Spirit Wolf - Villanelle

(Villanelle.)

“Spirit Wolf.”
By,
Michael P Clarke.

The spirit wolf stands his watch upon the rise,
He looks out on the cold white virgin snow,
While snow falls from the cold grey winter skies.

The wolves can hear his melancholy cries,
As the winter winds decide now to blow,
The spirit wolf stands his watch upon the rise.

The snow upon the ground oh how it lies,
The spirit wolf patrols the rise so slow,
While snow falls from the cold grey winter skies.

He calls upon the wind his sad goodbyes,
To those whose time has come to surely go,
The spirit wolf stands his watch upon the rise.

The spirit wolf watches new spirits rise,
His amber eyes they now are all aglow,
While snow falls from the cold grey winter skies.

His spirit power upon the dead bestow,
The spirit wolf stands his Watch upon the rise.
The spirit wolf his glory now does glow,
While snow falls from the cold grey winter skies.

This is hauntingly beautiful Mike! It is easy to picture that beautiful wolf with his amber eyes aglow in the snow! Wonderful imagery in this tribute to the lovely wolf and the Native Americans who revere and respect him. 7 ; )

Hi Connie, thank you for dropping by, the comment and the seven. I am glad you like the piece Connie. In this series, the title of the poem shall be the same, i shall only change the form of each poem. Just my way of trying different forms writing of something i love, the wolf, looking at it through Native American Myth. Hugs....Mike. XX

Hi Sunlite, thank you for dropping by and the comment. It is always appreciated my friend. I am so glad you liked the piece. I love wolves. I have never seen one in the wilds myself but i love looking at photos and TV shows with wolves in them. There are so many Indian tails with the wolf at its head. Hugs....Mike. XX
