Jabs Poems | Examples

Reflection of my best friend!

My best friend walks beside my soul,
Not always seen, but always whole.
We talk in ways the world won’t hear,
In jokes and jabs and thoughts sincere.

We’re echoes in a common shell,
Two minds where one truth loves to dwell.
We share the heat of daily light,
And wrap each other through the night.

55 seconds still, no sound,
Yet louder peace is rarely found.
In silence, storms begin to slow,
We trade our highs, confess our low.

One day, the world will understand,
How friendship doesn’t need a hand.
Just rigorous, kind observation
A glance, a pause, a revelation.

I met him once not far, not wide,
But looking from the other side.
A mirror framed our secret blend
Myself, and still—my truest friend.

Premium Member Picking at Scabs - Apr 9

—it’s the black boil on bursting, boiling ribs—
on my midleft chest, brewing bungled churns,
[tighteningmybreath], again, again, it yearns,
it begs*, “just one (just two) more (well-earned) rub(s)!”

—giving in, it’s just picking at the scabs—
first brief relief( ):the itch at once returns
as soon’s the finger’s left the welt; it burns
and gnaws more hotly—awful pangs, sore jabs!

now, Doctor says I’d best not touch it if
I’d like to heal—“lucky to leave just a scar”—
only, I hate the texture of the crust…
why’s my mind got to be so god, damned, stiff?
though abstinence feels so blunt, so bizarre,
I’d like to heal, I give his word my trust.

Thresholds

One last Carolina Wren
jabs and hops
inside a shrinking ring of pale sunlight.

At the white door of a cold season
the wind dresses a scarecrow
with the spiny feathers
of the already dead.

Ice scabs pockmark a creaking earth.
A green legend
sinks deeper with every sunset.

We walk in our pockets
hands clasping at the blood-heat
of secretive shadows.
Boots tread through the sludge.
of an ever-lowering sky.

Ice pinholes vision,
one eye remains veiled,
the other
turns like a lighthouse.

Thresholds slip away
unreached.

Premium Member The Boxer - in Trumps own words

I play by the rules day in and day out,
Showing my class, wielding my clout.
I take the hard blows time and again,
Knowing my patience shan't be in vain.

Joe's on the ropes, all by himself,
Waiting around to be dumped on the shelf,
Restraint is my friend, as I pull back and watch,
Those flailing wild jabs I so easily dodge.

There's one rule to fighting, it's Biding your time,
Showing him up, using his dime,
Keeping ones cool, letting him dance,
Then all in one motion - destructively prance.

There's rhyme to the reason for the 12
Rounds to be,
So everyone knows, all clearly can see,
The prowess of one, the demise of the other,
An abject defeat, no spin as a buffer.

The guys just a has been yet I'm giving him grace,
Watching him flail, not setting the pace,
The fun's in the waiting, a matter of time,
For him to fall over, his crown to be mine.

Muscle and Heart

The bell rings out loudly, signals the start,
must earn my keep through the pugilist’s art,
my foe is a tall one, beats me in reach,
to get in close my trainer sought to teach,
where those long arms won’t do him any good,
but right now his jabs hit link planks of wood,
I bob and weave, and I duck some of them,
but he’s a trip-hammer, again and again.
Duck and dive in, swing straight for hit gut,
just missing his skull, and a nasty headbutt,
like old Marciano, I pound at his ribs,
to steal the man’s breath, like Mickey Ward did.
He grimaces, struggles, but doesn’t play tough,
just does the smart thing, and ties my arms up,
the ref break us up, both of us can breathe,
then jabs come again, my eye starts to bleed,
but I break the jab, and drive close on in,
the blood just the cost for getting near him;
a hard way to make a dollar, that’s true,
but what else is a man like me to do?
I’ve known all along that I ain’t that smart,
and always got by on muscle and heart.

trickling streams   enlist fingers stroke
translating silent stares script air bubbles

soul skirmishes dying   and breath twitches
her amort jabs shatter blind eyes

soft breaths   linger aphonic   sighs
surfboarding alongside rocky creeks

you wish to decry me with   metaphors
whispered secrets   shared solely betwixt us

words untied    weighed by fireflies glow
bemoaning to aurify   amid fiery   solar flares

hoping for air in a pathless stream
let me shed words from   balm of dry lips

you said that   you might catch them

I've seen the way a glass dances, though
slips through your fingers   and shatters

I hear a forlorn violin   pluck its strings
catacombs lurk in a hollow cage

when it beleaguers, it wails and shrieks
an uncaged spirit walks with a dog

left, just a beshrew echo in a silent world

Fellow prisoners..For such are we all. Our will contained
At the very least, in the body of flesh, our time being as
Long as it takes, for as long.? Or short as it is! Or maybe
You are in a prison of concrete; and steel? Like Julian' or
So many others? (falsley convicted as were the postal
Cerks.!!) Who worked under the crown emblem..Such a
Great branding..? Or are you in hospital, a victim of a bad
Accident? Or a casualty of malicious actions maybe you
Were coerced into the plan of the jabs-worthy's? And
You are under assault by sickness and regret.?? Yet all
Of us in many aspects are prisoners..The only true way
To freedom is through entering into Gods Kingdom..'
The only gate being Jesus, from whom all good things
Come' may the reader of this text be blessed with true
Discernment and a clear mind, amen and amen.!

MELIORISM

MELIORISM
This world stings like the scorpion,
And I will not filter in her tears,
This I said because I’m a champion,
Only throwing jabs, it really wears!
Like the faeces of a chameleon,
She stinks in her odourless sheers,
Truly this world bites in oblivion.

And never to be seen in klaipeda _
The elysian sky has deceived me,
Leaving behind their propaganda;
This dark ominous mangles me...
The tenet of retronym in obscurity,
Why we can walk without security.

The quell for fairness may wither,
As we skulk in together!
The gargoyle mole of pains...
Hardship is  loose and  unfettered;
As we wallow in this sane oneiric,
That never sought for the kindred,
Of conflate moth of harangue...
The axiomatic mild of the youths,
The automatic bunkum in heroism,
The cosplay to this hilarious pains,
The syringe to my bitter whinge.

To saudade for the shadows of life,
A vain wait for meliorism!
When will it get back bitterly better?

I would be the heavyweight champion of the world

Hope-hoisted held high

Illumining then instructing

Jubilantly pursuing joy
junking jabs of wrong judgment
Kindling kindness

Pouring Light

Cigar but no cigar
extinguished by the elders
Gaslighting commissioners held in tweed
The night people slide in between

Pouring light
velvet dolls
play with their own discord
electric spears happenstance
pale Harlequins of the night
scratch their gilded fears

outstretched hands
that jabs the line
of ghost trains

Stacked chips
sequined starlets shinge
Rhinestone streakers parade
paying homage
to pipers never paid
who snort energy in spoons

Premium Member The Mean Girls Club

I heard that there is a group called the mean girls club.
An elite group of poetesses that some like to snub.
A strong group of women who have each other’s backs,
and band together against petty and meaningless attacks.

There must be some jealousy from some not in our group,
as they continue to throw jabs and daggers in the blog soup.
We enjoy writing our poems as we express our rights,
while others continue to only see us in a negative light.

Let us know if you want to join our supportive club,
as we continue to ignore the negativity and rise above.
I am a proud lifetime member of this mean girl’s group,
and will continue to defend my friends, that is the scoop!

Wren

A Carolina Wren
bobs and weaves
inside a ring of sunlight.

It is shadow boxing,
but there are no shadows

yet it still jabs and moves.

A boxer
fights the shadow of himself.
