Nip my nose! Pound at my core!
I’ll frame a warm blanket ‘round thighs and toes.
Decorate with icicles door-to-door!
My darling and me, nuzzling like eskimos.
Together we can take anything that Winter throws.
Throw a softball of snow my way
and I will merrily call in the snowmen brigade.
They come armed with carrots and stones…olé!
Dear Winter, who will come to your aid?
I shiver! I’m afraid!
Forget about that, I’ll take a nice sleigh ride
down a glistening hill,
with my honey-bear by my side.
With speed bumps, it’s quite a thrill.
Please Winter, don’t set out to kill.
Bitty flakes on my lashes, shoulders; I shake.
My sweetheart will take off my scarf, coat and boots.
So warm by the hearth, we’ll not soon awake.
Before that…we drink cocoa, eat cake with dried fruits.
We will dream of you, Old Man Winter and your pursuits.

walking down the street
we hold hands for all
the world to see
and steal a kiss or two,
you are my honey bear,
I am your sweetheart,
laughter fills the air
as we share a private
joke which reminds us
of how we think alike
and enjoy each other's
company strolling down
the street as a duet
stepping in stride

My golden boy dog Tancred Oengus Ler,
More often known as Tannie Bear,
Is always of two minds.
One a gentle, knightly mien, “a ladies' man”,
the other lusty and feisty,
when roused to tussle by his vixen she dog, out of hand.
A contented giant of even moods,
'Til his courage must best the ire of a grumpy foe.
Later, patiently and nobly awaiting attention or food,
Then stubbornly defending a treat, not letting go.
His massive blond fur curls into ringlets,
When running surf and swimming far at salty beaches.
He’ll calmly keep me company there 'til sun sets.
Great love and patience are the gifts his life teaches.
Feverishly fetching balls and sticks as time flies by,
He’ll steal gloves from your pocket on the sly.
He loves to roll in the grass and finds it a tasty snack,
When he’s not paws to the sky, rubbing some itch on his back.
Oh, my wise old friend, my Honey Bear,
Though you loathe the brush and you’re not a cuddly thing,
You’ll listen endlessly as I chatter and sing.
The secrets to a happy life you are aware,
I pray we walk many more miles before your last fling.

Baby girl Scarlett....
Take a look at your room
There's a Monkey on a Zebra
With a funny Baboon
You hold the honey Bear
Your number one squeeze
They all gather 'round
For your tea party
It's a zoo around here
A zoo around here
Scarlett, every day
Is a zoo around here
You're having soooo much fun
With your furry little friends
Do I have to pay to get in??
So you want me to pay to get in!
There's a Lion and a Tiger
Playing with a Parrot
And a little bunny Rabbit
Munching on a carrot
The sign on the wall
Makes it plain enough
Don't feed the animals!
They're already stuffed!
It's a zoo around here!!

Susie teetered into Bill’s office, wearing a skintight miniskirt
Sat on Bill’s knee for dictation. She was an outrageous flirt
Soon Bill was smitten and couldn’t resist her ample charms
He forgot about his wife and kids and fell into Susie's arms
That was the lusty beginning of their clandestine love affair
Young Susie is a man-eater and calls Bill her "Honey Bear"
Bill’s wife discovered his deception and asked for a divorce
She’ll keep it out of the media for a huge settlement, of course!
As soon as his divorce was finalised he made Susie his wife
Susie’s only twenty. Bill wanted a carer for the rest of his life
Bill’s eighty-five years old and Susie stroked his thinning hair
and denies her attraction to him is that Bill’s a multi millionaire!
They say age doesn’t matter, especially when you are ‘in love’
That depends if you’re the ‘secretary’ who's married to ‘the ‘guv’!
Within a year Bill was dead and Susie worked for another VIP
I've heard she takes dictation while sitting naughtily upon his knee
Age doesn’t matter when you’re in love Contest

younger than her older brother
still the first of her only mother
she came second on the chart
but tied for first inside my heart
so many years that she has left
so much time to develop depth
to become a woman and find a man
to have a life she can understand
I'll always be here for you my dear
you'll always be daddy's honey bear
through the ups, and downs, lows, and highs
I'll love you always without compromise
no matter what you do or say
I'll be here for you every day
at times when you need me and times when you don't
I'll always be around to embarrass you the most
when you call the house late at night
I'll answer with "is everything all right"
because life without you would be defeat
because life without you would be incomplete

I somehow made friends with my enemy,
the one who always pestered me,
feverishly competing for my sweet honey,
I would never give in for love nor money.
He buzzed around my head one day,
asking if there he could rest away,
he promised to watch me as I indulged,
soon my bear belly began to bulge.
I'm now good friends with the bee,
my fondness for honey was because of he,
I would never let our friendship spoil,
So there was no reason for us to quarrel.
I then admitted to that annoying bee,
That without him I couldn't have sweet honey,
So now he always rests upon my head,
I'm stung with sweet friendship while I'm fed.

our words are born, not spoken.
Dimensional, soft voweled words,
palpable to the eye or to the fingertip ...
exquisitely curved, as the young that wildflowers conceive.
Often I have watched your lips shape words
and your tongue nudge them out like small birds
not certain of their wings.
Your sweetest words
are those shaped ovally
like plums or wild birds' eggs.
The long bright ribbons you laugh
the multitudes of hyacinth and bluebells.
When I see words like soft gray catkins I know
they are of romance whatever else my ears register.
Your mouth is like the flesh of a ripe fig,
I often want to take your words unsaid.
The brown honey-bear slips his red tongue into
the nest of sleeping bees.
Slurping out the honey as they sleep.
The sweet natural taste.
The pussy-willow feel of your words
is lovelier than their shape or music.

We have plans to meet for a talk
You got alternate plans around the block
When I pull up you're not there
Call you on the phone
You're with your honey bear
Sick of you wasting my time
Now I've got something else in mind.
It ain't you
I got other things to do
It's girls night out
We're supposed to let loose and shout
Gonna pick you up
Said you'll pay my way
Too bad that wasn't how it played
Last minute you bail
I'm upset in my stomach
Second place has grown too stale
Sick of you wasting my time
Now I've got something else in mind.
It ain't you
I've got other things to do
Insanity is making the same mistake more than once
Feel like I'm living in a funnel cloud of psychos
It's be enough to get any man running on his toes.
For once, I claim dignity while I have an ounce
Can't take this,
This is a feeling I wont miss.
Adios Seniorita, hope time is good to you
The only way your husband will make it
Is if you drug him or be becomes subdued

Three truant scholars spending our sabbaticals
in crisp Colorado, we all re-read Walden,
dared to drink from streams so icy clear
the fish seemed suspended in mid-air.
Our flimsy nylon shelters shielded us
from what weather there was to worry on,
as summer slipped to autumn
and autumn waned winterward.
Four full years past we trekked those trails
through stands of timber frequented by fox,
by birds, by deer -- and by growling grizzlies.
We walked well-wooded hillsides
of mixed conifers and broadleaf.
In deep drafts we breathed the earthy air.
Now, when my son hugs his honey bear,
red-jacketed, black-button eyed,
I see the hellish maw, the bloodied claw,
of the darkish-brown raging beast
that tore off my arm and maimed
two sages, amid the yellow quaking aspen
where, yet, that gory grizzly ages.

Planning on crossing over
where footprints of night
are ne'er seen...
There fish are spawning
in clear blue stream ~
Surrounded by verdant green;
Nature begins speaking to me.
An antiquated chine-wood bridge
gracefully arches it back
with sturdy braids makes a path ~
That I may cross to a place serene
Where nightingales and crickets sing
It's a place where I do my thinking
Unafraid to shed my skin ~
by dusk as honey bear I may roam,
by dawn take flight as an eagle
I may be found soaring toward home.
Upon opening mine eyes
I come to realize the colors of the skies
Yes, I've crossed that bridge before

If only I can tell you how I feel, would things change? (Laugh-friends??)
Will my broke heart heal, or will it continue to die? Would you care?
Will I still be your honey bear,sweetie-bear,cutie bear, baby-bear or even a friend? If I can let you see would you feel my pain?
And let you see to understand. Would you step up to the plate and be a man?!?
Or will you continue this little childish game?
And see what you put me through each and every single day.
And if I can let you hear the pain, would you listen? Would your love dry my tears?
Yes there is a saying; saying trade shoes:
But we wouldn’t because you wouldn’t be able to handle what I go through every day!
You might get up and quench, and shake!
But then I wonder if I can tell you would you even listen?
Next thing you know I have a snotty attitude saying: I dint want to talk, or have no
dealings with you anymore!! But again I can’t because the love I feel for you is true.
That’s why I can continue to say If only you knew

In that lost book,
morning-glory
twines among eglantine,
honeysuckle
and nameless blooms.
The black space between
hides what a child
in time may learn:
the dark edge of the screen
suggesting all
that lies beyond,
imagined but unseen.
