The song of Phoenix Selective poems of Shamsur Rahman

I was lying there pool of ashes, amidst ruins a faded glory
In the dark, outside the hustle and bustle , in seclusion
many many years.

Many storms did pass through testing me in the elapsing summer time

The wind chill , shivering cold a strong grip, haunted me days and nights
Yet again, a deadly lonesome , alone with the mundane, alone with gone days
An ashes of burned violin , left alone into an utter silence
I was undone, untreated, left alone with the progressing day
amidst an outcry, yet an indifference lingered on.

In the audacity of the unruly, no one was a reverie
out from nowhere, the awakened eve arose a croon
a weaving mesh of the cosmic creation. Even though I had the shade of the lamenting
A farewell with the tragedy of the departing of nothingness, no one.

Miles to go for a voyage, the trumpet enclosing toward an end
A sunrise, why the embellishing epiphany whence promising for the darkest night?

Borrowed Words from Mary Shelley

Behold, the once pristine shell now shattered into dust
The crushing chains once binding; lay still and turn to rust
Time elapsing slowly will dissipate the bruise
But scars retain a knowledge there's nothing left to lose

Broken words and broken hearted; emptiness so whole
Igniting angers' fiery fingers deep within my soul
Abandonment of conscience as sanity deserts
No longer being hostage in a place that only hurts

"Beware; for I am fearless, and therefore powerful”
Icy shards of bitterness; feelings allowable
I have the strength to move on, to live another day
Peace of mind and character; so no I will not stay

Serenity awaits me, a peaceful state of mind
Filling life with laughter, joy; for which it was designed
I move from darkened shadows, searching for the light
Regaining independence to make my life feel right

Premium Member Fascination

A luminescent shimmer of stars,
bright as they were dancing
all aligned in perfect formation
With whispers in the air, romancing.

I thought I caught the subtle shift,
Time elapsing into space
As the moonlight drew its radiance
It was a delectable little taste.

How could I ever dare to dream,
When the universe is vast and unknown
I drown in anticipation
on what we can never own.

I possess a sense of fascination,
like a child struck with awe
To confiscate a moment of clarity
so natural and raw.

North and South down

A fiery crash upon the screen
Scenes of disarray
The confusion of the shocking sight
And faces of dismay

All around the world stood still
And slowly held its breath
Praying for the rescue mission
To minimise the death

The black cloud appeared silently
Consuming all the sky
And filled the hearts and minds of those
Reverberating nearby

The horror and the desperation
For those waiting to descend
The time elapsing swiftly
Towards the bitter end

The tragic sight of North implode
A fate so unexpected
The desolation felt by all
When South disconnected

Cries of disbelief ring out
The screams can only drown
As the damning news reports
North and South are down

The Middle Way

The road not ending is growing wider.
Spreading all the way down and up again.
Hot shovel digging and soaring lighter.
Walking the straight line beginning amend.
Each moment new and keep myself steady.
No time elapsing and hold my heart true.
The light not too bright; dark never ready.
Nor to warm or too cold; middle ensues.
Not craving the escape of elixirs,
or overindulge a ravenous girth,
nor snatch symbols of sensual fixers.
This road traveling is all that is worth.
No hunting the material abound.
Hands touching the sky, toes grasping the ground.

Churned Out of Chaste

Tasked to continue smooth function of cult compound
Sixteen svelte helpers of mindless vibrant physiche
Hurl their determination found in daily frequency
Milking cows, picking fruit, darning gowns

Draped swathes of cotton smother love worthy curves
Bunches clutched in fervent fists denote proactive
Chores suppress boredom, hours fast elapsing
Hushed among bustle, humbly built church

Rhythmic teat pinching hands press in prayer's commit
Wrists sturdy obedient, cream transform churning
Hundred shelled peas, obligated with urgency
Bound by scripture, called upon to submit

Duty is God's Will, blessed purpose supports hordes
Beauty unrecognised hair spun buns traditional
Released flaxen waterfall for richeous ritual
Sacramental fodder, holiest of whores

Chosen childless worship circle of dedicated wombs
Esteem rodeo results in offspring from Minister
Fallen garland bruised petalled begins her
Observance unto sermons emtombed

             31st December
            Cursed Yearning

My Birthday Presents

Time is elapsing fleeing my thinking
Each thought becoming a mystery
Age has now overtaken my history
Light’s are dimming with blurring vision
Sounds are silently disappearing
Life has spun by as a tornado twisting
Confusing how birth causes death
Each moment of life has disappeared
My Birthday presents now taken away

Driving Through Mindscapes

The fields, barns, and farms,
the dirt roads that seem to go nowhere,
all these are familiar.
The map of this part of Ohio
is engraved like blood vessels
crisscrossing his brain.

He’s an interloper, but all the same
knows these roads and has no need
to find one way or another.
All this journeys details
fit like jigsaw fragments
into a subliminal atlas.

He drives a mindscape,
one copied from a known reality,
hands and eyes free
to keep him from the unexpected,
but there will be no unexpected.

This is a world without
traffic or people to move it along.
The grazing cows and horses
may be at the far end of their fields
or near the road fence, but
the mind accommodates
these minor moving chess pieces.

A pebbled parking lot,
a Farmers Market.
He has a magical shopping list
that has written itself
as the tires turned the miles over.
Now he crosses between
one elapsing mindscape to another,
a place where he must linger
as a stranger once more.

Premium Member His Dynasty Is Collapsing

Trump's dynasty is surely collapsing
His Atlanta hotel is almost vacant and crumbling
Pieces of concrete
Are falling to the street
Guess the date on his unpaid bills is elapsing

Free Verse Fever

the arc of this air rising like smoke
amidst the nival flora of hills
trails against gun-powder skies
with barrels drawn my mind pivots
in the anguish of yesteryear's pain

i cower like this sun beneath clouds
unwilling to lift the veil of eyes
and see the crimson splatter awaken
in the momentary flashes elapsing
through triggered little thoughts
that hold you in the corners of my mind
somewhat confined by my pacific soul
but still able to break free of these chains

sometimes i see you there
pointing more than fingers
and i choke on the weight of hands
pressing against my throat
as i try to swallow down these tears

sometimes i hear your uttered rage
in the shots of darkness that echo
along the halls of lonely walls
where bullets once shattered my heart

i still see the fear in my eyes as reflections stare back
in momentary lapses of this wretched love
that left me live yet die in its hands

Procrastination

Dark clouds looming,
Thunder booming,
in the distance,
Why did I do this?

Time elapsing,
Mountains collapsing,
Near but far,
I wonder where we are?

Could have been done,
Frequently sung,
A dumb thing again,
When will it end?

Getting better,
And getting worse,
Rainy is the weather,
I'll soon need a hearse.

Premium Member The Outsider

Everything seems
So strange to me
This isn’t where I belong

I’m a stranger
On borrowed land
An outsider

In a silence that’s awkward
Heavy and bizarre
Unholy and surreal

An outcast
With empty birdfeeders
Swaying in the breeze
And flies circling
As if upon a cadaver

Time warped elapsing
In an ungodly fashion
I’m a foreigner

Unable to get away
Hardly far enough
My head swirling
From the stagnant air
I dream of closing my eyes
Letting images jumble my thoughts

Just as come over me
A medley of bloom perfumes
And a hummingbird fluttering
The size of a butterfly

Just a Light Crossover

The elapsing of the year gets almost everyone busy,
listing things to do and not to;
What to leave out or cross over with
Recreating the disfigured concepts of one's entity,
Refilling the unfilled rows and columns of a mystery,

It is like a bridge paradoxically unseen in the natural,
A bridge which, others cross over unconsciously, Like people in the North Sentinel Island, the Pintupi Aboriginals;
They're undisturbed with technical, social or economical changes.

The beginning of a year, is like taking a long-light trip
through a hall with appeasing leeways
Getting lost and refound in the process
Through this travel each one has precepts to follow
The exit way is either an achievement or a lesson

Each day is a cross over,
Each night is a ride which takes everyone to past,
 present or future events
Each morning is a recreation
To reconstruct the fragmentary initiative.

A happy and reproductive 2018 to the poetry members.

At Times

At times I tell the most in mind
Thoughts escaping elapsing day to night
At times I close my eyes as blind
Absorbing sound vibrations passing by passing by

At times I spend inflicted intelligently gifted
Whirlwind words spin consciousness lifted collapse
At times I begin minds mend acknowledging indifference
Earthquake emotions humbly end recovered past

Left hearted half
Mind whole
Controller Spirit
Not my own

Life at times for me may be may be
Normal in a small scaled town world scheme
Life at times may be one day
Be a life worth leaving to travel far far away

Hauntings

All the neon lights at sight
Wont fill the void in your bed
Im the void
All your marxisms stand corrected
The anarchists rejected
Will your sullen doctrines console you at nignt?
Weather the storms , joan
Cannot withstand solitude?
But The buendías can
Recall your faze , your pop culture phase
Modern artists , french new wave
Our youth was a maze
Albeit as not as bleak as our present
The Scandinavian weathercasts that daily swallow us
You were never a Hamlet , Orpheus
I was never an Eurydice ,
but rather an Ophelia
Hey nonny , nonny
I spread the flowers on my grave
They way i always did since birth
The sun also rises but im eclipsing
Elapsing
Collapsing
Help me ,Hemingway
Where do our saviors vanish
When we dont ask to be left be ?
