I used to love to pick my nose.
After 3,
Better than playing with my toes.
With a nose you see,
Each little crevasse has a surprise for me!
A goober,
A booger.
Nothing I would find amiss.
Cleanest nose in town,
Until Momma was around.
Momma said, "Don't pick your nose,
You might get it on my hose!
There are not gold doubloons in there,
Just goobers and boogers.
Perhaps a bit of hair."
But that's the whole point!
My boogers and goobers,
Are my snacks at night!
Mommas in bed.
It's dark,
No one will see.
Just me and my nose,
Boogers and goobers are free!

I am …
a withered leaf -
the breath of your indifference,
tossing - like every other …
we sit on sand
shoulders pressed like sinners
yet from the chill,
not familiarity …
this place, once solemn -
once our vessel
has long since betrayed us
its moon,
beams no magic
the breaks, sing not
tarnished doubloons rust the
wave tops
and the tree of love I have
wilted from,
aches in vain to see you
look at me
the way you gaze …
upon the sea.

I went to get a bit more done;
Did not intend to stay,
But once begun, turned to such fun,
I could not tear away.
Though some might fret at lots of sweat,
I find that I’m inure,
And though it flows whene’r I row,
I’m drawn to its allure.
When ev’ry inch is nearly drenched,
And there’s not far to go,
I’ll trade doubloons for macaroons
And bask in their sweet glow.

When the sun above is shining
On the sea, so bright and briney
And each day is a beach day
Where you’re nestled in the dunes
It’s June
When the sun above is blazing
On the beach on which you’re lazing
Seashells are all free shells
And sand dollars are doubloons
It’s June
When the sun above is gleaming
And you find yourself daydreaming
Concrete and chrome turn into seafoam
And your front lawn’s a lagoon
It’s June.

Gather the crew and drain the lagoon
There's a treasure at the bottom
Gold, silver, pirate doubloons
Ere nightfall we got em'
Post light it's a curse
Low on time here
Be there first
One mere
Hour
Glass
Broken
Was that all?
Fragile treasure
Chest of shards and sand
This myth can’t be measured
Not riches or diamonds grand
Instead there was the gift of time
Metaphors and empty hands remain

imagine
what fantastical wonders
besides the fish
swim in realms of oceans deep
with fantails that swish
when the full moon is glowing
like a treasure chest of shiny gold doubloons
and starlight brightens the sea
mermaids will be found
smiling as they dance in rhythmic reverie
their giggles create bubbles
in pearlescent hues
while the scalloped scales
on their tails
gleam in shades of greens and blues
aquatic maidens
Poseidon's lovely daughters
twirl and pirouette
beneath crystal clear waters
their haven
lies near a tropical shore
may they reign
there forever more

We wend through life with hopes of one true love,
Quite rare, such fits, that match you like a glove ...
A blend of souls ... divine inspiration.
Once heaven found you naught but in my dreams,
Yet now you're real, sweet angel, though it seems ...
This sacred gift ... divine inspiration.
Smooth tresses, golden silk, frame eyes of brown,
Those swirling depths where I would gladly drown ...
To love's abyss ... divine inspiration.
Oh moonbeams dance your dermis like doubloons,
The sweet price paid your form, as passion swoons ...
The carnal cost ... divine inspiration.
Each moment that I spend wrapped in your wings,
Means one less wasted 'midst those lesser things ...
A realm of you ... divine inspiration.
How long I've sought the truth of heaven's light,
Thus, now through you, dear angel, life is bright ...
One in our love ... divine inspiration.

Ah, sweet slumber of nip-laden dreams;
the milk of mother moon bestowed,
a blessed drink and lactose-free
to this mine humble, feline throat.
Running freely through outer space,
I touch upon thy blessed universe.
My home of emerald and lapis lace,
is where in I lay in furred repose.
Chasing neon rainbows in nebulae bright,
my dreams are filled with gold doubloons.
I’ll spend them on treats and nip-delight,
and chase away any greedy tycoons.
A feline black as obsidian night,
in a home filled with human love;
among the faeries and tree sprites,
mind flies just like the doves.

EYELIDS WEAR THE COLD
Eyelids wear the cold
shivering in the dark
neither dull nor bold
doubloons lost their spark
Shivering in the dark
weeping manic tears
doubloons lost their spark
fruition of her fears
Weeping manic tears
mascara runs on lashes
fruition of her fears
as his short life crashes
mascara runs on lashes
neither dull nor bold
as his short life crashes
eyelids wear the cold

Oh, what an easy thought to find,
The countless things I'm thankful for,
Soft-spilling, joyous, as they pour
From each deep recess of my mind ...
Like gold doubloons, they shine and spin,
Each one a cherished treasure, fine,
Such wealth, have I, that's wholly mine,
Locked safe forever, deep within ...
Fast, they pass thru lifetime's sieve,
Our loves and graces, big and small,
And moments, rare, but most of all ...
The grandest gift, to simply ... LIVE.

Rancho San Luis Ore encompassed plain
of Laurius between the mountains nigh.
"Vicioso", ferocious grizzly, bane
to Miquel's peace of mind, lived close near by.
Don Miquel's spirit made him need to try
to capture honey loving beast for sport.
This ursine'll be soon tied where hives do lie,
for vaqueros love most that play of sort.
The Laurius grass plain was valley wide,
reward to Jose, Miquel's pater old.
For service great to Spanish monarch's pride
against French reign, for being captain bold.
The plain's worth many fine doubloons of gold,
an everlasting feed for cattle need.
But other eyes do covet Miquel's hold,
and claim that plain's held by outdated deed.

Chronicler of History
History goes back as you might guess
Through vast tracks of time out there to be cataloged and measured
And a couple minutes more, before the universe was born
It discovered Hobo Jack at home within one millisecond
Put him to work to make a list of dark matter, plants and planets
(Planets are the smaller ones)
And all solid things that mattered and had form
Hobo Jack was given birth and raised on Earth
His first love was lamps and gold
Accounting became a knack in natural fashion
With a history of his own
And as a matter of fact he was good at keeping books
Lists of animals he encountered were quickly jotted down
From dinosaurs to platypus
Geiger counters became a fad
So ancient coins, doubloons
Spanish treasures made his day
Hobo Jack and his long white beard
Led their way through history
Among archival masters Jack was the best
He chronicled everything in life then passed away
