The Rink As Cold Hell

You train for it exclusively
It consumes your every cell
Early in the mornings
The rink's as cold as hell

Coldness takes your breath away
As drills you do not stop
Body wants to lie and sleep
But you determination refuses to stop

Life becomes a mission
No holidays during the heat
Stronger faster and precise
To be the #1 player to beat

There's no rest for the wicked
The coach likes to chime
The wrist shot exact
Don't give the goalie time

Don't give the goalie time
Time can be their means
Staring behind the mask
Watching each play of the team

Know that when the mask goes on
And the equipment is all squared up
The Goalie stands at ready
And gloves the speeding puck

Each defenseman knows his part
Be a two way player they say
Be able to play completely
Because that's the NHL way

The forward, the shooter, the sniper by rule
Needs the speed and to be precise
It's usually their pucks that find the nets
On that unforgiving ice

You train for it exclusively
It consumes your every cell
Early in the mornings
The rinks as cold as hell
