Reality's Not Enough

“You live in a false reality”
“That’s not going to make you any smarter”
“I don’t get what you like about it”
“You’re doing that because you like to?”
“That’s so boring”
“You actually enjoy that”
Spending my life wrapped up
Wrapped up in nothing less than an amazingly unrealistic world
I’ve spend my life wrapped up in the pages of book
There's something tranquilizing about reading
Something so indescribable
about getting to paint that sensational picture in your head
When I try to explain reading to someone
I say “it's just like watching a movie, but so much better”
There is something so rewarding about finishing a book
Feeling accomplished, and so proud
With each book a different story
With each book your getting to live a completely different life
And that's what I love most about reading
I’d much rather live between the pages of books
Then live in realty
With each turn of a page something new just around the corner
I would pick a book over people anyday
Only because books don't have to understand you to like you
You only have to understand and like the book to read it
And there just something about reading
I can't quite explain

Premium MemberBody ails yet spirit soars

Freezing in the midst of hostile ice monsoon
triggering aching woes beneath blood and bones,
I search for a quilt woven in sanguine rune
silken feathers of clementine and gold tones-
body ails, yet spirit soars, sings to the moon,
beyond clouds obscured in kohl sleets of hailstones
whilst rhapsodies of nature serve light to calm-
scattered scars in the air, like cosmic mint balm

But as skies swing heavy, and coldness seeps in,
hope breathes from sapphire dews of rain waltzing free,
for when mists of nature envelopes my skin,
I find traces of peace from roots of my tree
amidst the piercing pain pulsating within-
fields of eagle ferns, the tranquilizing key,
sets a serene scene with silver sequined lines,
sprinkling zests of zen from inner sun that shines.

Sometimes mind gets blanketed in confusion,
sinking behind steel walls sculpted in distress
although shadowed stars swirl like an illusion,
faith is the thread for thin needles to redress
and restitch fragmented frames of vague vision.
So let suppressed agony slowly digress
in pearl pages of cathartic tomorrows-
now my ink abandons yesterday's sorrows.

soft serene sunshine
blows the chill pill Shimla-breeze ---
tranquilizing scenes

soil soothing scent sprays

The Future Claimed

Moments of clarity stop the clock,
but time rolls on and on

Unrecorded, to stay embedded
in each wish unfulfilled

Tranquilizing the fleeting doubt
that truancy sets free

Returning with the future claimed
—to liberate the past

God gave me a sunrise today_
oh, it is bathed in purple hues
in the mist- dawn flowers sway
this beauty inspires my muse
there are mauve blooms and herbs
and my mind just lingers for hours
while I pick a wildflower bouquet
later in the lush fresh green I lay
as across the sky float gold streaks
it is a wonderful view to behold
Oh, the sun is so tranquilizing
and I am caressed by warm rays
this dawn scene is so mesmerizing
God gave me a sunrise today_

Premium MemberDawn In a Meadow

God gave me a sunrise today,
oh, it is bathed in purple hues;
in the mist of dawn flowers sway,
the great beauty inspires my muse.

There are mauve chive herbs and flowers,
God gave me a sunrise today;
my mind just lingers for hours- hours,
I pick a wildflower bouquet.

And in the lush fresh green I lay,
across the sky are streaks of gold;
God gave me a sunrise today,
a wonderful view to behold.

And the sun is tranquilizing,
I am caressed by a warm ray;
the scene is so mesmerizing,
God gave me a sunrise today.

Premium MemberBlue Waterways

Blue waterfalls run cold
in silvery moonlight’s beams;
a deer drinks river water;
cooled and refreshed,
leaps into the black forest.

Blue waterways run wild
like, hyena across the panorama
of scrub and brush;
kissed by African moonbeams.

Blue rivers are a magic elixir,
stirring the imagination
and tranquilizing the senses;
blue rivers run through
my twilight dreamscapes,
leaving me breathless.

Premium MemberHunting For Pan

It’s said that, if you find Pan
when he’s unaware, he has to give you his
magic panpipes.

I do covet that sound;
that ethereal, lilting, chiming
sound; it’s tranquilizing harmony.

And so, I’ve hunted him since I was a kid;
in every greenwood, forest and hedgerow;
every mountain and emerald dale.

Ever-elusive faun...I feel as though
he’s watching me; they also say...
the trees will cloak him...

Premium MemberIn the Shadow of Cloud

IN THE SHADOW OF CLOUD

A life lone on the shore of the breaking sea
Saw my heart shattered by surging tempest
I searched in the ruins for you to be with me
So in your tranquilizing arms I could get rest.

Time stopped for me for a while yesterday night
When in the silver shower of the harvest moon
I saw your glowing grace glimmer in mystic light
My love sang once again in the forgotten tune.

Misty breeze flowed from the sea now calm
Embraced you with my swelling emotion
I felt the ripples on your luscious lips warm
You closed my eyes for my dreams to return.

Crimson sun lifts the dawn from the horizon
The veiled night within me will glitter forever
I’ll grow a garden of your memory of my own
In shadow of colored cloud that you now are.

My Dentist

My Dentist:
DR. CERRUD

Speeding down the halls,
the fastest feet around.
Never a dull moment,
composed,
focused,
quick eyes trained for excellence,
and hands that need not be told.
Perfection both in his care and his work.
Presumptuous,
but it appears he is at home when he is at work,
is he at work when he is at home?

In comes the doctor.
Sees not your old clothes,
your ugliness,
nor the pigment of your skin.
Shakes your hands,
and smiles comforting words.
Washes his hands,
then wipes his counter spotless.
Checks his instruments,
and very methodically prepares,
probably more prepared than Moses in his quest to meet God?

Massages your gums.
Ever had that done before?
Lifts the scary needle.
Timidly,
you await the sting of the tranquilizing pain.
But instead,
a prick,
so tiny you keep waiting for the Big One!
Before you know,
he starts drilling away.
Falling asleep,
without fear,
in Dr. Cerrud's chair.

Come Blow Your Horn - Let the Music Play

He puts down his regular ax, his saxophone, and
begins to blast away on his shiny new thing -
Soprano...
He closes his eyes, fingers flying and we start
to grove to sweltering sounds that caress our ears.
Give the drummer some! We yell!
Play drummer, play!  We stomp!
Whoa, bass man, whoa!
Let us catch up!

We are going crazy grooving to your melodious noises...
Tranquilizing, satisfying!
We unravel to your sound.
You're making us high man!
You're making us high!
Strum bass man, strum!
Your fingers eating away on steel strings...
Drummer, you set our brains afire!
The saxaphone's notes fill the room -
Mad Cap!
I don't know the name of the tune,
But, hell, who cares!
Blow!
Strum!
Beat us until we die of pure pleasure!

My Chai

Sitting on the corner of the cafe with my friend after a long day,
Sipping the warm and sensual Chai tea,
Feeling the cold air from outside brush against my face when someone opens the door,
The taste of cinnamon ,nutmeg and milk flooded my mouth with pleasure ,
The soothing vapor mask my face delicately as i closed my eyes and inhale the sensual
aroma,
I stared outside the window watching people walk by,
I embraced my cup and sipped more,
The sounds of the tranquilizing music in the cafe sedated my tension even more,
I continued to the savor my chai until there wasn't a drop left,
And then walked out the cafe and left until the next day.

A Black Women Exdous

He rich dark light mix of chocolate, smooth taut textured skin bronzed in kindness
and compassion and I say this too shall pass

Brillant eyes shades of gold seeing visions, hearing the unknow commandering, tranquilizing
pulling and blending me into his essence
                         and I say this too shall pass

Broad shoulders stronge back ladden with burdens, that never seems to bend stoop or break,
senstive work callous hands that gently caress my troubled weary mind, ease away all my
fears and doubths and I say this too shall pass

Deep rooted legs, guildance with the blessing from the ancient ones, he set me lightly on my
feet his steps is conifdence, steady, rymthmgly and I match his pace
                         and I say this too shall pass

 He release me into the sweet rapture of light tears of understanding are on my face, for he
knew all along that I too will say
                          this shall never pass

                                                                             @sheilataylor

Premium MemberLavender Rain

Breezes WHISPER in the trees after cleansing rain;
FRAGRANCE of Wisteria WAFTS following rain

Thoughts of my love's LILTING bass voice WAFTING brings BLISS,
As FRAGRANT Wisteria comes with flowing rain

As SPLENDOR of sun peeking from behind a cloud;
The bright glow and warmth is as TRANQUILIZING rain

DULCET sun melts cares better than TRANQUILIZER___
Better even after a spring soft washing rain

ELOQUENCE of my love's romantic poems soothes the heart,
SUNFLOWER listens through LAVENDER flowing rain.
