Heartbeat of time

It wasn't the broken fence that shows me how fragile things can be
It wasn't the wilted flower that shows me how easily things die
It is the seed, the bud, the bloom, the baby in the stroller ...
the beginning of life and the beginning of a day
It is the fresh start, the clean slate, the sunrise

Time Has Finally Caught Up With Me

Time has finally caught up with me —
A hush upon the bone —

The Mirror whispers differently —
Than when I stood — alone.

The Mind once fleet as Sparrow’s wing —
Now trembles — in the air —

As if the Thought — forgot its perch —
And left me — waiting — there.

The Body bends — where once it

Getting a Grasp on Our Thoughts

When trying to grasp thoughts through our mind’s haze,
It’s like trying to escape a thought maze.
As the bits and pieces accumulate,
How will they connect, how will they relate?

We try to relate them to things we know.
Each thought should be placed right where it should go.
So many topics to assimilate,
We constantly add and have to update.

a single spark can light the darkest night,
and turn our timid hearts to fearless flight.

A warp in the fabric of time

a life so quickly passes
one blink and we can barely comprehend
~ the cycle in perpetual motion

time drives at a steady pace

time never slows down
she’s constant like syllables
she keeps a schedule

tick tick tick tick
precise and clean
steady and predictable

time never speeds up
driving at a steady pace
both hands ready

Time Cures

Time cures most everything
And helps to heal the breaks,
But shortages of resources
Tense and test the zeal,
Creating less of what time makes
And more for it to heal.

The Texture of Time

Pebbles in the stream
water carves their jagged skins
grinding them to smooth
time's current erodes all forms
each grain spilled feeds entropy

Age carves us rougher—
wrinkles, fissures, furrows spread,
chaos marks the skin;
it knurls the gnarled into grips
that drags daylight into night

For a rock, a tree
disorder unfolds; same way
each form cracked to dust
on path worn to final ash
as time decays,

I can recall moments now lost in time,
Long before meeting, I knew you were mine.

Traffic Jam Schadenfreude

Every morning, I work from home
I turn on the radio, if I'm unhappy and alone
You hear so much misery when the car jams are told
Make you feel happier, if you're mean and cold

The outbound George has a disabled tractor trailer
Some drivers now are cursing like a sailor.
On the inbound Holland there is police activity
Imagine all

The straw that breaks the camel's back

I run in circles all day long
doing a heap of chores and
getting things done
but I'll tell you what I truly find exhausting.
It's the waiting and not knowing,
it sets me back and slows me down.
It frustrates me to the bitter end.

Instead of multitasking
I end up multimasking
juggling and pretending
to be the patient person
that I'm really not.

A broken heart has no hole, yet it bleeds,
So time will heal the wound your hatred breeds.

If I Could Have Lived My Life

If I could have lived my life

Then this life is not mine. Not mine. Then this present has gone too far
I didn’t wait this time. Never. I needed the love. But that didn’t work

Doesn’t work the love? Unacceptable, my life? Yes. This is the reality
Solitude is the price for my independent life. I am paying

All That We Dream

When George Harrison sang,
“Yesterday, today was tomorrow
And tomorrow, today will be yesterday”
He was making a simple observation
On the nature of Life as a flow
We attach our momentary labels of time.

But he could also have said this applies
To all of us simultaneously in the flow
While attaching those labels

Forever Now

Not the worship of ashes
but transmission of fire
Time at its best
will the Muses inspire

Nostalgia and tears
rebury the past
With passion incarnate
— this moment to last
