Let me sleep

Let me sleep now, while the blue bells are in flower,
I should like to rest with their beauty in my eyes,
All their sweetness will never sour,
Unchallenged by the turquoise skies.
Let me walk the stony walk in bare feet,
That I might not miss this place of lies,
I’ll hold my hands up against the heat,
And step into true light of the wise.
I will welcome your heavenly seraph,
With a smile of gentleness and elation,
For my life has been a sacred path,
I have danced under the miracle of the Sun.

The first four lines, especially, are so relaxing, so sweetly somnolent. Penned so preciously! Welcome to Poetry Soup, David! Best wishes, Gershon

Welcome to Poetry Soup. Nice imagery. This is a combination of rhyme and free verse and not an ABC form. If you click on 'types of poems' it will give you a selection. Aloha, Connie : )

This was beautifully composed,David. I have wonderful childhood memories of bluebell woods - visual as well as the pervading scent. I particularly loved the first 4 lines. Wendy
