So, from birth we’re taught to aim high.
Not the height of the garden fence, the side wall, the house but for the stars in the sky.

So, we’re indoctrinated to believe that the acquisition of power and wealth is the meaning of life!
Slaved to the pound all our working lives.

So, the new car, the new house, the new kitchen reflects our success in this ‘life’!
My shoes cost £800 pounds you know and they fit just alright.

The killer instinct in business is the gold medal that’s needed to survive!
What about kindness and compassion… oh, I’m sorry those the spreadsheet does not a column or row provide!

Work hard, work fast, work harder, work faster and work until you die.
Good luck if that’s you, but for me that’s just not a life.

Premium Member Helenas High Hopes for Humanity

heavily haggard Helena’s haphazard hilarity of harmony
homogenized her humble habitat, in no way hampering her
humanitarian handicap. Hazy harshness hastened
a heartening of her highness’s high hopes for humanity.

A Great Dane and a Sausage dog were tied outside a bar
The Sausage dog was frisky and his instincts said, ‘Aha!’
And then they sniffed each other’s butt ’cause that’s how doggies greet
The Sausage dog said, ‘Hi there girl, do you think I’m sweet?’

They chatted and decided that they’d do what doggies do
The Great Dane chuckled. ’Hey up shorty, I’m too tall for you.’
But Sausage had it figured and he climbed up on a chair
He boasted, ‘Take a breath because you’re in for quite a scare.’

And as he started thrusting, as had been his master plan
Two stones were thrown up - from the street - by a passing van
They hit the Great Dane on the head, one smooth but one was rougher
She groaned aloud and Sausage said, ‘Suffer baby, suffer!’

We go to bed
with high hopes
The electricity will
resume in the morning.
Voila!
Magic.

January 31 2015 High Hopes

You have high hopes
For your kids
To grow up and
"Learn the ropes."

Then they grow
And soon you know
If this kid is
Gonna go.

Go to the moon,
Go far and soon
Their dreams take
Flight and soar.

They roar like lions,
Soar like eagles
To treetops.

Premium Member High Hopes Again

Before we implode or reach cluster one
What do you want from me, as you humans dry run
We are Poles apart in what you and I do
Marooned you will be, if you don't turn to be true

I am only but a sphere, but your wearing the inside out
Our futures lost for words as we enter life's drought
There is time for dialogue to take it back
Will it be a great day for freedom, or will we enter our black

Around the table of powers we have to keep talking
We had high hopes when we stooped, we may cease to stop walking
It beggars belief that we are heading into strife
Maybe one day we'll acknowledge, that were coming back to life

High Hopes

Soul singed and burnt nerves,
Beer batter and deep fry hopes.

Deluge of sorrows, flood of fears
Wipe those tears, have dry hopes.

Walk through the shadow of doubt
Climb a mountain, touch the sky hopes.

You stomp on my dreams,
But you won’t crush my hopes.

The sky won’t fall today,
Held up by so many high hopes
