The Seamstress's Song

Oh, won’t you sew a meaning,
     stitching your vision of harmony?
Sing as you wield the needle...

Oh, won’t you wind your wisdom
down to the clamouring denizens -
weave them a bright cathedral?

Oh, won’t you pin the fabric,
tack it to patterns and axioms,
ready to snip and tailor?

Oh, won’t you pull the webbing,
stifle the lumps and the lunacy?
Truth has a rancid flavour...

Oh, won’t you sew a meaning,
     stitching your vision of harmony?
Sing as you twist the needle...

May the calming diligence of every stitch weave love into our hearts.

One thing that impresses me about your poetry is the way it often 'sings'-- no doubt like poetry did when it began thousands of years ago [read a good translation of the Iliad-- you can almost hear the opening battle scene being sung in all the glory and pathos we humans are capable of!]

Thank you very much LJ! Sometimes I actually actively work to stop my poetry being toooo singsongy but I even had a little tune in my head when I wrote this one, so I went with it and made it a lyric! :o)

Wield the needle as you wield your pen. Terrific inking. Congrats.

I don't sew but can appreciate the intricacy and artistry involved, this is splendid (especially 'weave them a bright cathedral')
