Admittedly, I am a big klutz;
tripping and falling, it drives me nuts.
With my "two left feet",
I am no athlete,
but I'm willing to dance - it takes guts!
I'm writing this long letter
to a mysterious stranger,
I'm staring at her beautiful picture
with some tingling sense of rapture!
Patty lives in Bloomington, Indiana;
it's such a lovely town, not like Elmira
where homeless people roam and sleep
on sidewalks and apartments are cheap!
We've never met and exchanged glances,
I can imagine when that actually happens;
our warm hands won't keep from touching,
our joy can surely be expressed in feeling!
Patty lives in Bloomington, Indiana
it's hundreds of miles away and Diana
can't wait to move there with Danny,
they both adore their new-born baby!
I'm a city rambler and I'm used to people's jeers,
and moving fast I tread on the wide city streets;
silence drives me nuts, noises is what I crave:
it's good for the solitary guy hiding in the cave!
Patty lives in Bloominghton, Indiana;
all I have is this photo and a single wish
that she might write back and not swish
this silly dream whenever I lie to Sara!
I’m not much of an ogre he thought
As a chipmunk nibbled his twisted toe nail.
Nope, I like my fur fluffed and clean
And my nails…well, not painted
But neatly buffed and filed.
Damn! I hate meat. It like
Forever sticks in my teeth.
I think I’m a reincarnated vegan.
Toughen up kid!!
Grab that ogre vibe
Dinner will be anything
We can catch alive.
(worst hunting mantra ever)
An old owl shook its head
Asked its forever question:
”Who?.. are you?”
He drives me nuts
Every day
Same old question. Until…
That one day he said
“Who do you want to be?”
I confusedly answered:
“I am not sure.”
“Then go and find out”
He hooted
As silent wings
Took flight.

They say I am crazy
They claim I am demented
They call me names
And swear vehemently that I have lost it all
I look at them and shake my head in disbelief
How can I convince them
That I am not what they think I am?
How can I make them understand
That I am not insane?
Could they ever believe
That true love intoxicates?
How could they believe
That your love drives me nuts?
More than alcohol could ever do?
A day will come they will understand
That true love is alcoholic!
She lit up the guest house one December
I saw that signature smile, vivacity at 40
I returned a few months later; I remember
She brought some dessert, I didn't deserve
Almost in weeks, we both lost our reserve
Three years on, she & I have Jesus as Partner
II
If she's at work, I need to hear her voice
Often, so much to do, and no easy choice
No-quitting spirit, is her gift, thank God
Endurance is her middle name, a kind word
For the needy ones almost anywhere
That drives me nuts, rebuke fear, LORD
The old adage “variety is the spice of life” is quite profound!
William Cowper was the author and didn’t need to utter a sound
The words are perfect for creative souls
For mixing things up helps to achieve your goals
After almost 300 years his message still works
And intuitively I’ve long had that quirk
Now more than ever I’m mixing it up
I move around to different places to “fill my cup”
Sitting still for very long drives me nuts!
All I need to do is avoid being a “klutz”!
I spend a lot of time to write
A syllabus for class:
These are the rules, the dates of tests,
The points you need to pass.
I even make a video
Where I sit and explain
What’s written in the syllabus
So that they can’t complain.
I make a lovely website, too,
With all the files. They can
Find schedules, homework, old exams,
Who teaches where and when.
Yet nonetheless, the emails come.
“When is the homework due?”
“I heard there are no labs this week.
Say, is this really true?”
“I did not know there was a quiz.
Please, can I take it late?”
“When is my lab?” “We have a test?
I cannot make the date!”
It drives me nuts. They did not read.
I feel the urge to yell –
Of course, that’s unprofessional,
And so I simply tell
The student: “In the syllabus
It states, right on page two …”
And quote the lines – because, what else
Am I supposed to do?

There are a lot of people like me
neither rich nor poor, idling
in the middle who have never wanted
for anything in our lives.
We were reared by parents
who fed us and sent us to school.
We graduated and found jobs
and then moved on to better ones.
We raised families of our own.
We have pensions now
and can pay our bills.
We can buy a new recliner
when the old one breaks.
Which is why I hate to stop
for coffee at Pete’s Diner
and find Mr. Conscience there
sipping his and waiting to ask me
what I’ve done for the poor lately.
He’s an old caseworker who
worked in the projects until retirement.
He volunteers now with a group that
caulks the gaps public grants don't cover.
He never gives me a moment’s peace,
always after me to help a needy person.
He’ll take cash or a check, isn't fussy.
He’s Mr. Conscience and he drives me nuts.
But I wouldn't have coffee with anyone else
after watching the inauguration.

I love you, but...
I love u but there shouldnt be any BUTS
I love u but, its this lost dignity to love that drives me NUTS
I love you but, there should be no DOUBTS
For love know no bounderies, should be dancing like friday NIGHTS
I love you but
Love alone is not efficient there'll always be misunderstanding and FIGHTS
I love you but, complete and leave no space for DOUBTS
Erase and limit all chances for those BUTS :)
And i will love you still, but this time differently
Come, lets play in the rain, dirty dancing
the way you move drives me nuts, Insane!
Expensive purse, leather coat soaked
in the conditions. I dip you, we hydroplane
I feel like I am in heaven,
found a purpose.
I digress!!
Once an obsession,
A friendship at a cross road
love the complication,
Timing was not right.
Stars had not aligned,
chose friendship,
no fight!
Years pass, the occasional brunch
A matinee, oh and that luncheon
at a downtown cafe'.
Strolled the streets
downtown Salt Lake City,
Olympics!
Drunk, acting crazy
Two arrogant young adults
falling in love!
Stars had not aligned
timing was not right
I chose friendship
no fight!
Years pass and we email
talk on the phone.
Relationships fail
now we are both grown
I regress!
It feels like a dream,
drug induced,
on cocaine.
I smell through the rain
that sweet lavender lotion!
I caress, we dance
in slow motion.
The stars may have aligned
timing could be right!
Once started out a friendship
blossomed into kinship!
Now I fight!!

Walk out to get the mail
I get a letter from W. Fargo
They want to put my house in jail
My job doesn't give me much dough
Get up to an alarm
Go to a micromanaged job
Doing three positions at once
All those seconds to hours become a fog
I think of all the CEO's that brought this on
I'm not the only one
Millions know where this comes from
Money, money, money
Guess it's too late, it's done
Really wish that a few decades ago
When outsourcing and efficiency experts dropped in
That the generation would have had the guts
To value family over property
The fact they didn't drives me nuts
It's brought us to a depressing poverty
Dead presidents on paper are pointless
Big business should come with an ointment
I realized a while back
There's nothing more scary
Than someone with nothing to attack
So when everyone only has their families
They'll realize the greed is a ****ery
They can take my house
They can take my car
My dream was never to die with these
My loved ones,
They're what will make my heart go far
I
would like
to stay here
and comment more,
but that blinking-eye Cupid drives me nuts!
Up or down
No one knows for sure
A battle of wills so to speak
That everyone must endure
"Always put it up", they say
Then, "You forgot to put it down"
I have to admit it drives me nuts
As my head spins round and round
I really don't know the answer
It's drove us mad for years
It's even made some grown men pout
And drove other men to tears
Why can't they put it up or down?
Why does it have to be us?
Cause everytime we do it wrong
We have to hear them fuss
For me there was only one answer
Let me tell you what I did
The last time that my wife complained
I removed that toliet lid
I have a passion, a passion to write.
Sometimes it’s hard and turns into fights.
With everything starving for my precious time,
Sitting down is hard, let alone a rhyme.
But the poetry inside rears its evil head,
It feels ignored, especially when I’m in bed.
While on the job my mind begins to race,
Tumbling through rhymes, staring me in the face.
There’s nothing I can do while on the clock,
Maybe sneak a few lines and not get caught.
My job has been very demanding,
With poetry not understanding.
Now that I’ve started I just can’t stop,
Fifty poems down and starting to rock.
My mind fills prisoned by this unnatural beast,
When will the rhymes of mine begin to cease.
For every thought that runs through my head,
Begins and ends with a rhyme instead.
Sometimes it’s crazy and drives me nuts,
The words speak truth and hits home in the gut.
This is my gift or maybe my curse,
Is my glass half full or empty at worst?

Why don't I have the guts,
To just call you when I want to.
This whole thing drives me nuts,
Becase I want so badly to be with you.
I wanna be with you so bad,
That I can't stand the pain.
It's all driving me mad,
It's making me insane.
I mean your number's right there,
It's setting right in front of me.
But if I call you it won't be fair,
Because I know it's not meant to be.
