i g n o r a n c e~
is a rhyme without soul
an art of f a d i n g into oblivion...
like crestfallen tulips
twirling through tethered rays
in the midst of seething sighs...
and I am more than the
blazing thorn
of a phoenix rose moon,
 infused in scarlet elixirs
 of a sorcerous twilight,
weaving l o v e
         in golden glows
amidst double-flamed scales
burning my velvety h e a r t...
    pondering, would you
be the galactic gardener
that waters
   my weathered spirit
when I am but
 a mere memento~
 tangled in
         vindictive vines of vanity,
for I have a voice
        I sing in garnet grace...

if tomorrow
you feel my heartbeat
between vintage verses
of a scentless sonnet
long forgotten, and e r a s e d
remember,
I am the silk and sage
     and the untamable
 silhouette
             of a balmy blossom
that refuses to breathe
 in the ossuary
         of perished petals,
               and wrinkled dreams,
ostracized by
          chauvinistic thistles
                     and unpolished ink
  pricking the soft stems
      facing cyclones of greed
c i r c l i n g
           in sheer arrogance....

tonight I trace the hyacinth heat
of unwavering zest,
         drawing sanguine
smoke of love
            with winged gossamer
tied to the redolent roots
        of unblemished skylines
while crocheting
             petrichor promises
unto the backbone of
           a nocturnal garden,
where handmade
wreaths of hope and faith
feel softer than lunar light~
 as this heart resembles
       a maternal bouquet
                         of burgundy b l i s s ...
a woman who heeds not
                     misogynistic mantras ...

Fowl Language

What is it ‘bout fowl language,
                     makes folks complain the most?
It doesn’t seem to faze
10 million chickens coast to coast!

So many are misled
by what they hear as “chatter”
But if they spoke some ‘fowl” themselves
they’d know what was the matter!

For one thing, it’s the roosters,
                               bad as chauvinistic pigs!!
They can’t converse at all
                          without getting in their digs!

Cramped quarters are another,
                               makes decorating tough!
To put feed on the table
                                has really gotten rough!

Then, the turkeys, ducks and geese
                                   have to join the band
Their accents are so heavy,
                   makes them hard to understand!

I get my info from the source
                             not from some old trucker
I know Amelia Egghart
                      She’s the Head Mother Clucker!

To embrace
life’s analytic myth
to inspire
nature’s symbolic smile,
to manoeuvre
amidst northern skies of blue
to roam
chauvinistic contours sensitive and true.
To perceive
inclement purple haze that rebels
against the moor side mist,
to dwell if only momentarily within
a dream upon
“Windgate Nick” Where dandelion
seeds float in sunbeams
of radical tranquil,
and fanciful fables
of innocent finery are spawned.
To wander
the fallow tracks of “Heber’s Ghyll”
Stride the sparsely tussock
of “Nab wood Hill”
Create vernacular legend
amid “Viking” Skill!
Ramble again
the stony edge of “Ilkley Moor”
Split the boulder find the cure
formulate
a pageant, compose an
hereafter tour, if only to believe in him!

Book: Radiant Verses: A Journey Through Inspiring Poetry

I May Be a Scaredy Cat, But

I am a real scaredy cat
and there's absolutely nothing that
I could do about that.

I'm scared of 'roaches
I'm scared of rats
I'm scared of spiders
and afraid of bats
I fear all arachnids
and I fear those gnats
Oh I fear all the kinds I find
of those creepy crawly brats!
And but what can I do about that?
Huh and who woudn't fear
a midnight rat-a-tat?
So I've resigned myself to being
a lifelong scaredy cat.
Yeah and I'm scared of heights
Scared of noises at night
Gah, I'm really quick to fright!
I'm scared of grasshoppers and even of dogs
Gosh there's hardly a thing that I ain't scared of.
But I admit I am a timid tigress
otherwise I'm a harmless human who don't hurt a fly
Normally just a normal lady, a humble poetess
I attack only when provoked to the limits
so as I'm a cat after all
I do show my tiger claws if the situation demands
or else I don't mind chickening out
of aggressive and foolhardy involvements.
And maybe if everybody was a coward like me
they wouldn't hurt each other with sheer brutality.
I guess for ladies it's not so bad to be
a bit more cowardly
In any case that's far better than being
a ruffian who's dastardly!
And oh, lastly but not the least
ah yes, I also greatly fear
any lustful male leer
I'd rather I'm invisible to their view
So I really find huge refuge
in the dear divine idea that exhorts me to
to drape and wrap myself from top to toe
in flowing garbs when I step outdoors
and that veiling attire does make me brave
as I feel vulnerable no more
and that's when I feel the transformation from lil kitty
into the big cats
from scaredy cat to formidable tigress
and that's when for once there's NOTHING I fear anymore! :)
as I go out veiled in soft armour from top to toe.
And I feel I can face the chauvinistic foe

Premium Member A Chauvinistic Ode

	A Chauvinistic Ode
	Written: by Tom Wright
	1999

	In days of old,
	When Knights were bold,
	And shuddered at the thought of laundry;
	You could look around,
	And nowhere was found,
	A Knight such as me in this quandary;

	But that olden day,
	When Knights had final say,
	Was before N.O.W. appeared on the scene;
	Now the Maids dictate,
	While Knight's vociferate,
It's a rock and our armor we're between.

	Then, young maids would shriek,
As they trouped to the creek,
	To beat clothes between two rocks;
	It now sounds real sad,
	But surely wasn't that bad,
Because then Knight's didn't wear socks.

	However, in those Medieval days,
On her Knight she'd heap praise,
	Her protectorate and true bread winner;
But now from work she returns,
	And for yesteryear yearns,
Greeted by, "Sugar Plum, What's for dinner"?

Lament Of A Fallen Peaceful Warrior

Dreamt as I hover amongst the distant stars I never existed
No hands or feet or words of regret discernibly heard or said

                                             ----------------------

Wisdom in absence fail to disallow peace to vanish in thin air
Frenzied voices roar aloud while impregnable walls shattered
In clandestine dungeons hidden tears accrued to gun powder
Explodes like thunder for promises of love eventually faltered

Most chauvinistic of senses heart of virtuousness admonishes
Bares distended egos of men claiming their cruelest conquest
Power and greed and envy amass even in gravity free spaces
Truly mesmerized by immoral desire to suffocate the weakest

Tried to escape bloody scenes of war which makes skin quiver
Restraining enduring wrath for revenge to punish the evil doer
Beneath burial ground where cold eroding bones in solitude be
Justice shifting dark to light these eyes are not destined to see

                                               ----------------------

Within this endless void I aimlessly probe for ultimate meaning
An impalpable force caresses this lost spirit crying for the living

Sweet Cheerleader With the Open Mind

sweet cheerleader
with the open mind,
i was wondering if
you would like to go
to the park with me
after practice

i admit that i was
flirting with you
earlier and that i
was checking out
your legs, your thighs,
and your perky behind
during lunch

yes, i am a typical male,
but that does not mean
that i am disrespectful,
chauvinistic, or demeaning

i just would like to get to know
the person behind the persona

i would really like to get to know
....YOU....

that is....if it is alright with you....

you do not have to give me an answer
right now....in fact, you do not even have
to answer at all

just you giving me the time just to say these
mere words to you....is the cherry on top of
the vanilla fudge sundae of my day....thank
you....and have a blessed weekend

My Guilt

Two days have passed and its not over
I'm still ravaged by my gory deed of inaction
Been praying to the gods asking mercy
To forgive me and grant me guts and to be swifter in action

I live in a country unsafe for women
Laws and its protectors are a dicy affair
Always frightened of getting trapped
In a horrific misadventure on the streets

Shocked and shaken up after watching a late night movie
A nerve wrecking, true story on honour killing
I took long to doze off only to wake up before I slept
Foggy and heavy in mind wondered what was happening

I could hear a girl shouting and a man yelling
Got out of my bed and tried to hear from where
The heart rending cries were coming much beyond midnight hour
I walked to the window but couldn't see through the thick creepers

Rushed to the lobby windows for a clearer view
Saw a young girl sitting on the road before the car in tears
Her husband -presumably with the authority he was using-
Angered and abusive was asking her to get into the car

She refused and kept pleading that her arm was broken
She refused to be seated and was given a tight slap
She was just howling that she was in pain as her arm was broken
A lady who I thought was her mother was foolishly consoling her

I wasn't sure if she was drunk after late Christmas celebrations
Or a regular victim of a suffering male chauvinistic abuser
Before I could wake up another neighbour she was shoved
Into the car and driven off and I couldn't see her mother anywhere

I'm guilt ridden that I didn't act quickly to save her
Keep wondering which house she belonged to
Has she been hospitalised or suffering more brutalities?
Now I'm stocked with helplines, I pray to the gods to make me quick in action

Acceptance Without Exception!

A primeval well accepted tradition
Once married a girl need to adjust
Even if the in-laws burn her to death
Put on a smile in front of the society
No authority to follow owned rights
Yes to all decided by unity except her
Get up each day with warmth for all
Even when it kills her thousand times
As marriage is a constitution to drive
Change the life of a girl without asking

A man’s world widely accepted by all
Women after all seen “behind” success
Esteem is so called the wealth of men
In the chauvinistic driven modern world
We talk of technology and progression
Yet the hearts within still unsecured
If women will really get empowerment
Will hamper our proclaimed self esteem
Keep them in veils, trap them in rituals
Many societies follow such strategy!!!

Safety and security for working women
Still a big question in this global forum
As change is feared to accept equality
Devils in form of men disgrace the esteem
Shaking the humanity and human culture
Acclaimed as the posh section of society
Hiding the deeply wore scorn in their face
Still there are instances so vivid and clear
Where prime religion is to worship Women
World prospers, whirls air particles in cheer

Why then apprehensions at some places
Still to accept the esteem of each other
Equation will be so fruitful and simpler
Self esteem of each will increase by itself
Protect a culture which gives growth to all
Adopt new changes and walk with time
Acceptance without exception…
Adds to self esteem of nation’s emblem

Waffle Does Wiff It Does Not Woof

A teapot has a wonderful wingspan of over five centimetres but a button for a shirt has incredible wings measuring sixty eight point nine metres. This was sure to upset teapot who rather fancied itself as being the largest wing in the house. Blatant blaring belligerence brings big heads. And a chauvinistic chatting charging caped cauliflower sings whilst on horseback whilst waving a large opaque pair of patterns tights. The passing pockets grin. And the integrity of an integer was integral to internally investigate ironic irksome ilk. It is unwise to wear such a floral outfit when mopping the lawn. Mopping the lawn should only ever be done in a space suit. And mopping lawns can only occur after firstly cutting the lawn with a pair of scissors. Paper scissors or baby scissors. No bigger for the grass blades will attack back against shearing. They do not appreciate hair cuts and hair cuts are neither heated headed hallways and nor are they mispronounced adjectives weaving in and out of a sentence when the sentence is moving and talking. Quite rude. One should listen to sentences. But adjectives don't they either abstain or are aggressive. This is not a pattern to prune a pin bush? Ha a fly is calling on a currant to play on a toboggan. Ha the entire end of annexed antelope is lifting five feet overhanging a bridge. Xxxxx hippopotomonstrosesquipedaliophobia arriving at ten past three. And llanfairpwyllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndt obwyll-llantysiliogogogoch..... Big z then. Yes. Z

Contest Poem: 1984 Or 2017

1984 or 2017 (For Contest)

I ran as far away as I could
It predicted we'd fail, that all would ...
We humans revolt against "ought" and "should."

Orwell knew better - O well, you say!
In 1948, as one War seemed to give way
To a quieter, colder one, he penned away

We are all equal, but some are more equal
Between "Revelation" and "1984" one is a sequel
The last hope, the "last trump" renders us unequal

To the chosen, Napoleon and beasts like him,
(all rather uncouth but dressed to impress and kill)
Yet patience is preached; leaders are ordained by Him

Saddam Hussein had a name with "dam" in it
The anti-Christ may be smoother, imitating the Holy Spirit;
Lighter is not always whiter, or righter - I mean "right"?

Before Napoleon, the Books of Romans and Corinthians stated
We all fall short of the mark, God's standard (always hated!)
Not in love, in democracy or "progress" as we get highly educated

I, too, may be a recovering chauvinistic pig
My prayer is that my current Christian wig
Is of the New Man, kosher, sans hate, with Shalom, sans intrigue

Faithful with God's Spirit, loyal to His Son
From heaven all humans look alike, in hate and unforgiveness - one -
The last trump may usher in True Government, God's Kingdom!

Trump

'Trump'

Oh Donald you're really quite thick
Your 'policies' make me feel sick
No respect for the law or the truth
Your manner beyond the uncouth

You prove money may buy any farce
But seems it can't buy you that class
Ignorant, beyond chauvinistic
Twitter tantrums so narcissistic

Already sent your country back years
With xenophobic and racist fears
Surrounded by the rich and corrupt
Apparently ok to bankrupt

It's not ok to mock the disabled
You pick on the weak and mislabelled
A delusional grabber of pussy
You're just a dangerous tangerine bully

Mr Purt

There is a man named Mr. Purt
Money and power are his turf.

He rules the land with a tangerine fist
Misogynistic deeds always tops his list

He takes what he wants, no questions are asked.
Women are no exceptions in his take-over tasks

Greasy, slime-ball, a Neanderthal if you will.
Algae of the earth, pond scum, seeking chauvinistic thrills.

He encompasses himself with a cluster of men who think the same.
Narcissistic beastly creatures, I do proclaim!

Mr Purt is the leader of these evil clones
overcompensating with their wallets while he is perched on his throne.

Receding hair line over indulgent brutes
siting in the country club in their Armani suits.
Laughing and saying "All women are sluts and whores to a degree".
Puffing on cigars and sipping on their Brandy.

So, ladies, if you happen to see Mr. Purt and his entourage walk your way
RUN! RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN!
HIDE YOURSELF FROM THE ORANGE HAND!

I could be quicker to apologize
and more deeply reconsider
healthy and safe restitution
restoration
restoring right relationship
restorying win/win potential
resolutions

To become more integrally confessional
when I have lacked transparency
hidden by invulnerable
chauvinistic silence

Fearing to offend
on matters not deeply mattering
to me
but almost certainly significant
to this one before me
and/or those beyond me
who do care

However selfishly
needing to be heard
respected

Wanting to have control
over healthy
safe possibilities
truthful
potentially beautiful
where they have invested

Even though I may see
and hear their outcomes,
smell
and taste these same yields
touched
and felt too win/lose
zero sum infested
congested,
too hungrily ingested
injected

I would be quicker to apologize
reconsidering healthy and safe restitution
restoring right relationships
restorying win/win
cooperative
more inclusive
open
vulnerable
and yet resiliently resonant
robustly forgiving
co-invested

Triple A

Without being too melodramatic
As a rule it is axiomatic
That finding a rhyme is problematic
Or a mind that’s idiosyncratic
But this plays out as melodramatic

Regard for readers is altruistic
Male poets must not be chauvinistic
And contest winners less egotistic
Such regard of self is narcissistic

Making these statements is asseveration
Speaking out so without reservation
A deviation or aberration
Not esteemed worthy of admiration

This contest piqued my curiosity
So, I’m drunk with my own verbosity!
