Legend Called Love

What's this story I keep hearing about? Something about something called "love" Sounds to be like an old-fashioned myth About an old man in the sky above I keep reading that people practiced it It was as common as a house Then something happened along the line To snuff its fires out According to the ancient legend, People smiled, people hugged They even kissed and cuddled Signs of romantic love Sometimes, they met in bedrooms Held hands on subway seats In darkened movie houses Those were places one could be free I wonder what it all looked like There's no photographs to tell Then the tide turned to exile From the Garden, people fell It was all declared illegal Around 2034 The man became a rake and a cur The woman, still a white This love fell by the wayside No matter what the form The erotic, the Platonic Such energies were scorned All loves fell by the wayside Abandoned in all forms Innocence lie disemboweled In lieu of social norms
