Stone Standing Still

How are you, a tough stone On a side of the road Standing still? You have lived many lives, You have seen different times Not your will. You witnessed the wars, Fought with spears and swords. You weren’t moved. Then you saw weapons change Reaching long distant range. You withstood. You saw humans’ errors- Murders and terrorists. Had no fear. You saw nature’s mistakes- Flood, tsunami, earthquakes. Shed no tears. Well, you’d weep, you’d cry, You would suffer and die If weren’t a stone. Without soul, without heart Time is all you have had. It owns you. Wonder if you regret That forever you’re let Just to watch. Wonder if you’d trade that For a beat of a heart, For to feel and to touch. And to live, love and learn- Life is hard- many turn INTO A STONE. ON A SIDE OF THE ROAD.

Hi Margarita. I like this. It puts into perspective the wish to live forever... all you’d see... maybe you’d have to turn to stone in the end. Or maybe you’d just laugh. Coldly. Enjoyed it, thank you.
