Disrobing ego

A clever man strides into a cleverer room
Of those he believes to be below him
But what of those behind the other door
A barrier of intellect between them

With doctorates and knowledge so sure
That they are but the best
Let all believe without others' regard
That their presence glows beyond the rest

What is confidence without carelessness
Blind eyes to incompetence
The best today is tomorrow's worst
And next week's insignificance

Premium Member Lemuel Gulliver

A great adventurer Lemuel Gulliver
found horses cleverer than what he thought could be ever.
The Houyhnhnms spoke with rational wisdom of sense,
but human-like Yahoos in contrast seemed stupid immense.

Jonathan Swift’s utopian character in his novel “Gulliver’s Travel”.

Premium Member A Man Also Of Contradiction

He always tends to say he doesn't care,
But I let him ramble his woes into the air.
Since we met, he tries keeping composure,
Til he let his emotions have more exposure.

I loved his cool, rational side so instantly,
Though he'd at times respond frustratingly.
He is quite the modest, honest character,
But he is like me: an eccentric, but cleverer.

I finally found out more of his true nature:
He is so loving, profound, wise, and mature,
But ready to cross lines which are blurred.
I admire how he talks when he feels stirred.

In love with this man also of contradiction:
He is a mirror of my own dual disposition.
Him opening up makes me lose my tension,
His everything is worthy of all my devotion.

Sam I am

Green Eggs and Ham
Bright is cleverer than smart
Take your time cosmic egg
Get there in this rhyme

Posses not my unconscious mind
Just like a seasoned ham

Essence of the soul
La Cremosa classical
Nursery book rhyme

Sam I am
Tall Tale from of gold antiquities
museum of od rot it nots meaning wood
Green stripes outlines of mirth

Giza Plato with plutonium
Green eggs and ham

Nature renews the balance
In harmony empowered growth

Stability in prosperity moon rock
Third rock from the sun

Can't wait

Getting excited now
After the long wait
My time has come now

Free to move on with my life
I am no more the narcissists wife
Peace of mind is here to stay
I have recovered in every way

Have so many things to explore
With lots of new people around me, I adore
No more being ignored and unloved
I will open so many good doors

I am a different person now
Stronger cleverer than ever before
So off I go into my new world
I am happier than ever before

The Open Mic Night

I spent my adolescence writing lots of teenage angst
through poetry, and stuck with it, despite it being pants.
I’ve been to Open Mic nights, and risen through the ranks.
I don’t get heckled quite so much, and even get some thanks.

I’ve had some poems published, and felt my work improve.
It’s given me some confidence when I’m not in the groove.
I watch a brand-new poet. The first time that they’ve tried.
I clap, although I’m jealous, and thinking deep inside -

Oh crikey, not another better poet on the scene.
How come even novices are better than I’ve been.
I don’t want competition from someone just seventeen.
Oh crikey, not another better poet on the scene.

Everyone’s much cleverer, and wittier than me -
I’m slipping down the rankings. I’m in the bottom three.
I wish there was a talent freeze and some kind of embargo.
I wish I had a better rhyme than using Avocado!

Oh crikey, not another novice poet doing well.
It must be genes or talent. It’s such a living hell!
Poets used to start quite poor, get better bit by bit.
I hate all bleeding poets now. I wish they were more sh..

Big Data

Big Data

What if we build a smart computer
so smart we call it AI
what if it grew so clever
cleverer than you or I

What if we build a big computer
to handle all that data
it becomes self aware
to solve our mysteries better

What if it discovers something
an origin a singularity
true nature of existence
dark matter or dark energy

So utterly astonishing
without the smallest doubt
it decides not to tell us
in case we freak-the-feck-out

My Voice

Okay, maybe “despair” isn’t the word I’m looking for.
Maybe it’s just “desperation.”
Maybe it’s impatience and anxiousness, hoping to find my unique voice, but I feel I’m shouting in a vacuum, broadcasting loud and clear when no one’s tuned to my frequency.
Plus, whenever I think I have something profound to say, someone cleverer has said it more eloquently than I could.
But you know what? I think that fate, coincidence, God, whatever, aligns things so that surely my signal will resonate with the correct receiver and someone will find meaning in the program.
And won’t that be grand?

Love Such Long Time Ago

Love…Such Long Time Ago
Summers I dream of you and I say to myself if I had
played my cards right my life would have taken another,
path, only I don´t play cards and love has nothing to do
with poker, you can´t win in love even if you have aces.
It takes commitment, honesty and no fear of passing
rejection. I wanted to take you to USA, drive through
the states an make love to you in everyone and I would
kiss your beautiful body, inhale your fragrance and not
worry about tomorrow. I had the air ticket and money,
Florida the first objective, but you were so impossible
beautiful and I could not cope if you said no; and if you
had said yes, how would I cope with your loveliness?
I feared that on our journey you would find a bloke who
could dance, leave let me continue a boundless journey
through the USA. I would not know how to get home cause
you are cleverer than me and knew how to read a map…
my map was love for you, sometimes, that is not enough.
My love is infinite and as it is it will continue this way
… a dream and children I never had. I ask: forgive my timid
heart and let me sleep.

Cleverer, Or More Clever...

We make motions, to fight lack of resistance,
That are recognized by only ourselves.
- Motion noticed - We're still certain of our stance
So to the depths of emotion our fight delves.

Forever and a day, plus an hour or two
Led to hollow war waged out of control.
- Isn't all we need - a couple or a few
For a mist of lies and deceit to slowly roll?

Follow me down to the ragged, shallow
Explosion-torn landscape we live in.
While there we'll find corpses to hallow,
Or those dying quickly, wasted and thin.

But Cleverer, Or More Clever still,
Is the addition of your friendship,
- When your love is this powerful. -
Frighteningly harsh, like stinging whip.

You've never been closer than the here and now.
But while I advance, you move farther away.
I'll take what I can't and give back the "how;"
Let short-lived loneliness bring what it may.

Premium Member They Come Out At Halloween

Halloween night, when the ghouls come alive
For these few hours above, they seek and strive
Their grim looks and spooky presence
The mist they drift in, their ghostly luminescence

As the dawn breaks, they are gone from our world
For another year, their eerie sounds won't be heard
But come the next fall, we all need to beware
For on Halloween night, we're in for spooky grim scare

So look after the kids, protect them from the ghouls
For the ghosts in the night, are cleverer than fools

Sharp Spurs

A poem written on the spur of a moment taken furtively
from another busy day slipped into a secret pocket of
a too over voluminous jacket slipped on to cover a
favorite silk shirt. A mixing of double meanings designed
to thwart casual critics and entice the cleverer into time
wasteful mind games that entertain with ever twisting wit
and rewarding salutations. Sunday leisured pleasure
twixt sips of spiced black char.
Cooling too swiftly and biting at tongue roots
in stinging frustration as the day ever screams
to be used in more suitable ways of activity
Spurring momentously in anguished flailing wrath
As the memory taste of the last dregs fades into
sugar salt bitterness of sweet saliva
