A mole was driving the bus

Tooting Bec, Clapham and Morden are all in South London A mole was driving the bus today from Tooting Bec to Clapham A mole was driving the bus today - an extraordinary thing to happen! Sightless, relentless, he monstered the roads with a honk and an “Oy!” and a twitch of his nose - a mole was driving the bus. A mole was driving the bus today, his shovel-like hands on the wheel. A mole was driving the bus today, apparently, not a big deal! The passengers texted and talked of not much while he roped in a rabbit to jump on the clutch - a mole was driving the bus. A mole was driving the bus today and we didn’t ask why, more’s the pity. A mole was driving the bus today as it tunnelled down under the city! Now half a mile under the bright streets of Morden, we’re slaves to the rats, with a fox for a warden - a mole was driving the bus.

What fun! I saw the title and just had to click on the poem. I hope you have read this one to your sons because it surely has the kind of appeal that can delight children of all ages. It sure brought my child out. I just loved it when he roped the rabbit, well, I loved all of it, Nina. Poetry hugs ... CayCay

Love the rhythm of this poem, for children from 8 to 80! Terrific conception and execution! ~ The War Don

Thanks War Don! Is this War Don a fox or a wolf? ;-)

I agree with Daniel – shades of Lewis Carroll. Also the repeated lines is typical of much childrens verse.Hope your book sees itself in print, Nina. Thanks for stopping by. BTW, I'm strictly a wine imbiber. / M
