Contest Description
Submit two clerihews, one on each partner of a famous romantic couple. The couple could be from history (like Napoleon and Josephine or Bonnie and Clyde), from current events (like Barack and Michelle Obama), from Hollywood (like Kim and Kanye) or from fiction (like Romeo and Juliet). It's fine to use any of these examples or come up with another famous couple.
If you have already written clerihews on romantic couples, you're welcome to enter them.
Your poem will have eight lines as each clerihew has four. The rhyme scheme is AABB for each clerihew. And remember, focus on only one couple.
Everyone is welcome to enter, including people who won prizes in my past contests. I am selecting some special jewelry to offer as prizes to two winners. There will be lots of winners in this contest and the first-place contestant(s) will receive jewelry for Valentine's Day, perhaps a heart-shaped pendant or a bracelet with heart-shaped stones. Judging will be based on creativity and adherance to the form as defined by Poetry Soup. You can use the couple's names as your title.
Here is my example of a Clerihew Couple, but feel free to have longer lines if you wish.
Romeo and Juliet
Young Romeo Montague
Fell for a beautiful ingenue
Unfortunately, fair Juliet
Was also the enemy, a Capulet
Lord Capulet's much-adored Juliet
Was Verona's most buxom brunette
Who bet her life on Romeo
Might have fared better with peace-loving Benvolio
*Benvolio was Romeo's younger cousin in the play.
Hope this is fun for everyone!
