Not Anne but Gabrielle

Not Anne, But Gabrielle
by Gabrielle Munslow

If you want me to take you to another time,
take my hand.
Don’t furrow your brow.

Slick with storylines,
my tongue twists
like an adder.

Poetry spills—
some good, some bad,
but always real.

I write of suffering.
I write of death.
I write of want.

No pretty, prophetic prose.
But I can still
slip a ditty off my toes.

I am Anne with an E.
No bird.
No net ensnares me.

Still, I rest,
and language thrills my bones.

Time stills—
or quickens.
Language isn’t luxury;
it’s necessity.

Down rabbit holes I go,
deep and twisted.
I braid my breath into roots.
I speak to the dirt,
and it answers.

Once a girl.
Now a woman,
retelling her youth.

I
am not Anne with an E.
I am Gabrielle—
with poems for sale.

My mother got mad
Why am I saying God all the time
Didn’t know I’m saying God all the time
Asked God what do You want to be called

Please give me a name either before or after God
To my surprised, He answered
ETERNAL
Whoa I was shocked

I would call You Eternal God
WANT THE WORLD TO CALL ME ETERNAL
 WANT EVERYBODY NOT JUST YOU
You want the world to call You Eternal

Eternal God how do You want me to tell the world
I am nobody
Did not finish school not to have profession
Thought to write books to be distributed Globally

Poetrysoup you’re my other hope
To tell the world that God wants to be called Eternal
To be featured in Poetrysoup Homepage
Please help me

GOD WANTS TO BE CALLED ETERNAL NOT JUST ME

Premium Member Judges Have Been Selected

Hello, my most esteemed poets,

I am trying an experiment that I believe has not been done here on the PS site. I have posted a new poetry contest called "The Prismatic Self: A Gauntlet of Mirrors within the Arena.".

The JUDGES have now been selected:

1. Lin Lane
2. Ink Empress
3. Duke Beaufort
4. Vanya Evangeline

Thank you for your time and patience

Blessings,

Delusional confusion with a side of freedom

Settling into a meadow brought about mellow flows of green and yellow assembled by memories they float freely on the breeze glimmering clearly off the trees lay reflections of memories like frailed Braille burnt on my mind my life looks back ancestral eyes look down on me through me and within me the realization of life before here and after here becomes crystal clear the land changes without fear the veil that once covered my eyes filling my life with lies has been removed so I set forth on this new land no longer tasseled by the lies distributed by media's eyes I am free to be

a small bank

A small bank

When I visit my bank, which is a small rural one
the bank lady who warns me not to overspend
and my wife meets I go for a coffee across
the road, they are both from Congo and have
 a lot to talk about
The business in the bank is done, forenoon
the prize of pig feed and grain harvest, and so on
When I am alone, I like to come early
and enjoy the concerned people with no dramatic political
meaning other than survival
the real people's experience  that contextualized
not democratic  that those who invest in
the future, should it arrive, be the beneficiary
that income should be distributed according to
input, it is not about equity
At the same time, my fellow investors do send
money to help Gaza because they read
the local  newspaper that is biased toward Israel
My mother thought a Jew was someone in a fur hat
 selling stuff from his cart.

Premium Member 40000 cartloads of horse manure

i printed off
all of my poems

i distributed them
at the traffic lights

no one opened their car windows
except one poem i stuffed in a dog's face

a child laughed at me from his back seat
i laughed back

i stuffed the poems in drains
in supermarket trollies

i donated them at the
charity shop

i hammered this poem
into a lamppost

it blew away into the ether
i went home to pass a kidney stone

all the eggs in this box are double yoked
signifying nothing

To Will or not to Will

My bones are creaking and my bed is squeaking
Im one short of eighty nine
Bosom friends come gather around me
Lets crack some jokes and drink some wine
Long lost relatives are looking me up
Their eye on my wealth, damn they really suck
I spend my days thinking what must I do
I want to leave it to someone who is true
There is a beggar on my street who wishes me well
I think I could leave him some and make him swell
Or the garbage man who comes knocking at my door
Cleans my porch and the verandah floor
Missionaries of charity, that’s where I will put some
For the cause of orphaned kids, lost and lonesome
Or to the church which I often visited
Where I’ve left my prayers and alms distributed
But to that crafty old woman who walked out on me
I will leave my rusty ring on the tombstone in the cemetery

Sericulus Ardens

"The flaming bowerbird (Sericulus ardens) is one of the most brilliantly colored bowerbirds. The male is a medium-sized bird, up to 25 cm long, with flame orange and golden yellow plumage, elongated neck plumes and a black tail with a yellow tip. He builds an "avenue-type" arbor with two side walls made of sticks. The female is an olive-brown bird with yellow or gold around the stomach.

The flame bowerbird is distributed and endemic to the rain forests of New Guinea . The male flame bird also has a courtship display along with its arbor, twisting its tails and wings to the side and then rapidly bobbing its head.
The flame bowerbird is rated as Least Concern on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species."

68 years ago, I was onboard the world's oldest tank ship
wooden decks and looking like a sailing ship more than
a tanker in the Black Sea on the way to Odesa.
The sea had ice flakes, fishing vessels got stuck, and a Russian
minesweeper was on its way to help it was painted dark
blue and red; the sky was slightly overcast.
What I remember best was the silence, no TV. no noise
from constant communication in the cold air, above all
no mobile phones had yet to intrude.
Now, ships loaded with grain follow a mine-free lane
on the way to the Dardanelles for inspection by men
in uniform before heading for Africa.
Not destined for the famished population, not yet
the grain is stored in gigantic silos by trying governments
distributed by them at an inflated price, the poor
cannot afford the starvation continues unabated.
We have been here before, in the winter of 1949, people
froze to death when fishing and fell like nine pins when
spring came; few families had any furniture left.
68 years ago, I recall the unmoving stillness, now
there is a cacophony of angry voices protesting against
the burden they are asked to carry for our leaders.

Underprivileged

Uunacceptable amounts of diethylene glycol and ethylene glycol are contaminants. The substances are toxic, and their effects"can include abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhoea, inability to pass urine, headache, altered mental state and acute kidney injury which may lead to death. The WHO said that India's Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation indicated that the manufacturer may have only supplied the contaminated medications to The Gambia But the WHO said that"global exposure"was possible as the"manufacturer may have used the same contaminated material in other products and distributed them locally or exported" them..

Poetrix

Poetrix without metric
but with poetic inclination
synthetic elaboration

PS POETRIX Contemporary poem created by Bahian poet Goulart Gomes, at the end of the 90's. It consists of a maximum of 30 (thirty) metric syllables distributed in 03 (three) verses (tercet); dissident of the haikai, of Japanese origin. But unlike haikai, the title of the poetrix is required, which does not enter into the syllabic count and can complement the text. "The poetrix is the Brazilian way of composing triplets".

Premium Member Speech

Speech

Free speech,
is the power of one person,
to say, anything they like,
to have an opinion,
and to have it heard,
even if it is bad,
even if it is good,
it is the same.

Every person has a voice,
some speak to much,
some can not speak at all.
The difference,
the price of freedom...
fairly distributed among
the rich, the weak,
the poor,
the downtrodden.

The censored media,
cropping off the parts...
they do not care to address,
in favor of the ploys
they created
to make us believe,
what is not real
anywhere.

Critical thinking...
has been leashed,
and tied to a fire hydrant
in the public square.
He, or it...
is beaten daily,
to make sure
there is no life left
at all,
to fight.

Believe,
be still,
be silent...
Do as you are told.
You will not grow old,
as there are too many
of you.
There is not enough room for us,
those that know where the
food is kept,
underground in caves,
in the north,
in the south,
in the east,
and in the west.

Go hungry,
and starve.
It does not matter,
who...
you
are.
