Shadows creep along
sunlight chases them away
moon light unites all
If innocence is as observed by me,
A carefree behavior is all we see.
In Its presence we know not, right from wrong,
And we will soon learn, and it won’t take long.
In youth it appears when we’re having fun.
Innocence has faces, there’s more than one.
We see the changes as we run and play.
Living life changes us, day after day.
Our innocence changes as we mature,
Both joys and sorrows we’ve learned to endure.
First a child crawls, before walking the floor.
We grow through innocence, then it’s no more.
Innocence is changing, there’s no debate,
The passing of innocence is its fate.
Just like a fan or bystander
In bleachers only to gander
We see D.T. cheat
And try to accrete
House box seats through gerrymander
This morning we jogged early
I was back in my flat by six-thirty
From my tenth floor view of the Charles River basin,
The morning was incandescently flushed by the peach-colored sun.
The transparent clouds seemed stylistically stained, artfully workshopped,
which offered a softened, Tiffany glass effect wholly worthy of worship.
I can’t stop to admire it. I’m jamming things into suitcases.
Cramming things into boxes, giving things away.
I had a second interview Monday afternoon, for Johns Hopkins med school. They put the question to me:
“The semester starts in 18 days - can you do that?”
“Yes,” I replied, and just like that, I'm a Blue Jay.
Of course, I had to withdraw from the masters program but Harvard gave me a full (95K) refund - I think they’re more excited about my med school admission than I am.
I’m not afraid of discordant notes.
They change the landscape.
Take us to new emotional places.
Any major work is going to have them.

A song for this:
Hang on Little Tomato by Pink Martini
It's Amazing by Jem
Growing up in my birth state,
I was a "Time Watcher".
I wanted to move away as soon as possible
Living in A Northern big city,
I was a "People Watcher".
I wanted to avoid dangerous people
Living for over 40 years out west,
I was a "Landscape Watcher".
I loved the sceneries.
I now live in a weather sensitive region,
And I am now a "Cloud Watcher".
Weather changes very rapidly.
Down here on Ruby Lane
Sitting looking at the rain
Looking at my glass of red
Thinking what I haven’t said
If through negligence some changes
Shuffle here with rearrangements
Nothing’s changed its all the same
Changes die on Ruby Lane
From the dullest land of mad
I have come to get some bread
And some wine I need to take
Just to have a little break
Cause I can afford it now
No one’s here to disallow
They don’t care neither do I
Could it be I’ve come to die
In this place that’s fine by me
Where I laughingly can see
Sunny spots through drops of rain
Down here on Ruby Lane.

Contest: YOUR CHOICE v
Sponsored by: Brian Strand
Contest Judged: June 7th, 2025 9:52:00 PM
Placement: First
If you could go back, even just once
Would you fall for a face or feel for a heart?
Would you still ignore that quiet voice inside
Or would you trust it this time & let it guide?
Would you laugh a little more, cry a little less
Take the messy road, stop the guess?
Would you stop chasing perfect, slow down and see
That love isn’t always what it seems to be?
If life’s just one shot, no pause or repeat
Would you dance in the rain, not just stay on your feet?
Would you say the words you always held back
And carry less weight in that old pack?
We don’t get to rewind, only learn as we go
But still, I wonder… if you could, would you?
I am that presence which cannot be named,
walking without a broken stride
no place for me to run or hide
faced all that tried to hinder me
now my voice make the devil flee
I always loved from a place of truth
releasing the pain my soul full of youth
loving and accepting myself as a whole
feeding and nourishing my hungry soul
fasting praying learning a new way in life
has set me apart from those of spiritual strife
lies manipulations deceptions fooled them all
on the path trusting myself answering the call
awakening to see me with their unveiled eyes
wondering how I did it now they become spies
distorted reputation or image will never stop me
healed from trauma and pain is the reason I'm free

Monocrostic (Birthday of Dina E. Tiburcio)
Yeah its true
Things change all the time
I saw it just passing by
And while I'm standing here
I think how i came here
Deep i think and notice,
The differences too feel good
But I'll never forget the start.
Life goes on
flows and changes
no matter what.
Day replaces night
spring comes after winter.
We all want to live happily:
quietly and peacefully
joyfully and brightly.
We all want to love
raise children
work with pleasure
and earn money.
As you see, as you dream
a life full of meaning.
To live in a dream of you
Is the only worth way to be
I have to admit, it feels new
Its too much of myself in me
When you were around, I was
In the right proportion you set
It’s a radical change of source
A dream of living, that we once had
Is a realm of spirits and angels
All of the immaterial kind
You knew I’d go through these changes
That you left for me to find.
May we all be blessed to be like Alice in Wonderland
and before our life is done…
realize when it comes to fairy tales…
we’re living in the middle of one.
If nothing change
How life react
Give it some thought.
Aging is course
A good process
A road to follow.
End of river
Always the sea
All water meets.
Life is past track
Cashless is next
Target revealed.
