Then I Wake

Skin like the morning, fresh with shimmering dew, Cheeks flushed with ecstasy’s playful hue, Under your soft gaze I quake, Sweetly poised to break, And then I Wake. There I lie, Joy fading to ache, Tears tracing the wish I make, Praying that the dawn might conjure you - Skin like the morning, fresh with shimmering dew.

Oh, this is MY winner, for sure - absolutely exquisite, with a fluidity that does not betray or cater to the form - superb, and in my favs! Huge congratulations on your excellent win in Emile's "Andaree" contest, Nina - nicely done, and happy holidays to you and yours, my friend! :-) <3

I really like how, though the first and last lines are the same, the meaning had shifted, makes me ponder this more!

Yes, it was quite fiddly to write I’ll admit! But I’ve read these before and really liked them, so I wanted to have a go. Actually took a few days of chipping away at it, bit by bit!

Thank you Chris! Yes a slightly fiddly form to get right, but I’m quite pleased with the shape at least! :-)
