DISCREET WORDS

SONNET – DISCREET WORDS

The discreet wonder became ever more
by audacious words a few, so daring,
subtle notion to fill the hollow core
by visions of love’s intimate sharing.
Reverence carried into ardent lust,
albeit with forborn adoration,
wherefore to surrender, the words to trust,
unworthy of beliefs meek elation.
Suddenly, gloom turned into hope of new,
will was lifted from the edge of despair,
expectations of promises subdue,
to lecherous nonvirtuous affair.

Yet those words were left wanting in reply,
redemption of love’s trust for you and I.

You wrote this so eloquently and with great flow. It's difficult for me to write like this with so many descriptive words, but you pulled it off very splendidly: "lecherous non-virtuous affair" ... what a word combo.

Thank you very much for your kind and wonderful comments, Constance. Deep and dark - sadness. There is a certain kind beauty in depth of emotion through sadness. T.J

As always my friend sonnets are obviously so easy for you to pen! They get in our blood and we somehow learn to write them almost like breathing. I think about 40% of my entire body of poetry is written in sonnet form. A7 on this superb offering.

I know what you mean, Robert. I kind of stumbled across sonnets when I started writing poems, and very quickly it went to my blood. I love the form. It is the best form for me to express myself and my feelings. Always a pleasure to read your comments, Robert. Thank you, my friend. T.J
