A Matter of Murder

Murder matters
As long as the murderer is still alive and out there.
Dead people cannot come back and kill us.
Murder matters as long as the dead people
Are still alive and in here
Our memories.

Like truth, like justice -

In order to find them, we first have to lose them
In the manner of an investigation.
To lose them, all we have to do
Is to be human.
To be human, all we have to do is to tell a lie.
A lie that is still alive and out there
As a matter of murder.

Yet, unlike truth, unlike justice,

Are either recalled or forgotten.
For in the matter of murder
Versus the Republic of the Philippines,
We can only rise
To claim the truth and to claim justice.

For, in reality,
We can only earn the truth and we can only earn justice.
And, in the case of memories,
We can only earn the truth back and we can only earn justice back.

Because, outside of truth and justice,
What matters most is
If we should turn our backs
To the murder of our memories.

Because dead people cannot come back and kill us.
But our memories can.
All memories can
In the matter of murder.
