The children came late, at the end
among the bodies, naked, stripped
the corpses starting to distend
with gaping wounds where swords had ripped
and hacked to recognitions fall.
Their foes had taken life and gold;
the wives to stricken poor to pall
these men whose lives were dearly sold.
The children came, as did the rats,
the cawing crows, the hungry dogs,
the ever-present feral cats,
and fat pink grunting, rutting hogs.
They came to scavenge what was left
upon this greenfield butcher's block
and what they took was not the theft
it is those who lead should be in dock.

Trapped in between the lyric
and music
Wandering in a rhythm
of lost expectation
Blaming each note still unplayed
and unwritten
The echoes distend
in a moment’s undoing
Hearing a chorus
when no choir is present
Voices imagined
to sing my sequester
Wandering aimless
through scores of abandon
Harmony denied me
—nightmarish and deafening

I am immersed into your darkness
As I wait for your return
Holding on to Amber claimless
If I let loose you'll feel the burn
You lit a torch into my vein
Did you kindle it with care
As the empty sky desists its reign
Will it distend my hungry stare

Flakes as silent satin
Sail down salubriously
Dissipating into stupefaction
Hitherto ramming clay
They were the forlorn harbingers
Before a cataclysm of sposh
Burst through the firmament
Like a derailed locomotive
Besmirching any implement in ambit
The innocuous sniff of sposh
Vilifying my cranium
As with a burst of gore
Revivifying to the hub
After an interlude of rhythmic diminution and distend
A rapturous ardor of splendor
Garnering me into a frosty sphere
Of flakes and satin
Methinks it snows.

Obstinate eyes, worn I, dart shadows wished pretend,
Spun ‘round by carousel, too quick for lines to bend,
See only empty space no shackled dare transcend,
Beneath dishonest moon, short innocence to lend;
Well mannered hope once held from schools raw fish attend
Has turned against me now, caused youthful dreams distend;
And though none hear my cries, enlightened thoughts suspend
Then clamor angrily, “Pure lies, this sinner’s penned!”;
Rebuttals cower, lest again their words offend
Long worshiped Deity, who claimed I do impend
Her right to happiness; begged justice apprehend
Love’s punished prisoner, whose hell shall never end.

You sleep ashore with longing eyes wide,
Consciously still to swell with the tide.
Late night before the endless, black sea,
I found you wavering there for me.
But lost you against the sky above,
And woke up mournfully in love.
Sunrise I found you in the garden, streaming,
With flowers in your hair, sprawled out and beaming.
You were warm like skin in summer rain;
We kicked across the fields you reign.
You seized my hand; my head still spins,
My love, you teem to merely exist,
And conquer means to infinite ends.
I take you in like roots take up rain,
Like a needle pricks an untapped vein,
Like a candle strips a savage flame.
You are the absolute ecstasy for which I distend,
The sun to which I tirelessly bend.
And I lust so much it burns me up;
When you see that dreams are not enough,
In a garden alluring, obscure, and lush—
The forbidden will awaken upon our touch.

Nightmare, Translation of Paul Verlaine’s Cauchemar
(Translation of Paul Verlaine’s quintilla : « Cauchemar ». As usual, I have tried to stick to the original’s stanzaic format and rhyme scheme. T. Wignesan)
In my unfurling dream I saw it happen
- The way the hurricane lashes the strand –
A two-edged sword whirling in one hand
An hourglass in the other
This knight rider
Come coursing through Germany
Down through towns and the open country
And from the river up mountain free,
And from forests to valley lone
This stallion
Ebony black and red as flame
Sans bridle, nor bit, nor rein.
Ne’er a hup ! nor crop, constrain
In the midst of deafening railing
Unfailing ! Unfailing !
Long plume adorning a huge felt hat
Kept in shade his eye which up it lit
And then it dimmed. Such as in the mist
Explodes and dies this blue flash clear
The weapon fire
As when the white-tailed eagle’s wing
As might by a sudden storm sting
The air streaked with snowing,
His fur coat out-raised distend
Beat back the wind,
And disclosed with an air : glory be
A torso sombre and of ivory,
While in the black night free
Through strident neighing : dazzling beneath
Thirty-two teeth.

I thought my life was staring to
be good
Well why do I feel so sad
Am I Distend to be unhappy all
my life
Have I been that bad
I didn't choose the things that
happened to me
I didn't choose to feel the
feelings I do
They just sit there anticipating
and waiting to make a move
I have no control when they
will strike
I wish I was born with no
feelings at all
The thoughts eat away , bit by
bit
I actually then start to fill sick
life is hard to deal with without
these crazy thoughts
So when they erupt , it's like
one big crashing ball
Not knowing where to turn
What the next step will be
What road to travel down , or
what will become of me
In the end it will be the person
who holds me tight , that will
continually make my life alright

Jilting muse with availing inspiration did wend
Barren reservoir doth futility portend
A bristling quill with no well to descend
No gratuitous frills on vapid contours suspend
Seeking with brokered shill to amend
Imploring vagabond seeking itinerant dividend
Wading through flooded channels, silty grains to append
From literary vault embezzled title apprehend
In voluminous discourse a simple aphorism distend
In ancient annals a trite fable from corroded parchments
rend
From Medieval chronicles a homily with which to contend
Out of Victorian poet's graded folio a euphemism vend
From contemporary laureates' silken threads, new yarn
spin
distend- to stretch out, to inflate

. . . I did nothing just for you
the dexterity of the mean
is that I did more than you knew
or ever could have seen!
I didn't care for you
or miss you ~ now and then
I cried inside, so silently
so as to not offend!
I wasn't there just for you
the hours I could contend
that lasted year upon the year
with heartaches, still to mend!
I couldn't love you more
or want to be your friend,
or only nuture when I get
while giving, I distend!
Our time is runing low
togetherness not glean
but say our worth of friendship grows
with nothing in between!
. . . considerations flow
is beckoning ne'er again
but say hope's filling, row on row
is still resolves ascend!

When new memories surge as wild tides,
in this spot love always abides,
my gaze goes even further,
where falling stars shatter.
Any awful feeling that existed inside
shouldn't remain, but escape and glide
as lazy clouds do on a peaceful morning...
when the breeze disconcerts their drifting.
Deluded heart, you must divest yourself
of all illusions...only look forward and laugh;
those clouds will disperse towards evening or night...
don't allow pain to distend, dissuade your thought of fright.
Let your sadness dissolve in the rising, bubbling tides,
let your disquietude also vanish in them by dim sunrise,
be uplifted by prayer and reach the sublimest state,
why discourage yourself and allow despair to fulminate?
Sit on the warm sand, watch the gleaming sea being swelled
by a full, unfriendly moon...but soon there will be relief instead:
you will have no recollection of a sad past and as your ego will rise,
you will delight your spirit when new memories surge as wild tides.

With the advent of those with devious intent
To serve own greed, a heaven torn apart
A shift into darkness, perpetual, distend
A vendetta, to burn through generations, sparked
Once bound by the seal of love, of empathy
A Cultivation that boasted of intrinsic diversity
This brotherhood that cherished in peace and harmony
Now thirsts for blood, in the name of vanity
Induced upon us, an obstinate ferocity
A misbegotten hunger that fuels our rage
Bequeathed down ages, a curse upon humanity
Blinded of reason, unleashed carnage
We seek serenity in slaughter of our own
And devastate families to satiate our yearns
Our cause, to us, still remains unknown
Yet, the desire to kill, back home returns
Denial to this order is yet to be witnessed
Divided, we fall, do you not understand
The faith, the legacy, and the strength we harness
Whatever the odds, united, we stand
Shall I best through tides and deny the inclined
Or succumb to the norms of the wretched fraternity
To be a man of purpose, an enlightened mind
Or be a conscript of havoc, doomed for eternity

That timetable of rapt familiarity's discern
resolves transmitting rumors, my befriend
dysfunctions with misfitting, halting's bend
and circumvents a standstill, toward no end!
While opposite in furthering's belief
beginning's placate, anchoring's achieve
that dormancy becomes a truth's bereave ~
life's reconciling justice to perceive!
All told, involuntary atmospheric sieve
the matters decimating plannings blind

perniciously is focused to amend!
That timeless trust, no telltale virtues send

hurt's mortifying gospel's spoken trend
are turned to love, by hope's conspired extend!
