I don't write about beauty very often

I don’t write about beauty very often
Maybe that’s because with one eye
I see a blurred pillow
And one corner of your mouth
Your hair resting on the side of your face
Your left eye closed
In sleep

I don’t write about beauty very often
Maybe that’s because with one hand
I can reach beneath the sheets
And touch your smooth skin
Run my hand along your side
Over your shoulder
Up to your face

I don’t write about beauty very often
Maybe that’s because with a word
I can call on you
And rouse you from slumber
To receive your sincerest regards
As I bid you farewell
Before an unwelcome day

I don’t write about beauty very often
Maybe that’s because it’s become so familiar
I live with you every day
And have grown to expect it
Maybe even treat it too casually
Should learn to appreciate it
And be thankful for it
As it’s you

I'm away now for 5 weeks. Upon my return regular transmission will resume. Enjoy, enjoy.

Good Morning Scott. I turned to this entry at random and so glad I did. The main and repetitive line is outstanding and so fits well and appropriately to express your words and thoughts. The theme is timeless. Please allow me to say this is an entry that must be read out loud with expression. This was a solid and well executed entry in its entirety including the title. Well done in every way. Enjoy the weekend.

Excellent! but I thought you were going somewhere else with this great theme. what a wide open place for a blind person feeling things out or even the sarcastic point of view. Great subject.

I don't review "free-verse" poems very often, but I feel it's important to reciprocate when someone reviews my work. This is a very well-written, well-expressed poem. It resonated with me, and free-verse rarely has that affect on me, so kudos for such a strong write :)

Scott, thank you for taking your time in posting a new poem.. Somehow I feel your poem is pointing fingers at me... cuz, I am guilty, of treating love as ... meh! it's there... But, what if it left.. then I'd regret not taking my time in appreciating what I had.--- You don't write much of beauty, but yet your pen drew the perfect passion, when love comes first... silently... love it. amazing.. always ~ Goodnight~ Linda
