"La Voz"
La Noche sin agua --- I spill my loving lips
Dancing, laughing, and celebrating life
I am his queen, aka' dulce Nina
A night he must not forget
Lunesta ... Suave ...
He savors every moment;
Then questions my capabilities
Suddenly I feel like a refugee in my own house!
History and bad company, repeating itself
He wants to ruin the beauty of leadership
America on top, Latinos on the bottom
"Legally," he says, he'll welcome me
Law-abiding, I pass the proper speech
Stereotyped every time I share my race
Casting my poor nationality under the Rio Grand,
A wall too tall, in which my people continue to build
After I give him my all
Children, love, support
The best tortillas in the house
He offends a lifetime of memories
I'm a skillful woman, I dance with no music
I love to work, I take the field
Picking cotton, like there's no tomorrow
I will continue to paint rainbows
And enjoy every color in my garden.
Today, I've forgotten what Mexico looks like
However, that does not cut him from
accusing my race of planting too many trees
Calculating, calling Latinos criminals,
Forgetting his sin, he wants to win
Insinuating we're robbing the American Dream
This is where I belong!!!
Go ahead and build more republicans
I'm already on the side I want to be
Born and raised in the USA

There are cities of sonnets to map
Quests of pantoums and villanelles
To harness, and ride
Across the wide
Tangled grassland of gratuity
Unwritten, unruled
Anarchy of expression
Empty lines can entice
And immobilize
The choice of choice
May embolden, or paralyze
But the space you embrace
Is where you hear your voice
In the discipline of daring
The dance of chance
The only choreography
You need heed
Is your pen.

Poem of the Day, November 29, 2019
Life and death across the sky
some must live and some
must die
Broken wings and slivers
showing
Shredded hopes the
wind is blowing
Feathers flying, hear the
call
Of the Night Hawk
through it all
Terror blotting out
the stars
Talons leaving
battle scars
Life and death across the
sky some will live and some will die.
Across the universe
Has there ever been a band,
That so many understand
Life changing music, made and played,
By courtesy, of their hand
Imagination limitless,
Creations lit the spark in us
Visions of a better time, unreal sublime,
Took away, the dark in us
Those were the heady days,
Absorbing us in many ways
Seducing ears, eyes filled with tears,
With how their songs amaze
Now I recall how sad we were,
At the setting of the sun
But all good things, must come to end,
When all is said and sung
I would wrap up all those lines,
That tingle jingle at the nerves
And send them in a rocket ship,
To burst, across the universe
Nothings gonna change their world
Nothings gonna change their words
Nothings gonna change their world
As they fly across the universe

Poem Written 7 March 13
Walking a tightrope across my inner self…
Dare to look down pass the pages from my shelf…
It tells the story of the mind that sits outside my soul…
Discolored and torn but the meaning still screams from what is whole…
Tiny scars stained by raindrops that never really dried…
Washed down my hand and caressed the tears I could never hide…
The journey left me crawling for my peace…
Onto a table beside a pen I sit and release…
Far away, from the rim of the Earth
Beyond the oceans, beyond human reach,
Across realms, I have found my way,
Into the aerial pockets of the blue.
On spread wings I have soared
To watch you ever from above!
I am now one with the stars,
Floating in ether like a mysterious sprite
Here where I dwell unseen,
Is a land beyond all cares.
Here is such lively luminousness,
And such cheerful blaze
Cherubs on wings fly around joyous,
Where love is a timeless theme,
And where blooms a million stars.
From here, I shall pluck a star for you.
Let it shine in your eyes,
And mirror the blue sky,
Where I shall script the code of love
(I try to forget your eyes,
Two limpid pools brimming with tears,
When I set out on my journey
And broke through the clouds,
Across mysterious realms)
Now as we are apart, we shall treasure,
Our silent love, spanning across realms,
Till you come to join me, never to part,
To be extended to immeasurable eternity
Transcending the limits of time!

Echoes breath of northern fields
where rhythms form as twilights dance
Alone my love does play for you
on mystic strings of found romance
Neath weathered winds on sunset views
of amethyst and crimson haze
Fluorescent flows in shimmered light
to harmonize these snowfall days
For hear my love, eurhythmic tones
symphonically our song takes flight
Concertos played of purest sound
across melodic skies this night

Skylarks Call Across Light of Morning 1-11-23
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Skylarks Call Across Light of Morning
“Skylarks call across morning light”
After cold quiet stills laughter
In the deep shafts of ebony
Matins roll away stubborn stones.
Daylight spins on dawning’s spread wings,
Skylarks call across morning light,
“A kiss from the rose on the grey”
Sun and fading stars paint the dawn.
“Shattered grace falls in jagged nights”
Yet morning chimes guide blinded eyes
Skylarks call across morning light
From somewhere behind the rainbow.
In the dawn, love holds out a hand -
“Echo in the sounds of silence” -
Arms remember holding magic,
Skylarks call across morning light.”
“Skylarks call across the morning.” From Ash Groves – A Welsh folksong
“Kiss from the rose on the grey” Seal from Batman Forever
“Shattered grace falls in jagged nights.” From Poet’s album - Jericho Road
I was walking barefoot along the beach.
It was a sundrenched beautiful day.
A Seagull overhead, almost within reach.
Then it quickly turned and flew away.
A gust of wind caught my spirit and let it fly.
It began to soar upon gossamer wings.
It felt light as a feather as it danced across the sky.
I heard the ocean's music, my heart began to sing.
The island wind lifted my spirit to a new height.
I wanted to fly through the clouds and beyond.
Where my dreams could become my heart's delight.
No longer in shadows, my heart and soul respond.
Soon the sun was fading, creating a softer light.
The glorious rays illuminating the clouds were gone.
The joyful part of me welcomed the night.
Heavenly bodies of stars, will guide my spirit on.
I came across a Jumpher
A jumphin’ up at me.
It wasn’t very springy
As far as i could see.
It tried to do someothersault,
Impressing like a tree,
But landed with a thumping thud
And hurt his only knee.
‘How come you like to ravel so?’
I bellied like a navel,
While on the other hand i plied
Some custard on a table.
‘I’m only giving all I’ve got-
A hundred miles an hour.
But if you take it at a trot
It soaks you with a shower.
‘I see,’ i said, came out my head,
And nodding fully clothed,
I asked if he’d seen Ninnynook?
A nose that knows no prose.
‘I likes to smell his gravy soup.’
He jumphered like a sweater,
Then driving like a five wheeled horse
Left home wrapped in a letter.
‘Good luck, you leaphing lunging loon.’
I mouthed in Granny’s gums
Then smiling like a holiday
I went to see my chums.
The blueing ocean
Separate eagle and dove
Spiritual birds
I passed beneath the bridge today
close by the place you once called home,
and I sensed your latent footprints
still lingering upon the stone.
I wonder . . . did you pass that way,
mysteriously, in the night,
as guardian angels carried you
across the galaxies toward light?
If my love were to be frozen in time
would its enamored glow forever remain
as poetry in a book, Sonnets written in rhyme?
If in flakes of snow, my heart was encased
would my affection wax and never wane?
It's said a heart without passion is frigid
and incapable of feeling torrid emotion,
but if winter frost glazed o'er me, a rose,
do you suppose my love would become rigid?
Nay! It would survive with endless devotion.
What of spring, when then I would thaw?
Would my tears mingle with melting ice?
Perish that thought for being profound,
for my love harbors no fault, foible, nor flaw.
The sting of cold is a meager sacrifice.
I will never be cloaked in withered petals
no wilting will be found in my tender bloom.
My ardor will not shrivel like dried nettles,
and no demise of my love will ever occur,
nor darkling days shrouded in sullen gloom.
No matter the harsh chill of Winter's season,
do not dither in despondent shadows,
for I will plead innocent, "Not guilty of treason!"
You've no need to fear woes of despair,
for nothing can weaken the bond we share.
Love avowed as truth, through eternity will last,
a promise etched across the breadth of my heart.
In realms of desire, I promise to linger with you,
and to this fervent pledge, I will hold steadfast
until the villain, mortality, wrests us apart.
There was a time in life so long ago
when all my visions suddenly seemed dark;
the nighttime sky was void of moonlight’s glow,
and sunless winter days were grey and stark.
I felt as though the walls were closing in,
and squeezing from my soul my very life
as I was drowning in my sea of sin
surrounded by the darkness and the strife.
As I lay in the gutters of my dreams,
a hand so tenderly reached out to me;
a stranger lifting spirits from extremes
then bridged the raging waters of my sea.
His soft grey eyes so gently gave a nod,
and suddenly I saw the face of God.
Poem of the Day - May 19, 2020
I
Waited
Patiently
For you to call
I feel so lonely
Longing to hear your voice
Azure sea keeps us apart
Suddenly the telephone rings
The smile in your voice eases my heartache
