A Majestic Match

Our gracious Queen, Elizabeth Alexandra Mary Came to the throne aged twenty-five, which proved quite scary. In every walk of life she sets the pace. When post arrives she's met by a familiar face. Philip, of noble stock, her blunt but dashing prince, Is apt to put his royal foot in it which makes her wince. He fathered offspring Andrew, Edward, Charles and Anne. It's rumoured that he's 'Lisbeth's greatest long-term fan! 12/01/19 'Clerihew Couples for Valentine's Day Poetry Contest' Sponsor : Carolyn Devonshire Footnote: Royal etiquette demands that no-one must walk in front of the Queen The Queen's profile is on British postage stamps

Queen Elizabeth was smitten with the handsome Prince Philip and their love story still shines bright. It takes a very strong man to be married to a Queen. I enjoyed reading your creative clerihew. Congratulations on your win! ; )

Love your plan B, Wendy. I watched the Coronation on TV when I was 15, so I've followed it all

I don't think I ever got round to answering your question as to whether I was of Welsh stock. Unfortunately not. I was actually Christened Brian although Bryn has been a nickname for about 70 years. I do consider myself an honorary Welshmen though as my late wife was from The Rhondda

Thank you,Bryn. Would I be wrong to deduce from your name that you may be of Welsh 'stock' like me?! They still seem to be happy together after so many years so it seemed like a good choice for the contest.

They've had their ups and downs I'm sure but they seem to still enjoy each other's company and life would never be boring! Thank you for your kind remarks, Ann.
