World Poetry Day

N. Hawthorne encouraged us to do anything, something, (heroic?) even though life brings huge discouragement: "Tell me not, in mournful numbers, that life is but an empty dream ..." PSALM OF LIFE

I had to pen something like poetry today
It's World Poetry day, they say (internet ads)
Yet today is over, on its way, where we "stay"*
In South Africa. No internet on other phone
By chance I tried this (MTN service), won
A reprieve, a respite, an extension to the day
A list of best poems: Poe's Raven, Sonnet 18
By the bard (Shall I compare thee to a summers day?)
Elizabeth Barrett Browning's love poem
And Nathaniel Hawthorne's PSALM OF LIFE
So my work - brief, bearing light - is done
And off I run ... In donker** Suid Africa again

* STAY has US connotations with cohabitation and vacation. In RSA, it is used for "live" (as in, Where do you live/stay now?")

** "Donker' is dark or darkness, in Afrikaans. I used it because of loadshedding: our notoriety for electricity cuts that has business & people in "revolt" here.

Say No To Cohabitation

Whether it is now some folks’ habit
Or a lifestyle to try a bit,
You should begin to inhibit
The thoughtless actions others exhibit...

For here in Ariel we actively prohibit
Lovers having to cohabit
And should be the last to simply sit
While lovers below the belt chastity hit
Making the still-not-profaned their teeth grit.

How Much Is Your Love

How much is your love?
Finance has a signature sign in any kinship
Monetary status together with relationship status is
-to love and to hold
-to value in debit
-to deposit till positive
credit is due, love is true

(These are the vows on the love voucher
A coup payment from cupid)

A security to the fund of life
But its revenue can come with expenses
As expectations exceeded expenditure
negative on the balance
This loan applies to marriage and cohabitation
how and who gets to account for what and when
is savings on the investment
Budget for your emotions

what or who to spend your feelings, as well as assets on
wants and needs are human condition in trade
fluctuating with the living standards

Regulate your mandate before going on to date
The paper note has devalued the love note
How much is your love?
Hope you have a better rate to ex-change

he dreamt of death sharks and apocalypse

Poseidon on edge of waters and hence

slept badly because of the fish and chips

exhausted he drowned without any sense

a jubilant sea horse married a prawn

Freud cheered the cohabitation in joy

while salty solution mixed with the spawn

directed and waved at subconscious ploy

kill your father and mount your own Mama

Oedipus knows best don’t waste repression

Sex is your friend so look out for drama

I offer my couch for a quick session

for in love and compassion lies no shame

to dolphins' applause together they came

Premium Member Cohabitating Wishes

A sustained mystery for more long-term resilient cohabitation
is how to exchange high tolerance for ambiguity,
with, and not for, active curiosity about ambidexterity,
vulnerable dipolarity both/anding transparent bipolarity,
merging win/lose stuckness
in our emerging collective illusion
of ego-identity's fundamental
sacred
monocultural autonomy

Autonomy of identity
as if both necessary and sufficient
before humane/divine multicultural interdependence
could grow more robustly possible,

Rather than this Other historical way around
healthy yinterdependent yindivid-yangation
prior to egalitarian sacred identity
actually co-passioning
healthy dualistic potentiality,

While still in EarthMother's
ego/ecofeminist sanctuary
of integrity,
secular/sacred co-passioning Womb.

A more sustained mystery of more long-term resilient cohabitation
is exchanging high tolerance for ambiguity,
with, and not for, active curiosity about co-acclimating
trans-regenerations of nurturing timelessness.

LoVe iS nOT hAvInG tO sAy YOu’Re sORrY?

love is a valentine
no it’s not
love is Cupid’s sting
oh no, not that
love is a bare chest and two feet
o brother…
love is cohabitation with another
not necessarily

love is wedding bells
really?
love is a battle
perhaps
love is walking on the same footpath
? for how long…
love is gray whiskers and tummy-handles
could be
love is seeing her smile in all the wrinkles
oh, how cute

love is looking back
at all that
love is looking ahead

love is romantic
sometimes
love is frantic
oh, yes
love is put to the test
and must
have a foundation
to last

arm in arm
love is…

Premium Member Endless Strife

The cohabitation of carnal and spiritual desires has brought Man to life

Thus surprised we should never be that can't end in our hearts the strife!

Carnal and spiritual desires are cohabited in Man for life's glory!*

* Note: Here I am not talking about Good and Evil but about carnal and spiritual desires. Spiritual desires are pure but carnal desires some may be
good i.e. food, drink, procreation and others if they surpass the golden mean, may become impure! Man needs both for to exist and for to have a good life!

Cogent Clues and Critical Cues

Fire in my belly
Confidence in my mind
I confront challenges that I tackle daily
In a determined and concerted onslaught to find

Solutions I appreciate
Among several alternatives I explore
To root out hypocrites who ingratiate
Themselves to exploit my generosity more

Than moderation permits
In civilized society
Where a sleight of hand meets
With disapproval where humility

Scores priceless points
When set against a background
Of complex cultures at joints
Where juxtapositions of modernity and tradition abound

In their understanding
Of cohabitation, reflection, reconciliation and restoration
To avoid garrulous grandstanding
In circumstances, settings and scenarios of remonstration and frustration

When a meeting of moderate minds
Accommodating dissenting views
Of credible kinds
Thrives to disseminate among stakeholders cogent cues and critical clues.

So many marriages now end in divorce
Innocent children are hurting of course
Gone are the happier days in their life
Now their parents aren’t husband and wife

One weekend a month the kids spend with their dad
Fighting between their parents often makes them so sad

There are now more couples who do not get wed
Happy to live together, so they stay single instead
Entering into cohabitation nowadays is widespread

Times are changing; commitment is a thing of the past
I see many love affairs; sadly I know they will not last
Many rush into relationships, why do they take it so fast
Easy to walk away when the rush of love has passed
‘Sanctity of marriage’, its meaning has been trashed

Buzz Off Words To a Spider

A silver spider spied a golden fly,
and to it most amorously did sigh:
"O most glorious of flies!
What fine wings you have, what eyes!
No earthly thing shows beauty more.
I shall weave in silver thread
a garb for you, a vestment fair,
that we be forever wed,
a common destiny to share.
I in you, and you in me,
O how happy we shall be.
You shall be my metaphor.
To you I'll pose reality."

"I'm sure what moves you is benign,"
the fly replied in dulcet tone.
"Yet I regretfully decline
your offer of a common home.
My gold is - like your silver - pure,
and may such purity endure,
for purity, if once alloyed,
as sure as fate must be destroyed.
To sun and moon it was decreed
not fusion but duality
should constitute reality.
Cohabitation I debar!
I shall admire you - from afar!"

The Parting Couple Blew Out The Match

angry couple shaking the tree
branches of leaves crying their spree
cohabitation skips their stride
duet of steps the banshee prides
eyes so saddened harsh with could be's

faces of two, filled with wept seas
gone are the keys to their hearts glee
hails the storm of words of which deride
                        angry couple

incessant doom waives their decree
Judas shown their true faces free
kisses of the heart now divide
longings be forever untied
matches to a lasting flames flees
