when the eyes that are the sky start to open and cry the thunder, and clouds comfort me like a cozy lullaby
I love the thunder the screams of nature from the pain of nature.
I love the thunder it holds me close although sometimes I shake in fear from the howling
I'm surprised yet not hurt scared but not seen
Even though I am scared and quite shaken the love for thunder will never weaken
I'm surprised yet scared of you when you yell and cry, but I've never thought that it could be cause from something in your eye
Outside in the barn one late summer eve
a seaman toiled until wee hours of night
Solid rock surrounded by wood and nail
just the right size for "The Serenity Sail"
She lit an old candle by the window,
recalling sweetly their brave adventures
Back in the days when they were young
water was life and love was pure gold;
Over by the lawn an old weathered sailboat
sat waiting, for one more vigorous glide
"Lets take her out " he said as he toiled,
curving the wood and tapering to a point.
That night they slept in the boat like kids,
huddled under a blanket stitched with stars.
Tasting the ocean on her lips he sighed,
"Join me !" he said as she giggled, awhile.
Of my nose, Pop said, he could not save
Thru his laughter, told me to be brave
Blood hit the ground and froze
Still, it gushed like a hose
Soon after, the dead, rose from the grave
Their pennies popped when they saw the flood
So, they dived on top and dined on blood
But, once they had their fill
They used the rest for swill
And left me face down, drained, in the mud
Then they turned their attention to Pop
He kept screaming and told them to stop
But, they all kept going
One hell of a showing
They said he was good to the last drop
May we all be blessed to welcome everyone into our own paradise
wherever we may go…
And once we welcome them in
to do our best
to try and make it so.

Monocrostic (Birthday of Thess A. Paje)
aba Maba Rhaba Grabba Rue
Strawberry thief, I see you
You may have this one and that one too
We’re not much for strawberries, me and Pru
don’t have to sneak; we will give them away
We’re in the blue house down by the bay
Aba Maba Rhaba Grabba Rue
We’ll have them wrapped and waiting for you
With pure light, you cannot see.
With pure darkness, you cannot see.
With both, you will see the beauty of life surrounding you.
Mountains, Sea, sky, and life will sing knowing your truth.
Now, your journey begins through the night stars and space.
Your soul now remembers this loving, unknown embrace.
You are home, welcomed in love as you swirl in his splendor.
With a twinkle in his eye, he dries a tear with his touch, so tender.
a welcome visit
lady bug sweet lady bug
bearer of good luck
AP: Honorable Mention 2025
The roads are jammed; the traffic crawls
And rain clouds fill the sky.
The cars are crammed and, on the walls,
Graffiti passes by.
The cabbie shrugs, “That’s how it goes”
As we head slowly home,
The morning’s hugs, you might suppose
The highlight of the poem.
Yet sunny skies and swaying palms
Don’t equal paradise,
So don’t surmise that lifestyle calms,
Though while you’re there it’s nice.
New York has faults and though it’s true
That life here can be hard,
You can’t just waltz through what you do;
It’s tough in that regard.
For where you live is in your bones –
The good parts and the not,
So you forgive what causes moans
And deal with what you’ve got.
(ABCD + Acrostic)
Aunty happy smiles awake,
Beautiful welcomes make,
Crafting alms, gals create,
Devoted, peace participate,
Hermit, joyful prayers state!
Welcome, everybody to the Church!
The body of our Savior here on earth.
Leave your worldly worries at the door.
You’re not going to need them anymore.
Everyone is welcome, come on in.
You can be forgiven of all sin.
As sinners, we are all in the same boat.
Needing daily grace to keep afloat.
Welcome, everybody. It’s okay.
We understand you’re weary from your day.
Though the world might seem like such a mess
You are free to come on in and rest.
We are all just one big family
Hoping heaven one day we’ll all see.
Where, in one voice we will sing “Amen.”
Everyone is welcome. Come on in!
Thank you for our lovely evenings
For the mornings, days and nights
Thank you for the shared givings
For our loving worried minds
In my soul you live forever
And I hope you got me there
In your soul, entwined together
We’re the breeze that waves the air
We are waiting in the queue
For permission to get down
To the planet that we knew
This time in the same old town
Welcome back, my dearest dear
Here we are, on this old earth
It’s the cycle – from the rear
You can see our new rebirth.
Forced to give up everything when you died
I was no longer welcome at home
Barely ate, not a penny set aside
Forced to give up everything when you died
Had to leave all my belongings behind
Nowhere to go, from motel to shelter I roamed
Forced to give up everything when you died
I was no longer welcome at home
"We must say, goodbye to winter but do not be sad. It will come back again next year with a big smile and plenty of snow. Now we welcome Spring to enjoy." By Poet
Winter can be very cold,
the wind will sing and be very bold.
The ground is covered with fluffy snow,
to play in as the swirls will blow.
Spring is now in the air,
flowers and trees are blooming everywhere.
Springtime in my pretty garden is starting to grow,
oh no do you see a huge old black crow.
Spiced tea in my garden is for me,
I love the butterflies and the big yellow bee.
Spring can be so much fun,
sitting with my flowers and the bright sun.
A legendary dark, so thick,
A corrosive smog to my young eyes that itched,
My kid-glove skin crawled like the parasitic tick,
It felt as though my whole system glitched.
A welcome into the dark cave,
Exhilarating walk from the womb, a step into the mystery,
Where shadows of truth barely behave,
The haste of rolling days writes the history.
A love missed; he was lost in a drunken haze,
And vanished in the phase, moments before I could show,
Double pain left a lifelong graze,
Tattooed on my heart but made me grow.
Into the enigma of unburied hatchet,
A tale of betrayal, the knife in the back.
By his own blood, sealed in casket,
They drank from pain and fed on lack.
Destroying his foundation was their thin little win,
But even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while,
That wade through the swamp was brutal and grim,
But through the murky sky, the dimly dawn cruises easily.
