More Than A Soft Toy

Some keep a blanket or an item of sentiment
Which holds deeper purpose than what was meant.

On the surface you are a soft brown dog
With a gentle face and floppy ears.
But you are much more to her than a soft toy.
You were a friend in her earlier years.

To her you were living, listening and real
As she

Toy cars

Cosy lights and small toy cars. 
Chasing baddies under the bed clothes by torchlight for the moon and the stars.
Creating people and places and crimes.
Creating heros and villains with no pennies or dimes.
Finding beauty that you cannot find the words to describe.
Sunlight through tree shadow cut by a bird taking flight.
Mist like magic under the

The Toy

A treasure untreasured, abandoned and forgot
In a darkened closet much like a burial plot
Misremembered kisses, hugs no longer felt
Twisting into bitterness, where lonesome dwelt

Memories wrapped in soft stuffing
Threadbare keepsake suffering
Cracked plastic smile full of secrets
A slow darkening uniqueness

Awakened within static button eyes
And malevolent intent began to arise
Replacing the love long since perished
Within the toy once

Like a Toy Car

When a poem you write is like a toy car,
it’s all wound up (vroom vroom) to take the reader far.
If it’s much too short, give the poem gas.
More words are the fuel you’ll need to amass.

If it’s way too long, your poem might sputter.
Add it then to your other toy car clutter.

Is My Life a Toy?

Is my life a toy, tossed in the hands of fate?  
Pulled apart by cruelty, yet I refuse to break.  
If not vindictive, then why this cold disdain?  
Am I merely dust beneath your twisted game?  

You cast me aside like whispers in the wind,  
Unseen, unheard, dismissed without regret.

Pet dog can't be our pet

Planting a seed of deceit to escape the blame,
Even the blind could see the trick in that dance.
Tangled deep in the web of truth-coloured falsehoods,
Dodgy as a broken glass that reflects beauty.
Only the trueness of its heart sees clear the truth~
Giving its forked tongue some time to rue its regret.

Care nor love enough to make

Toddler’s expressive eyes gleam as they idle hours
Oh such fun with doting parent’s gift wrapped present
Yes that shared joy endemic to cherished December day

Two dolls is all you need now, not 30
Our president has cleared the shelves
You may pay two bucks more, but who cares?

Toy

Tarnished, cracked, and parched without your love.  
Oh, why hast thou forsaken my devotion?  
Your impulsivity led to my demise, accumulating dust among disused collections.

Touching my face.
Ordering champagne.
You slide off your vow from your finger.

Toy

Tricksters taking all they desire,
Only to leave us wounded and broken.
You don't even know how much you have lost.

Tinkering with red and green bricks
Older than legos, redoubtable fun
Yesteryear’s rudimentary dream house
