IF I CAN CHANGE THE WORLD

If I want to change the world
I will get a train ride
To mount Zion today
And get the express permission
Of God
I will ask God
To allow all married men
With marital challenges
To rewind the clock of life
And move it to their
Comfort zone of bachelorhood

Casting Off The Bow Line

Casting Off The Bow Line

Goodbye
my unwed darling
I’m married
to this dream

Freedom
calling out to me
betrothal thus
redeemed

Bachelorhood
a Siren’s calling
Feted tween
the sails

Truant winds
to act upon
Legends
tell the tale

Setting off
this final time
Rudder
in my hand

Truth when hoisted
up the mast
Liberty
— commands

(Dreamsleep: February, 2024)

So Imbued

Crime without sanction
honor among thieves
Tomatoes tomattos
prudish obscene

Rules as their written
intention entwined
Good becomes bad
sight becomes blind

Credence engendered
by those so imbued
A prince or a pauper
depends on your view

The world in a tailspin
no two think the same
the baby the bathwater
— praising the blame

(The New Room: February, 2024)

Time Awaits

Not connected to
the dollar

Courted
never wed

Engaged to no one
but himself

Making
his own bed

All fame and fortune
lost to fate

Constancy
of mind

Whose future readers
time awaits

His legacy
— to find

A New Refrigerator

Her new fridge
set as a giant gleaming jewel between
clean countertop & faithful kitchen cupboards

Icemaker
amiable crispers bins & shelves
cavernous freezer with sensible sliding drawer

She’d paid cash
using her hard earned own money
smartly side-stepping debt & obligation

The old fridge
battered exterior puny packed interior
bleeding cold & ice cube trays always plundered

It was his
revered bachelorhood relic
when it failed she feared she’d lost everything

She kissed
her kitchen’s cherished crown jewel
its powerful compressor cooling her mind

An Old Bachelor

A fast depreciating currency,
Pity arousing like an emergency
His low earning not an excuse
For a now irritating celibacy
And choice of a lifelong recluse,
Whose quitting ought to have been with immediacy!

In closely knit societies the first outlaw,
Easily emerging the night’s gossip served raw;
In every ranking the lowly esteemed
To take up the rear among the fondly dreamed,
Be he a scholar or a voice,
A guidance counselor or one whom children rejoice:
What the hell has been stopping him from the Holy Sacrament,
If he has in a wife’ foreseen an Ornament.

Always outdoor activities shunning
But in the nocturnal hours shining,
If not among his likes the Unhappily Married,
Who when not bemoaning their marriage, already buried
Are enjoying his clever bachelorhood
And mistake avoiding manhood!

Premium Member Great Escape

Gravitational pull like quicksand, her ebony eyes
Ripping into his outer space. He tugs at his collar,
Eking out the empty space of honeysuckle perfume.
Avant-garde arrest of his indeterminate heart -
Time like scented petals pauses — a prop

Entertaining the thought, the mockery of bachelorhood
Sought for too many years. Scented petals fall like snow,
Captivating the soul — love at first sight, can it be?
“Ariel! O Ariel!” I tunnel my way to find out your name.
People like me rarely jettison to the Milky Way.
Eagerly he made quick the great escape and married her.

Partners For Life

Elusive and mysterious its majestic flight -
from bachelorhood to parenthood.
His partner nestles prettily over two lives
not yet hatched but at the ready.
He soars to distant shores for dinner -
Then glides toward their home of twig and fur-
bringing food for nourishment and strength.
He cares for her just as she cares for him
and the lives they created.
Slowly, as if afraid to enter the land of the living,
the eaglets push through the tender ivory for
their first view of blue skies and limitless future.
How fortunate these two hungry babies –
For they will be loved, fed, and nurtured till
It’s time for them to
Spread their wings and soar.

I Just Found Out the Meaning

I just found out the meaning to my bachelorhood.
Now, it's clear to me that those experiences I had earlier are lovelorn.
I've just found the reciprocal affection
I have been struggling for all these years in courtship.

I just realize I have found the right woman for my unborn generations.
I've just found the true companion I can confide in at all time.
I found love at last in this angel who now means the world to me.
God! Thank you to have sent her to me on time,
And not until the beauties in her has faded like tainted rose.

My prayer now is that God shouldn't let me lose someone
Like her that would be very hard to replace.
And I as well pray not to find any course (at a later time) to regret or curse the day we met.
I've just found out she needs white roses; she is a virgin.

New Dawn

new dawn arises--
I seek true love and comfort
bye to loneliness

My New year resolution is to find true love and say bye-bye to bachelorhood and also buy a house.I can achieve these by getting more serious and romantic and also by financial discipline...

My Main Ax

Got a soprano size at age fifteen
At sixteen, my baritone made the scene
Immediately it became my main ax
Kept it clean and nice with polish and wax

Amazed at the depth of its mellow sound
And even highs could totally astound
My love for this instrument never ceased
It made my musical prowess increase

Played at parties and on all my travels
Let its musical beauty unravel
At a “sing along” it couldn’t be beat
Having it play backup was such a treat

Throughout High School, College and Bachelorhood
I loved that piece of mahogany wood
For over sixty long years it was mine
It’s time now to pass it on down the line

Gave it to my daughter and to her girls
Knowing they would also cherish my pearl
It now brings pleasure into its new home
And still possess that fantastic tone

My Bachelorhood

These Pairs that move in the streets
Always a lovely sight to behold
Giggling and clutching their arms happily
An air of romance encompass their lives

With no one to cherish or confide in
This young bachelor admires from a distance
Reminiscing those lovely times
And muttering the word “When”
Those mistakes I made keep haunting my thoughts
And my mind struggles to keep them out

“Excuse me” – a young lady calls from behind
“Have we met before” – She continues…
My eyes glance at her entire being
My mind relays the words… “Same old stuff”
My body agrees, and departs without a single word
This Bachelor will definitely be fulfilled
And will be fulfilled by the right being

I love you, what a lie!

I could see the strain on your face
when you uttered those words

Love’s reflection is about joy,
you looked like a man who just lost his best friend,
that’s probably what you thought
when you said goodbye to your bachelorhood...

alas don’t worry, I’m not blind,
I sensed the tacit words, all over your face
I’m tired of being strung along
I’m not a puppet and you’re not my master…

tell me you love me the one minute
the next you’re hanging on some other
woman’s lips as if you’re breathing patterns depend on it!!
It’s over, I’m done! Pack up and go on your tombstone,
the words liar and cheat will be embedded in bold!!

Snow-White

Kissed by the waking sun, the rain of the night becomes undone,
I dream of you, my daily day dream; and the day has just begun
Riding up to Dahisar, I reach yonwards on my bike
Adieux I've bid to bachelorhood, looking forward to our petty fights
No other can fill my life, only you my wife; my lovely snow-white.
