Sand
Miracle Man
3/18/2024

Sand appears to hotfoot through an hourglass,
unrelentingly depleting our precious time.
Without discernible deviation and no impasse,
plays no favorites betwixt aged and prime.

Life is not a “brief candle.” it is a splendid
torch that I want to make burn d torch as brightly
as possible before handing it on to future generations.

Like the Deer

I sit, unblinking. If I am still enough, I become part of the story

My breath falls into the rhythm of the whispering leaves, speaking poetry to the crisp glance of the Autumn breeze.

My heart settles into harmony with the searching birds, flying back into warmer days.

If I remain long enough, perhaps I will understand what the trees say, what the birds look for so unrelentingly.

Perhaps I will understand my own heart, struck at once with the brevity and longevity of life.

Or perhaps I will no longer desire to understand; I will set my heart free to flee the frost with the last butterflies.

Then I will become like the deer, breath clouding from my nostrils, nothing more than a pair of liquid-brown eyes in the forest.

Stories Hence

All of our songs and stories
are written to hold the shadows at bay
but each evening long dark arms
unrelentingly slink across the land
ever so slowly and inevitably
they blossom out of the receding light

Their arrivals are foretold
prophets penned of their ashen fingertips
that cast our fleeting moments into dusk
our theaters of light to shade
and our pain and sorrows to silence

A loud clamoring presents itself
shouts and screams fill the air thickly
louder and louder it grows
until the clamoring yields
to a crescendo of cries and prayers unanswered
they slam up against the encroaching shadows
as though to ward off their inevitable arrival

A fool's errand

For the night alone bears silent witness
and scribes solemn and eternal testament
to the beauty of all ephemeral things

"Alas, such endings must come
for you see all things do perish
and all things inexorably decay"

And in just this way we arrive
to write our songs and stories
filled with beautiful new beginnings
of art and love and hope and joy
pages and pages hence
that hold the shadows at bay

Enigma

How can you miss someone
Who wasn't even there

What do you say then after the fact
When you've offered the best you could share

Why is the cord left unbroken
A tensile strength of steel

Why can't I let the thought of you go
As I feal what I feal of what I feal

Silently ruminating with one hand to the stern
Unrelentingly plotting a course favor seeking to earn

Knowing nothing is garnered
Given freely lovingly through love

Seeking good will wanting return
On this earthly plain and above

I believe in miracles open eyed
I seek them each day

You won't catch me asleep at the wheel
If one should happen my way

So I say my prayers asking guidance
with a heartfelt inclusion of you

And a wish for understanding as to why
I do what I do as I do

The herder

The wind puffs into hills and across the dale,
Dusty, and thrashing lashes with a gusty gale.
As the herder stoops holding his club in hand,
He watched the eagle in pique as it landed.
The two crows were circling overhead in a sway
With their hungry eyes fixed on eagle’s prey.
Soon, the eagle was grappling with all its might,
But the final was hunger turning to a bitter spite,
As it straddles soaring saddened into the sky,
So the herder amazed told his kid with a sigh
Racks of our lives are very nearly to the wild,
Where cats roars and prowls hog-wild,
And monkeys swinging through trees, tall and thick.
As waterfalls splashes loud, cascading fluid thick,
A call which is heard by birds winging above,
And creatures which scurries slow and rough,
Jungle is possibly of beauty to humans instead,
A feeling solely defined from sight as they lead
The elite strolling in wonder and delight,
The wild unrelentingly fight, so is our plight.

Beached

BEACHED
                           broken
                        abandoned

                     to the cruel sea
                  which unrelentingly
         scatters driftwood on the shore

Premium MemberThe Brain--Your Personal Computer

The brain is an incredibly efficient computer
Compressing trillions of bytes of information,
Registering every impression we encounter,
Analyzing concepts from formation to causation.

Compressing trillions of bytes of information
In milliseconds without hesitation, unrelentingly,
Analyzing concepts from formation to causation
Remarkably, it even functions unconsciously.

In milliseconds without hesitation, unrelentingly,
It processes the continual intake of our senses
Remarkably, it even functions unconsciously,
Outlining proposals, formulating our defenses.

It processes the continual intake of our senses,
All while regulating our involuntary responses
Outlines our proposals, formulates our defenses
Even evaluating the most complicated nuances.

All while regulating our involuntary responses
Registering every impression we encounter,
Even evaluating the most complicated nuances
The brain is an incredibly efficient computer.

A Gentleman made his reservation in Heaven
Who had donated millions to Charity
Stood up to Bigotry and Oppression
  Fought for Justice unrelentingly

As fine a man as ever you'd meet
  No smidgen of impropriety --
Though behind closed doors
  He'd routinely mistreat
  The members of his family

The angelic tribunal examined his deeds
  And found them shockingly lacking
Thanks to an amicus brief that God chose to read
~ Wherein his wife and children sent him packing

Snapshots of Mirrored Pains

splayed on a lavender altar
lilac scents the air
crimson droplets gut the darkness
with a surgeon’s flare

dreadfully different
seasons proceeded to pass
perspectives appear as broken faces
etched on fractured glass

teardrops fall in amber pools
churning foaming suds
casualties of the fever
that lost the drive to love

in an empty room solitary
I sat on a vacant chair
precision snaps audible cracks
affirmed moments to beware

as the second-hand repeatedly swept
the clock tallied the toll
unrelentingly
slow

seconds echo a gunshot
minutes target a soldier
hours chisel tombstones
in orchards of granite stone

eyes close in silent demise

Premium MemberOn Grandpa's Farm

On Grandpa’s farm we rose to summer’s light,
then stayed outside – sometimes till dark of night.

There was a gated big front yard and tree
and hollyhocks, so pretty, growing free.

Behind the house there was a tool shed and
some old machines with which to till the land.

Unused were they, and I recall one day
we sat on one of them while at our play.

A swarm of bees rose up. I swear they chased
us unrelentingly as home we raced!

Except for that one incident, our days
were wonderful! On soft grass we would laze.

There was a lane that we’d go walking down.
It led to an old road, which led to town.

We picked soft pussywillows on that lane.
Raspberries too – which gave our grins a stain!

Long gone is Grandpa’s farm where we once stayed
and Grandpa too. . . but feelings never fade.

Fear

It is a very small demon.
It is a tiny monster,
that never stops chewing on;
anything it can get.

It is the one that hides,
and comes home with you.
It hops on while you are;
at the market, the post office,
work, school and even and/or
at church.
Listening to gossip,
overthinking the unimportant,
and by being unfocused on the big...
picture!

God walks with all of us.
Right beside us in the storm.
Lien on Him.
Talk to Him.
He is listening.

Angels around you.
Angels around your family.
Stronger than all others,
soldiers for the King.
Love each other unrelentingly.
Hold each other high.
Give the names of all you love,
to God in the sky!

Rain down drops of hope,
eliminate all dispair.
Let the saints know,
in their hearts...
ever that You,
are THERE!

Premium MemberPresident of Freedom

President of Freedom

The last man in a long line,
voted to save the future...
for us.
Not all of us,
but some.

Those that live on others,
standing on the backs of oxen,
will get all that is theirs.

Unrelentingly working,
for a better tomorrow...
only to find some have been,
tied to a circle,
a pole in the ground.

Spending their days...
toiling and pulling,
pallets of overloaded,
waste products,
produced by the elected elite,
shoveled and force-fed
to the Deplorables...
all,
in an effort to make them...
choke and die.

Termites...
to eat the very nutrients...
from our trees.
Ants,
to consume...
what is not just leftover,
but all there is too eat.
Foul swine,
talked about in the bible,
and sent to drown.

The best man for the job,
was not the one
any would have picked,
first from the tree.
The apples of freedom
have been scarce.
Yet, one that loves America,
more than all the rest.
Clear and exactly what you see,
Our President is there to fight,
for you and me.

Higher wages,
safer homes,
better lives,
one legitimate vote away.
America is alive.
We are here to stay,
because we pray!

Graphical Conceptualizations

'Twas like imagery or perhaps deja'vu
air quotations or a hallucination,
naught tangible to the naked eye
but an echoing of whirlwinds,
mere beginning of an expansion
tucked aside noncommittal whispers
reverberating discorporate shadows
on dividers of processing graphics,
rough drafts' emphatic intimation
of intrusively summoned reckonings
referencing old featured impressions,
mid-escape concentrated faculties'
unfocused low-density frequencies,
betwixt susceptibility’s magnifiers
orbiting bout night-crawlers' psyche,
whilst darkly territorial distractions
evolve beyond unforeseen influences,
farthermost assertion's revisionary
assemblages divulging conceals,
structured within framework
unrelentingly penetrative,
drawn-out, long agone
 an unreceptive peccadillo

Heatwave

shining way up high, rays descend
unrelentingly to earth
nothing escapes the hot
scorching, burning heat.
hills and dales.
impending
natures
ease.
