Cottony Dream

I am unplugged, bathed, clean-pyjama’d,
and my sheets, fresh as meadow-breath,
hug me with sun-spun calmness.
“Now, Mr Moon,” I whisper,
“stream me a cottony dream.”

I am so proud of 'clean-pyjama'd' because it is lingo from my own world. I felt the clean body in the clean sheets, a feeling I love that makes me feel good all under and over, and the ending was a sweet poem sealer, Nina. Your creativity is bursting from garden to bed and even in the trash - I hope you have pen and paper or tape recorder handy in every environ you enter. I don't want to miss any of your muse's musings. Poetry hugs ... CayCay

CayCay, thank you so much. But here’s a secret. My recent love-affair with word-sounds, a love affair which I feel is set to stay with me for the rest of my poetic life, is HUGELY inspired by a handful of poets here - you, and Kim R, and Pixie Dust among them - whose poetry has an extra layer of meaning created by the sounds of the words. I adore this technique and have been working hard to try to incorporate it!

This is very light, whimsical, and conveys such a sweet and diaphanous feeling ... and for someone with DAD, such dreams are THE dream. Wonderful work, Nina! :-) <3

LOL ... never thought of that! Dream Anxiety Disorder, just fancy name for chronic nightmares. I am much better now, (it seemed to coincide with OCD - they think similar origins), but I still have periods - just getting over one. I've had years past when I was terrified to go to sleep, now it's intermittent, thankfully. I'm sorry you have sleep issues - not fun at all. I GET to sleep in about 30 seconds, (for real), but rarely get deep, relaxing sleep.

I don’t think we had the moon as big as you did, but it was a little golden and there was some thin cloud in front of it so it looked so magical! Wonder if that’s why I woke up with this in my head actually! Thank you Connie :-)

A lovely, delicate poem, Nina. How cool to think of "cottony" dreams. Hadn't heard from you and wonder if that pendant ever arrived. Best wishes in Brian's contest. Hugs, Carolyn
