My name is Joanna Chamberlain. I was born in Brighton, England on the 15th December 1981
I started writing when I was very young. I found passion in rhyming words, I used writing as an escape from my troubled childhood. I was taken into residential care in my early teens, this was a very lonely, distressing time. I found great comfort and enjoyment in writing funny, witty Limericks. I also enjoy writing/reading short Haiku style poems with great imagery.
I have 20 poems published in anthologies, these can be found in libraries across the UK. My poem- 'Brolly Rage', was shortlisted out of one thousand entries to feature in the Poetry Rivals anthology: 'The Finalist'. The winner performed at the Royal Albert Hall London, Slam Finals. I've had my poems: Ocean spray, Selene, Passion Dance, Voyage. Published in Poetry Soups anthologies: PS: it's poetry & PS: It's still poetry. I've also had my first Nursery Rhyme 'Ellie's freckles' published in; Nursery Rhymes & stories from poets around the world. My poem Ukraine was published in POETiCA REViEW a quarterly literary journal of poetry.
I recently had my Haiku 'Cherry blossom' published in; Hope is a group project, a poetry anthology published by; The Wee Sparrow Poetry Press. Due out; 30/08/22
In the future I'm looking to publish my autobiography.
I have been married to my husband Matthew 13 years, we have a son Harry, we live in the country with our two dogs. I have ADHD which has made life challenging at times, however my ability to day dream has helped with my creativity, which has inspired many great poems. I describe myself as a talkative introvert.
