SHADOW OF JEALOUSY

SONNET – SHADOW OF JEALOUSY

Oh, those woeful shadows of jealous ways
precarious villain for reasons dazed,
poisoning the longing love‘s lasting days,
without confidence to chase love hazed.
The shadow of jealousy dimmed the light,
darkened every dawn and day with anguish,
torment with false accusations incite,
suffering distress ruling to languish.
Jealousy! That mortal weakness of mood,
destroying virtuous dawning passion,
love’s purity with innocence pursued,
led astray from feelings of compassion.

Why? Why was my trust in you forsaken,
the trust in myself, my self-worth shaken.

Oh I wrote on jealousy too. It's like a cancer which eats the self before it eats others, unfortunately...well penned TJ. :)

Thank you, Rahy. Yes, you are right, a little bit of jealousy is good as it shows you care. It's only when it gets out of control.... T.J

Oh gosh. There's no feeling I hate to feel worse than jealousy. Thank God I haven't felt it in a long time... You express emotions so well, so real. A 7. It is all about self worth I think. Great ending line.

Thank you so much for your kind words, Susan. I beleive jealousy has much to do with self worth and insecurity. At least that was the case with me (a long, long time ago). T.J

your words soften my heart like a damsel in need of a companion..... Your lines are sweeteners to a curious mind which is absolutely satisfied. There's this eagerness I have running to your pages and your reputation of meeting that expectation is beyond any form of appreciation or grading. Beyond 7 my friend!!

Thank you very much, Vera, for your visit and comments. The poem refers to a true story where I ruined a dawning relationship due to jealousy in my early adulthood - competition for love creates uncertainty. T.J

What a powerful write. It gives much food for thought. A little jealousy is a sign of love...the lack thereof, the sign of indifference. Thank you for visiting me of late. God bless.
