Days End, Special Friend

She lies beside me as we go to bed
And silently she reaches out for me.
A gentle touch on arm, on neck, and head
And I am lost, a silent ecstasy!

To me it says, “You know it’s you I love!”
I swell inside with warmth, my forearm brushed,
A tingle down my spine from up above
Now this is love! Unspoken whispers hushed.

A minute, two, and then she turns away,
Her arching back inviting me, sublime.
Insistent nudges now as if to say
“Um, I scratched yours, now honey you scratch mine!”

She is my wife, my life, my special gal.
I drift away while sleeping with my pal!

DEan for your first sonnet, I say Magnifique!!! (is that a word?) I love this, and you did better than some that I know who have written more than a few sonnets here already at Soup. Awesome job!

Thanks Anne-Lise. This is not a form that is natural for me but I can see it would get a little easier with practice.
