Holding the Bag

If you own a dog, at some point you
Will be carrying a bag of poo,
At least if you’re considerate
And follow laws regarding s#%*.
There are some, though, who flout the rules
And think that bagging crap’s for fools.

A joke said, aliens did land
And, struggling to understand,
Determined that the smarter race
Were not the humans, for their place
Was picking up whatever lot
Their masters left with every squat.

In any case, when doggies do
Their business, making number two,
Their owners might hold back a gag
But will be left to hold the bag,
Unless, of course, that they refuse
And leave the mess for others’ shoes.

Premium Member Book Report - Phantom of the Opera

The phantom of the opera was sincere,
but, with him, I wouldn't want to share a beer.
Not only that, but furthermore, in any case,
have you ever happened to see his face?

A spectral figure, clothed in red,
he had no face upon his head.
High o'er Paris on an opera house roof,
she described that phantom goof -

here is what our pretty Christine said
about our hero whom she had misled,
"he's a monster, a loathsome beast",
an understatement, to say the least.

Premium Member Never Rush to Perish

Be careful on the road, don’t rush in speed!
In any case, the speed limit, you shouldn't exceed
With caution, at every bend, you proceed
To all traffic rules and guidelines, pay heed.
Know well to what misery, reckless driving can lead
Let your conscience never reproach you on a rash deed.

Ode to evil war

What if the heart of man
     admitts only something
inherent like light like logic or
    nature or a kind lovely
      better of?.
You see we take care not to
     confuse well being for
     peace or business for economy
   or being dying for revitalization
or rodenty for let say bee or sun or corn or fish.
    Yes?, because we wore uniform
that time in the school doesn't
in any case meant the country is almost acquainted
with killings killings and a through murder familiarity
or for goodness sake howsoever mocking
     is modernism?.
 Assuming weapon is a suggestion
now, is man not a fragile glass?.

A Small Surprise

On my morning walk, which is
Adjacent to the river,
A small surprise is sometimes what
The city does deliver.

So yesterday, I heard a thump,
Metallic, so I slowed,
Expecting that a hubcap flew
From somewhere on the road.

Instead, I saw a sewer cover
Quaking as it rose
And crashed back down above a spot
Where the East River flows.

Thought number 1: a creature
Would be rising from the deep
And then his scaly self into
My neighborhood would creep.

Thought number 2: a prisoner
(Like “Shawshank”) would break free
Because from Rikers Island
There’s a chance that it could be.

Thought number 3: the river (high)
Would suddenly erupt
And shoot that cover skyward
In a manner most abrupt.

In any case, I hurried on
Without a backward glance,
Not willing, having had those thoughts,
To take the slightest chance.

Tooth Number 17

My husband had his tooth pulled;
It was number 17.
With pain involved, extracting it
Was easily foreseen.

Our grandson pointed out he missed
By just a single date,
Tooth Fairy Day (the 28th),
But it’s up for debate…

If he would rate a visit
Since our granddaughter was sure
The fairy comes for baby teeth;
The rest have no allure.

In any case, the tooth is out;
The pain will not persist
And we found out tooth 17
Won’t even be much missed.

Warriors

As stated in the heart of the Warriors creed, Warriors are not the ones who always win, they are the ones who always fight.
They are the ones that eradicate sin and shatter the darkness with their eternal ethereal glowing light.
When seeing injustice, they turn not the blind eye by permitting it to continue in silence.
Diplomacy, concern, consideration and love takes precedence in any case of unnecessary violence.

Scratch Off

My nephew scratched his ticket
For the lottery, to find
He’d won a rather hefty sum;
It really blew his mind.

Which made me think, does everyone
Who plays expect this news?
If so, perhaps to win at last
Means one has paid his dues.

In any case, I hope this windfall
Helps some plans to hatch
And doesn’t cause an outcome
That is not quite up to scratch.

Path

PATH

Follow me along this path, she said
Ignore the whispers you may hear
And be sure to keep a gentle tread
No need for worry, naught to fear
You’ll see a different world instead

Through the trees, leaves pushed aside
She walks ahead, a path I mustn’t lose
Two paces back, so we don’t collide
Is this a new future I should choose
But what if she and others have lied

Then into a lighter clearing we emerge
The midday sun is warm upon my face
But no turning back, despite any urge
As that world is no more in any case
As she looks at me, my emotions surge

This was a portal to a new beginning
It seemed the right new future for me
Less about losing, more about winning
As I already sense this is my ascendancy
What was a solid reality is now thinning

A Girl With Beauti

When I saw that girl ,
my mind got hack .
I tried for many times ,
but couldn't get back .

she was so beautiful
and her eyes were stars .
I could listen her heartbeat
whether I was so far .

her thoughts were too lovely
and she was full of intelligence.
I love her voice so much ,
she has a lot of patience.

her lips were melodious
and hairs were curly .
In her lovely eyes ,
I fell early.

I ever pray to God
that keep smile on her face,
o God ! never give a single drop of tear
and sadness in any case.

New Years Day 2023
By Franklin Price
01/01/2023

It is another New Years morn
The year is twenty twenty-three
I awoke with my Christ Jesus
Dwelling deep inside of me

This day is also Sunday
I will worship in his church
A week ago was Christmas
The day we celebrate his birth

He walks beside me every day
Guides my every step through life
Has brought me through another year
In which He took my darling wife

He took away her hurt and pain
She's with him on Heaven's shore
When New Years falls on Sunday next
It will be twenty thirty-four

Christ may call me home by then
To join her by His side
In any case, He's always with me
In His comfort I abide

For those of you who read this
I pray you also take His hand
And believe He will return for you
And take you to the promised land

May this year of twenty twenty-three
Bring you joy and peace and love
I pray you believe in Jesus
For He is watching from above

The Aftermath

Emotions are still high
But I do think of you still,
You've been in the sky
 For several months now.

Since then, a lot has changed in our lives,
But you are still here with me.
Providing me with direction through
This game is my very own personal hope.

I treasure all of my memories of you,
They will never go away.
You are there with me, even though
I cannot get hold of you.

I constantly shed a torrent of tears
Whenever I go to bed .
However, I am certain that you
Will appear in my dreams and
Shield me from my fears.

Because today is just another
Day, like all the others.
You'll in any case be
Here with me tomorrow.

You were the best NYAWINO
Forever engraved in my heart.

Premium Member Never Give Up

My mama said “never give up, whatever you do!”
You can be anything you want to be in America
I’m not entirely sure that’s altogether true
In any case, it holds more promise than Africa.

You can be anything you want to be in America
When you’re down, someone will help you get up
In any case, it holds more promise than Africa,
Where so much more is required than a chin-up.

When you’re down, someone will help you get up
With determination, ambition, and grit you’ll succeed
Where so much more is required than a chin-up
Persistence pays, as Mama said, never concede!

Suggestion

How never ending is space-time cycle!
and think how long our lives are in it's light?
We happened to meet in eternity
No train to go, clouds to pour rain all night

Chennai is six hundred kilometers
You can't walk up to that in any case.
This waiting room we're in, is a blessing
We can't bring trains willingly to this place

This backward station and we're passengers
Only two; I feel much lonely, and you?
          Think, in centuries' continuation
We're here alone for a night, what's the clue?

Now, why are you sitting aside from me?
Are you satisfied with these barren scenes?
Both of us have to return, we're alone!
we are alone, it's raining on intervenes!

I understand whispering of these drops
I love it very much when the lightning strikes
Put your bag down, understand need of time
It's eleven O' clock, what the rest night likes?

Premium Member Just the Facts, Please

If I would be known as an advocate
Let it be for what’s just and fair,
As I see it, telling it right and straight
The truth is not in a lot of hot air!
In any case, I would much rather
Hear the story from original sources,
Unembellished with a lot of blather
So, let me rely on my own resources.
Opinion is opinion; news is news!
Tell me in plain terms what happened
Don’t give me any secondhand views,
Or try to persuade with a chart, and
Insult me with other “expert” points
I’m not interested in the sensational,
Your network’s biased viewpoints,
News should not be confrontational.
Tell me who, what, when, and where
Work your way from major to minor
Tell me the facts and leave it there,
For me, the evening news will be finer.
