepared for all the panic,
As Impulse buying is on the increase
With buyers getting more and more frantic,
The hubbub will last for another week
The helter-skelter probably won’t stop
And, I’m not going to last-minute shop!

[pardon me, but I took some liberties
with the rhyme for a traditional dizain]
And shall this piece of twisted wire
bring me all I could desire,
and will this ugly-looking button
that tears my flesh to shredded mutton,
grant me up there a first-row seat
where heavenly angels come to meet?
Can Heaven in mercy ever cover
my slaying children with their mother?
What of those maids in Paradise?
I yearn for them, but what's the price?
Lo, I behold a pale white dove.
Is this a sign from Heaven above?
No more to see the golden sun,
the silver moon when day is done?
Renounce the joys of married bliss
for an airy-fairy virgin's kiss?
Should I God's earthy gifts despise.?
There's time anon to Heavenwards rise.
If you are going to spring last minute changes on me,
let me know well in advance please.
In the last minute of this midnight madness
I said to you the one thing,
The very thing which is the essence
Of fulfillment and emptiness.
the bin by the door
overflows with umbrellas -
till’s steady ka-ching

I'm just digging myself deeper
Can't stop
Won't stop
Don't stop
Till I get to where you are
Tendrils of smoke
Are they turning into
Strands of red ribbons
Or is that just an illusion
In my head
Want to be his tequila sunrise
Not the first
But want to be the last
The rays of sunlight
Burning in your memory
Ain't perfect
Not the same every time
Ain't perfect
Not the same every time
But I'll make sure I'm
Worth your every
Last minute
Time a ticking
As the sunset fades
Into twilight
Getting to the store quick on the double,
their faces look anxious and troubled,
minutes to spare,
pulling out their hair,
caffeine the hustle in their bustle.

The last minute wonder.
The nick of time saviour.
At Hells door I lay.
A willing candidate for destruction.
For I had exhausted my wealth on the acquisition of wild pleasures.
There His grace found me.
Those amazing hands that dragged me back to life.
That love that fed me with the living waters.
That Jesus that transformed me into a living stone.
That Jesus that made me a holy nation.
The God of the last minute.
In total disarray, my life was.
At its lowest ebb, my joy was.
At its dying breath, my faith was.
At a crumbling state, my security was
With a firm padlock, my doors of favour was shut.
I encountered many tragedies,
Tried many remedies.
Ran from pillar to post.
Huge debts, my purse grossed.
To the world, I became a ghost
At the nick of time.
God's favour came.
His blessings rained.
A new song, He put in my mouth.
Olorun Sergio Ramos.
The God of the last minute changed my story.

First kiss from my mother
A three year old gets hug from her father
Amazing to learn the first letter
Playing with my brother looks great
Good looking in a graduation cap
A dimple on my cheeks on the sight of my prince
Running through every incident of my life
opened my eyes,saw me bleed
I lost my breath
The memories will always last
The last minute
The one we wait for our entire lives
That appointment with destiny
We all deny exists
But it's always there
Gnawing at the back of your brain
Each passing moment
You are a little closer to the end
Or is it just the end of the beginning?
And when you get there how will you go
Gracefully, violently, suffering, or with no regrets?
Will an angel whisper in your ear
Or will Satan be smiling sardonically?
Ah, these are the questions that no soul can answer
For the things you do in this life
May mean nothing in the next
Or they may mean everything
Search for the truth and if you find it
Let me know
Because I know a guy who is in the market
If you know what I mean…
Breezing through hectic
Missed the soupers already
Wait until I'm done
Lack of sleep, struggling
Gaze on a book fell asleep
Can't wait for an end
Holiday hear me!
I lean on you already
Startled my day by your gift
