Oh My ,Oh My,Oh My

Young and before I found my path in life Many jobs I did try One of which was in the food hall of a department store Oh my, oh my, oh my There were many areas in the food hall Hot food, sandwiches, icecreams to buy So much for me to learn and do On my ,oh my ,oh my The boss lady was a very mean woman Who made employees cry Impatient, intolerant, just horrible Oh my ,oh my ,oh my! First, serving customers icecreams Soft serve cone, chocolate on the outside “This can’t be too hard” I thought to myself Oh my, oh my ,oh my! Each time I dipped an ice cream into the hot chocolate When it came out, much to my surprise The ice cream had fallen in and I was holding an empty cone Oh my ,oh my ,oh my! Next to the hot food loading chickens on the rotisserie Loaded and cooked overnight….so carefully I tried The morning found not one whole chicken, they had all fallen apart Oh my ,oh my ,oh my! Needless to say boss lady was furious with me That day she angrily said goodbye I left that afternoon never happier Oh my, oh my ,oh my!

Deb, this reminds me of my first job at a service station. I bought a motorcycle and could not leave. In the end turned out well. I went into the military and Mr. Bill the owner shook my hand and told me what a great worker I was. He never knew what good he did for me.

I'm sure you're glad you got out of that line of work since the stress would have been too much for you to endure after a while. This is a nice poetry. Blessings Debra

I can understand that feeling of elation and relief being let go to find a job you were more suited to, a job that makes you happy. I truly feel badly for those who keep jobs that make them miserable because of fear in getting another position. Life is too short. I enjoyed this poem that so many can relate to Deb. Blessings xxoo

One of the most important lessons young people have yet to learn was discovered during the Bell Telephone Work Study over 100-years ago: in any group of people, the "norm" will degenerate to the lowest level of performance to maintain the security of the group. So one is more likely to get the boot for doing a good job (which makes the others look "bad"), than a poor job! Enjoyed, Deb! Glad you made it out! Aloha!

This reminds me of many jobs I tried when very young. I started to feel like I couldn't do anything. Then I realized it wasn't me, I was trying to fit in in the wrong place. I've had mean bosses too and mean co-workers who didn't want me around and tried to get me fired for no reason. This is a great read my friend and brings back memories that leave me with a smile. Good stuff, God Bless, JB
