Skimming a Rainbow

Skimming a Rainbow

A beautiful broad arch of spectral colour,
Optical illusion a trick of refracted light.
A singular wondrous phenomenon,
Rainbows an enchantment of sight.

Raindrops on Sun rays creating a prism,
Always greeted with a warm reception.
You cannot pass through it, or even get close,
Pots of Gold, just Angel’s deception.

On a humid day down by the River,
The conditions for creation all there,
Skimming pebbles, a leisurely pursuit,
Micro-rainbow appears from nowhere.

Sun filtering through Autumn Oak trees,
Onto ripples that are perfectly formed,
Moisture and sunlight came together,
I skimmed a Rainbow one early Morn’.

Translucent, short-lived multi-coloured,
Sent from above for our visual delight.
An ornamental gift from the Gods,
Chase a Rainbow; I think I just might.

A smooth write...I like the feel...I'll catch a rainbow before it falls...
