True Friends

I always knew you’d be there with your caring and concern.
I always knew you’d have my back when I had nowhere to turn.
I always knew I could count on your support no matter what.
All these things I always knew, but somehow you forgot.
Each day I’ve waited patiently for just one little word,
but the days go

Friends, but not really

you, on the other side of the screen
will jump off the bridge within moments of request

That Pause Between Summer and Autumn

School was out, setting her free in summer -
free to tell friends bye, be lonely and cry.
Tears would spill for a best friend of one year
who she had learned would in time forget her.
Most teens knew same place and faces through school.
Military brats do not live that truth.

Summer would decide her joy for school's start.

Where have the readers gone?
Why are books so unattractive?
Could it be the style of writing or even their covers?
Years ago many would share their books with friends,
telling them the book was a must read.
Does the book hold the reader,

A young girl,
An old lady,
A mother of two,
A passionate dancer—
All were friends of mine.

Across the decades,
Through Chennai floods
And Hindi classes,
They stood with courage and quiet dedication.
Their words—scattered notes of inspiration,
Their choices—prompt, firm, and full of grace.

They stood as ideals—
In studies, in marriage,
In hobbies and in ageing gracefully.
