Twenty Twenty Five
By Franklin Price
12/28/2024
In three more days, this year is done
We'll welcome in another one
Twenty four will take the dive
And twenty five will be alive
The century is twenty 0ne
A quarter through, since first begun
The yongest ones born in the last
Are all adults and some have past
Most vets from the biggest war
Are gone now, and are no more
Those who are left, are gone now soon
As is the first man to the moon
Time does not stop for you or me
One year older we will be
When tweny five comes to an end
On that, my friend, you may depend
So live your life, as you see fit
Do not make a waste of it
This coming year enjoy your time
That's why I wrote this New Year's rhyme
Quote By Poet: "As one year ends ~ another is waiting to begin. What will the New Year bring? Only time will tell."
It is almost here twenty, twenty-five,
it is great to be alive.
There is a lady at the end of my street,
we just met and that was so neat.
How did we not know each other,
will she become like a second mother?
My neighbors I must discover,
guess I will go uncover.
It is important to say hello,
and put a smile on each face that will glow.
This will be the best year ever,
with many new friends forever.
She is forty-seven, but insists on being with our twenty-five-year-olds.
I have heard her in the office hallway begging to be invited to things.
I will bring a really good present if you invite me to your wedding.
I will buy a round of drinks if you let me come to your Friday night deal.
How did a person arrive at forty-seven and not have friends?
I am unsure why she is so needy, but she is in all of their social posts.
Throwing hatchets, on a sail boat, at their baby showers.
Her smile seems forced, but not as forced as the two next to her.
If they did not invite her, would she stalk them?
Wait outside their homes?
Follow their cars to the event?
Part of me says YES.
Go get dirty;
In the end dirt is fertile.
The cars we have number twenty-five.
One is shaped like a royal bee hive.
Two are groovy, the blue one can certainly jive!
The red monster truck seems to be alive.
One is automatic and can self-propel-drive.
Jogger came by and asked my Cousin Chive,
Why are all these cars parked in front of that dive?
He chased him up the driveway in car twenty-five.
Twenty five hundred pieces
twenty five hundred moments,
Some barely two minutes
others infinity disguised as an hour;
Twenty five hundred spaces
the border hasn’t been completed yet,
We are still walking, laying the outline
trying to find each perfect fit;
Broken pieces molded together
fitting the lost empty places;
Twenty five hundred seconds
each moment shifting shape,
as the puzzle spins the future.
There was once a man named Barnaby Lars
Who had spent twenty-five years behind bars
Now it ain't what you might think
He could concoct a great drink
At Clancy's Saloon smoking fine cigars
I love you just as much now,
As I did, the day that we got wed,
I'll love you just as much again,
When your teeth are by the bed.
I love you, because you're you,
I'll love you, when we grow old,
I love you, when you support me,
With a hand to hold.
I love you, even when you don't like me,
I love you, when the shoes on the other foot,
I love you, when you're being,
A great big pain in the butt.
I love you when you make fun of me,
I love you, when you make me smile,
I love you, even when I don't want to,
I love you, all the while.
Basically, I love you,
No matter what we're going through,
That's what happens,
With a love that's true.
I love you when you're grumpy,
I love you even though you've gone grey,
It's probably all because of me,
I'll love you until my dying day.
Private jokes,
Loving nicknames,
Annoying habits,
Driving each other insane,
Date night,
Time together,
Hopes and dreams
Ours forever.
Love and laughter,
So much success,
Pride and joy,
Life's the best.
Twenty-five years,
Memories galore,
Two amazing sons,
We couldn't ask for more.
He pushes me towards my goals,
He encourages me to chase my dreams,
He champions my poetry,
He makes me laugh, 'til I burst my seams.
He builds me up,
He picks me up when I fall,
He teaches me to appreciate life,
He make mes feel ten feet tall.
He tells me I can be, all I want to be,
He gives me so much hope,
He stands by my side,
He helps me when I can't cope.
He makes fun of me,
He puts up with my aches and pains,
He listens to my troubles,
He laughs when I'm being insane.
He makes me feel proud,
He brews an awesome cup of tea,
He lets me warm my feet on him,
He is the only man for me.
As I saw you standing at the altar,
In your morning suit,
You looked so nervous,
It really was quite cute.
As I approached your side,
On the arm of my Dad,
You mouthed, "you look beautiful",
You made my heart feel glad.
As we said our vows,
You fluffed your words a bit,
When we exchanged our wedding rings,
Yours didn't quite fit.
As we had our photos done,
Once the photographer arrived,
I was so emotionally happy,
Oh my! I could have cried.
As we celebrated with family and friends,
My heart sure did sing,
Twenty Five years on from then,
I still wear your wedding ring.
I've never been any good at jigsaw puzzles,
Patience, really isn't my thing,
But in life, I found my missing piece,
He truly makes my heart sing.
My borders, may have been intact,
Other pieces, just didn't fit,
But when he came along,
He completed every bit.
Every little piece,
Slotted into place,
Now my jigsaw puzzle,
Doesn't have an empty space.
My picture is finished,
I'll never take it apart,
Because if I lose that piece,
It would break my heart.
Life's thrown so much at us,
We've always pulled through,
You've been there for me,
As, I have for you.
You catch me when I stumble,
I lift you up when you're down,
You are my other half,
I would never let you drown.
You are my lifeline,
You are my heart and soul,
When we're apart,
My life's not quite whole.
You make me proud,
In everything you do,
That's why I,
Will always, Love You.
All the years we've been married,
We've had such a blast,
We can say up yours, eat your words,
To those who said it wouldn't last.
All the happy memories we've made,
From our time together,
The fun and joy we've shared,
Will be ours forever.
All the times we've laughed out loud,
Until we have cried,
Our relationship has grown and bloomed,
That can't be denied,
All the hard times we've battled through,
Are overshadowed by the good,
That's all because of one thing,
You're in my heart and in my Blood.
