And so it goes down through the ages
The bigger and taller devour the littler and smaller

Monkeys, bears, fish, tigers, turtles, ants
All species find their food at hand
Only man has to dig, fertilize, plow and water the land

Why, for Heaven’s sake? Well, that’s just it
Heaven is interested in man’s entreaties
He wants man to grow closer and closer to Him
~ as well as eat His Wheaties

Premium Member A Sickness

   you're
damaged goods,
      people say
    many
       implored me
to run,
    not walk,
              far away
from you;
    they told me
             loving you
was a sickness,
      but I'd take
my chances
fighting
      against
the beast within....
   a feeling
that keeps on
      b l o o m i n g
in my heart
            for you
I'm deaf
to all entreaties.
it's me and you
           v e r s u s
 all of humanity!
if my devotion to you
is indeed...
         "a sickness"
then...
I want
     no cure,
I need
     no doctor,
and I'll take
     no drugs;
I'd rather remain...
sick.

Incubus

I felt his weight on top of me;
I tried to move and wriggle free.
He had me pinned I couldn’t breathe,
Too weak, I couldn’t help but seethe.

His face I could not see because
His hands pressed on my eyes like paws.
All I perceived was his dark form
As he his evil deed perform.

Hot tears welled up, flowed down my cheeks
In long and crooked violent streaks
But still this savage beast from Hell
No soft entreaties can repel.

And so I silently gave up,
And yield as he with malice sup;
My head was filled with muffled scream,
I prayed that all was but a dream.

Here I am weary in my entreaties,
there’s no one here but a man and his dog
alone among my rambling reveries
and a small libation to clear its fog.
To God bespoken that I may foresay
my own confessions at the water’s edge,
where the dull debris of time ebbs away
and harbingers of death gaze from their ledge.
For here upon this cold Stygian sea
drifts a hollow vessel its depths to fade -
a broken wreckage of a lost glory
where hope is sunk and its memory laid.
Look, all I ask and all I want from you,
Lord, is to have my cake and eat it too.

Premium Member One Among You

but there standeth one among you, whom ye know not;

He wakes and walk with you,
His breath gives you Life,
He fashioned you in the womb,
He saw You soaked in your blood,
form conception to the birth.
I give Life he whispers.

the creator of the universe,
walk his earth in every home,
He kept you still, though a rebel you remain,
with entreaties beckoning in love,
Open to me Your impenitent heart,
I am the Way, the Truth and The Life.

Your fickle frame you hold so dear,
and bid Him come another day,
His mercies kept and keeps you still,
while others as young and virile
passing the vale into eternity
Live Live, Bruised for thee.

Dispel your impenitent heart and seek Jesus,
see the imminence of the doom,
bow to the Judge and Let Him in,
Even You can come.
For His cross admit the worst.
"Let me in" I'll give you rest

Cape Cod Boy

A warring feat
expands beneath
petite and huge contends,
a unique line
tugging the brine
taunting as it suspends,
a juvenile
bear naught a smile
a glimpse enigma lends,
too close to shore
new hopes implore
that cod and haddock wends,
true tasty meats
fresh scene unseats
entreaties pleased extends,
aspect well made
fulfilled persuade
the wait, the catch godsends.

Monday Morning

leaden clouds obscure the light
in the darkness eyes cannot see
visions distant are hidden away
falling rain drops block the sight

rain drops fall stealing warmth
	and chilling wind carries away
hopes that might else be found
within the beating of the heart

strength does weaken and fall away
	trembling flesh falls to earth
mud does simply give away
	supporting not forlorn hopes

distant lightning within the clouds
	rolling thunder here unheard
might that will change the earth
	bringing hope known not here

hope does flicker in beating heart
strength of spirit is not quenched
vision turning lifting up
to the heavens that are unseen

arms are lifted and hands cupped
	entreaties uttered from the heart
seeking of what might be
a boon sought within the storm

wind does chill fragile flesh
	rain that falls cannot clean
clouds might steal the light from eyes
storm cannot take the hope within

Premium Member Life In Equilibrium

Hushed mystic quests esoteric intellect
As quietude permeates domain of truth
Ruminating about things done and said
Reflecting upon the avenues of regrets
Reminiscing on boulevards of conquests
Tallying up all the triumphs and defeats
Wailing in futility of feats and fantasies.

What has been, cedes to what could be
Beyond pensive boundaries of mortality
Illuminating today in meditative reverie
Transcending the mundane, the ordinary,
The futile worries confused in ambiguities.

Ambitious past now seeks new meaning
As dissonant arguments lose appeals
And wisdom draws from ethereal spirits
And enlightenment ascends satori feelings
Where grief is no longer as dominating
And happiness no longer as demanding--
For material things forfeit their entreaties.

Life in equilibrium of peace and serenity
Aspires to poise of supreme understanding
Buoying on clout of calmness and clarity,
No longer stirring what could have been
Seeing everyday as the essence of being
In eternal halo of a cognitive awakening.

Premium Member Faded Feelings

Bricks of pain heaved on feeble frame
Hell’s ring tone in fragile ears
Exits incomparable in life’s little memory
A goddess gone, the pillar of a heart’s strength.

Lured above reason by fables,
By mean mortals of and kings of calumny
“They said, and the tattlers said”
to the end of a structure so rare.

This trust is tested,
As hope crumbles
Among dark rumors by strange marauders,

A heart nurtured for stranger’s gains
An Oprah’s regret found in Ruth.
All entreaties as weak words they fall,
And so must I let the bird fly to her nest,
Into hideouts carved by her lust and greed,
Seeking a heaven in hell’s lies.

A foretelling powers of bygone times
Pronounced this exit by lightning's speed.
Goodbye to true parleys of the heart,
An End to the dream by imputed fables.

A shaking of wind, a tossing of sea
A tornado of earth’s fires
A true test of oaths and love
Goodbye to what men call love.
now and forever know.

Eros is a stranger to agape

Just when you have abandoned all hope
You have tried everything, and nope
She's ignored all entreaties...
Just then your true sweetie
The gal you'll call wife
Into your life
The wind blows --

Premium Member Regrets

Frank S. had a few
  But then again
'Too few to mention'

Yet to this, my plea
  Please take heed
Very kindly, pay attention

Who hasn't had
  affairs of love
that ended bad
  full elbow shove

Down on one knee
  in misery
Pure discontent-ion...

The flame returned
  but you got burned
Entreaties spurned
  both fists clenched and --

You vowed, "No more!"
  there on the floor
in Regret's descension

But know one thing
  There comes the Spring
and Love will bloom
  So, give it room

And then, once more
  True Love will soar
~ Your Heart's Ascension!

         ********
Yes, know one thing
   There comes the Spring
When roses bloom
   So give them room

And once again
True Love will send
   ~ Your heart a-winging!

Pledge Drive

I'm ready for some music;
The radio's all set,
But begging me for money
Is all that I can get.

The pleading is relentless,
Yet does beseeching serve?
For constant supplications
Really get on my last nerve.

To turn off their entreaties,
Subtle as a striking sledge,
I simply switch the station;
No allegiance will I pledge.

Turning the Page

She gets up
From the bed
Stark naked
Last night
She had got rid
Of all her
Doubts, inhibitions
Shedding her wedding ring
Before shedding
Her clothes
The ring
Carelessly cast away
On the side table
Seems to be
Chasing her
All the way
Her beau
Still deep
In sleep
Snoring “Satisfied!”
So was she
Was she?
“If he can do it,
Why can’t I?
Those vows
Of ‘Remaining together
Till we die’
Completely forgotten
All of them
The same- these men”
Despite her entreaties
There was no stop
To his
Extra marital affair
Her lover
Now up,
Reclining, smiles
“You were fabulous
In bed”, he winks
She’s all confused
Cannot clearly think
Quickly gathers
Her clothes
Heads for
The washroom
Her hand
On the door
Turns around
Another look
At the ring
"What I did
It was
The right thing
Why remain
Imprisoned in a cage?
Better to move on
I've eventually
Turned the page"

Drumbeat

DRUMBEAT

The early morning silence,
Pierced by the melody of the birds,
And coarse craw of the cock,
The bleating of the goats and sheep for fresh fodders,
Squirrels hopping to and fro,
Devouring the ripe palm nuts atop the palm trees,
Leaves glittering from the morning dews,
And the caterpillar found its abode slippery.

The grey hair that breaks the kolanut,
The hot drink that follows to waken the body as grey hairs would say,
The entreaties made to the "Chi",
Local brooms held by the kids greets the brownish sand,
Morning ash cartered away from the fire place,
The palm wine tapper sets out for the day,
Many a thing happened swiftly,
And morning was gone .

The loud sound of the ikoro,
Echoing in all corners of the village,
Beckoning on valours to array themselves,
I jolted out out of my hut,
In my redcap and my flute at hand,
With my flute played appraisal notes,
To announce my arrival to my hero.

Behold the hero,
The lion that kills the tiger,
"Odumnaegbuagu"
The glory of his people,
How strong art thou oh man of valour,
Lets appear in the battlefield ,
For the day is of victory,
Oh! My hero.
